Sharing my story from coming off Ativan and Klonopin and 13 years of being polydrugged as a veteran with trauma. It nearly led to my suicide.

She is not exaggerating. There isn't a word to describe how horrifying coming off this drug is.
My Dr. Put me on adivan .5 mg 2 ×a day. I been taking it for 3 years. I really scared now. I have to get off them.i also take trazadone and lexapro.i have lots of pain in my right back,leg.is it these meds.

@@seantaylorgoat5104 that's not that high of a dose compared to a lot of people go on RUclips and type in 1% taper and you will be able to get off of it just fine I am down to a 0.25 a day but actually less than that now and for the most part doing fine
How long from the time you quit until you felt normal again? This is so horrible. I have taken klonapin myself and my brother had to go to rehab to get off if it but he was getting off of so many other things all the withdrawal symptoms were thrown in there together.

I have been though several opioid withdrawals...some from insane amounts of OxyContin and fentanyl...and those were nothing compared to the hell that is benzodiazepine withdrawal. Depersonalization feels like you do no belong anywhere and must end your life because you are not a real person. You become driven to end your life and it’s like you have to constantly talk yourself off the ledge. It’s a surreal world of fear, like a bad acid trip that lasts days and days, not hours. By some miracle this veteran, myself and others survived it, but many do not. If you’re on a benzodiazepine do a correct taper, if you’re considering taking them...don’t. Thanks for posting your pain...it helps everyone.

Subversion 6066.... you are absolutely right. This is the way I feel that I am not a real person, and everything I connect with is not real, this place , these people, all fake. It's very frightening. I am 4 months off xanax now

I actually purposly got on my methadone during benzo paws just to bypass it because this took away the symptoms and made me feel pretty good, then i stayed on methadone for years,6 months off methadone today and bypassed the benzo paws. Not saying people should do this, im just saying it was much much easier for me.
I just wanted to revisit this. It’s been 7 years since I was on deaths door and saw this video and finally realized I wasn’t broken it was the shit they put me on. This video changed my life for ever and for the better. This countries medical system is fucked. I’ve connected with her over the year since then. But I just want to let everyone know- you can get better. It will just take a while. Slowly get off the meds and just focus on diet, exercise, sleep, personal relationships, purpose, and sunlight lol. It will take a minimum of 6-18 months for you to even feel half normal again. Day one feels like forever. It will be the hardest thing you ever do. But if you’re going through hell. Keep going. But it’s not JUST you and you are not broken. Tell your children and never let them near this shit ever. You are not alone.
I’ve never heard someone describe exactly what I went through. So healing to know someone else gets it. These drugs create hell on earth it’s insane

I am going through benzo withdrawals too. It's the hardest thing I've ever been through. I just got to remind myself when I think anything crazy that it's coming from withdrawal and that someday it will get better. It pisses me off how doctors hand this shit out candy. Loved it. One of the strongest people I know. This shits happening all too much and nobodies held accountable for it. One good thing is that you cant stop the truth from spreading. i personally believe a lot of suicides(even outside the military)are psych med related.
Drummers Eve you are absolutely right. if someone is going thru agony and no doctor will help and listen about what is going on. they may kill themselves seeing no other way. then they write off that as a weak or depressed person. it is tragic and criminal.
Absolutely correct Drummers Eve. They’ll just blame it on “mental illness”...it’s easy for them to sweep it under the rug and will continue to do so.
I couldn't agree more. Also, a lot of antidepressants cause aggressive behavior in some people like road rage and other violent acts.

ToxicYouth it only lasted two months for you?? I had the raw nerve feeling for about 3 years and can still feel it mildly. It’s torture! Stay away from benzos! Forever!
BEWARE!! She is NOT joking about the withdrawal symptoms!! I wish the psychs and docs really took it serious about warning people before pushing these medications on them., smh. My withdrawal was a complete nightmare that I’m just now starting to wake up from! The worst part for me is the depersonalization/derealization, it’s the worse feeling I have ever had..
On October 16, 2011 My husband who was a medically retired Army Ranger, took his life by overdosing on pain meds purposely. He was on Ativan and klonipin and a whole slew of other bs that the VA gave him. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that this shows other veterans the real issues with all of the meds that the VA pushes..

I just lost a close friend who took his own life because of a situation like this. Thank you so much for posting this. I'm so glad that you survived. You are so strong! My friend didn't make it. I am so sad and pissed about these evil, stupid f'ing drugs. This is an important video. My friend left a note, he was a nurse. He said he felt that after a lifetime of antidepressants his central nervous system was completely destroyed, he couldn't sleep, would never sleep again, couldn't feel anything and that he could no longer live like that. So he took himself out with a noose on a tree on the hill above his house. These are Nazi Drugs, and I'm sorry but your doctor was a brainwashed idiot. I hope he has awakened. I've noticed doctors are often way too full of themselves to realize how little they know and just how vast the educational brainwashing they received is. Either that or they're being paid off to push drugs.
I'm so sorry for your loss. We have lost a lot of people in this community of people harmed. I MUST be an activist to sound the alarm. I believe your friend 100% because I felt the exact same way. I am still shocked I'm still alive. The damage is so bad and so real.
@@AngiePeacockMSW Cold turkey w/d from klonopin 1.5 to 2 mg, taken as directed for 28-1/2 years, my doctor didn't taper me. Among the many, many symptoms I had, thought I should try to walk outside my apt to get some exercise, might help. I stayed away from walking in sidewalk near moving cars, I remember thinking I might throw myself in front of a car. The thought that I was actually considering this scared the crud out of me, have never considered suicide before, but I just wanted all the horror to end. I'm 69.

I work where I see clients/guest/residents come in with all these meds- and I have asked many times- to my co-workers and managers---- why are they on these??? ( most do not care because it is not their job to care) I disagree it is ALL of our jobs to care!! It truly saddens my heart- What got me researching today is one person came in because he is off his psych meds-- talked with him for 3 hrs- and like you said he feels at times he is going to die- he has pain and terrors- truly has no one to believe in him. People keep telling him you are mentally ill and you need to get back on your meds. :(

I got off a 20 year Valium addiction cold turkey one year ago. It was hell, the hardest thing I ever did. I am just starting to feel normal. My body, my mind , everything had to reset. Thanks for your story. Benzos are the worst .

devraaj naastik I took Benadryl at night to sleep. It worked. It’s cheap and over the counter in every country I ever traveled to. I still need it to sleep most nights. I drank myself to sleep for a month in the beginning. I am an alcoholic, I could not sleep . Sometimes I did not sleep for up to 5 days. Hell. I drank when I had to sleep.
i was on 1mg xanax 3x daily for anxiety/panic and my doctor shut me off when i told her i drank on a weekend and it put me in the hospital with hallucinations, confusion and paranoia ... we need to hold psychiatrists responsible for being IRRESPONSIBLE in rx the meds

I think it's so important to hear your story as a veteran. this shouldn't happen to anybody, but that we are regularly doing this to our is sick. my neighbor had anxiety from withdrawal from pain meds after a back injury. he was given klonipin and one week later he shot himself. a couple of months later my doctor advised me to rapidly withdraw from Ativan. it's a silent epidemic. it's why I speak out about it now online and every where I can.
littlemissperfect I understand what your saying . But there is no correlation from klonopin and suicide .
littlemissperfect I assure you benzos decrease inhibition which leads to suicide. There's research on this. Google it. It happened to me.
Ang Peabody the same could be said for Alcohol. Anything that decreases Inhibition. Sex could lead to suicide . Oxytocin lowers inhibitions
ok- then what is your point. I know about 5 completed suicides from benzos alone, 3 were on Klonipin.
Ang Peabody I think your doing great on your recovery. Much braver than most .. is there evidence to time frames into how long it takes for a persons brain to return to normal .? I think those who had anxiety would have been better off using street drugs than pharmaceuticals (no pun intended) I just time and time again that the withdrawals seem much worse on these Meds than Cocaine , alcohol or Heroin .
That's so crazy that so many people have issues coming off.
I was on 1mg kpin per day for 2 1/2 years..
I moved and could not go to the same doc and so I had no choice but to go down to .25 mg per day.
The first week was uncomfortable and it was hard to sleep.
It has been 2 months and I am down to .15 mg per day and have lost 11 pounds of excess weight.
I do have anxiety disorder, but I just want everyone to know that just because other people have severe reactions to tapering, that does NOT MEAN that you will.
That is very true too. Just because some people are allergic to peanuts does not mean everyone is.
But also, I tapered just fine too until I got to a lower level and dropped one of my doses. I was fine until I wasn't fine.
We are all different and there's no way of knowing if we will have a bad wd or not. We just have to taper and see what happens.
Nicole T I have tapered off benzos fairly rapidly several times. It was hard. Blood pressure spiked. But after about 3 weeks I was okay. I was always on high dose, too. The insomnia was the hard part, too. But my urine specimen was negative within two weeks. A week after that I was back to normal.

I dunno I was prescribed 3mg a day for 5 years and ran out 6-7 days ago and I feel like death

I don’t get headaches ever and this one I have crawling from the back of my head to my iris is unrelenting
The cold sweats are reminiscent of drying out in the desert with no more than a foot of shade to combat the sun
Emotional drought and mental gymnastics is the least of my worries at this point because the world flipped it polls in my reality

Imagine that feeling coupled with a good ass beating and enough alcohol to drown every pore of yours flowing through your veins
It’s hell I’m truly scared of death for the first time in my life thanks to this drug

I went though withdrawl last winter and I swear I was dying. The Dr.s were just annoyed by me. They told me I would feel better in a week. OMG I wasnt gonna make it a week. I was thinking of jumping off the roof. I couldnt figure out how to get up there so I called 911 but didnt tell them I wanted to jump off the roof because I knew they would lock me up. I just told them of all the symptoms I had and they didnt act like I had anything wrong with me. I couldnt hold still, I had shooting electric shocks all through my body, I felt like I had to run or move fast but I couldnt. It was torture going on inside my head. Its so hard to explain how I felt. Its like you are going crazy and there was a numbness inside my head like my brain split in half. Im so glad that part is over, for the most part anyway. I still dont feel right and my panic attacks are worse than they were before I got on the clonazapam. I stay at home most of the time. I can count on having a horrible panic attack as soon as I leave my house. Some days are worse than others. I guess Im gonna have to live like this. I also have chronic pain and at the same time I was taken off the clonazapm the Dr. cut my dose in half of my pain meds. It was double jepardy. Im so miserable now between pain and anxiety. The Dr. wants to put me on depression / anxiety meds. NO MORE! I dont want anything else that is gonna mess my head up. Why donnt Dr.s tell you what this stuff does to you before you get on it. I may have chosen not to take it. Panic attacks are so much easier to deal with than these medicines.
There is a lot of support out there Vicki. Google "benzo buddies forum" and look on Facebook for "benzo" and the groups will pop up. All this crap will go away. Watch my other videos and you can see the progress

Hi Vick I hope ur well and ur not alone these doctors they don't even consider telling us the major side effects of these drugs ... They don't know how it feels to experience the hell of withdrawal.. I'll pray for you I hope ull do better with time
I feel for you and anyone else who has experienced this hell. I went through a lot of the same situations except I had my S&W .40 in my hand and said oh F*CK NO, disassembled it and called my best friend and explained the situation, he took me in while I was going through it. The whole experience was a total hell. Stay strong sister and anyone else who has or is going through this. It eventually will get better and easier.

the brain shrinks 1-2 % EACH YEAR during abuse.
Speech is getting slower and slower also.
Withdraw from high doses over decades is mostly impossible as it

I could totally relate to so many things you said. I've felt exactly the same way. I took Ativan for about 15 years, not knowing any better. The withdrawal from that was the worst thing ever went through in my life! I'm surprised to survived, but I did. It took me about 2 years to finally get past it.

@@djammer Hello, I feel back to normal. All of the bad stuff that came with the withdrawal eventually went a way. It took a long time for me but I just tried to ride it out while my brain adjusted to the medication not being in my system anymore. It was tough and really pushed my limits but I got through it. 🙂

@@angelajackson7079 About 3 years, it was a very long situation to get thru, I was on clonazapam for about years, and I'm sure that's why it took so long to feel "normal".

I tried staying away before, but it makes me so socially awkward because everywhere I go the sounds, the lighting, everything is so sensitive that I just want to run back to bed. This is a nightmare. I know exactly what you are talking about, it's like your central nervous system is badly damaged. Very impressive that you came off all the drugs, I hope you are feeling much better. I have the same back issues because of valium, very painfull and upsetting. I'm almost 3 weeks done with my taper, but still feel like a raw nerve as you said. I come to you today May 7th 2018, haven't touched one since, my life is so much better but I come to you to tell you thank you. In 2013 I went through what you talked about, with no answers and doctors treating me like I was paranoid and dilusional to express that I suspected that it had something to do with the Lorazepam. I was determined to find answers somewhere, so I did my own research. It took many months before I began to find some answers, on the internet and in Benzo Buddies was the most helpful. I'm so happy I found your video. No one warned me either about what this can do to you. I've been feeling terrible for 4 years now and I couldn't figure out why and realized it was probably the klonopin because I only take it like 3 to 4 times a week and then would go a few days without it because I was told to not take it often but not why... when I realized its the klonopin, everything I've been feeling makes so much sense. I'm tapering off right now but my dr hasn't been helpful with that and just tells me to cut down and take it less....and I'm getting the worst effects and dealing with a lot of what you mentioned. I keep telling my husband I think "I'm dying" "I'm afraid I'm losing my mind" I just feel wrong. Something feels very wrong and I havnt been able to explain it to anyone but hearing you say those things is giving me so much comfort and now I believe I can feel normal again eventually. Thank you

I feel so bad for everyone trusting their doctors.... people are so ill informed and people are so so so harmed by this. It’s no small thing. It’s horrific to the max, but people who’ve never experienced this would have no idea what this is like. I want to cry everytime I see stories like yours that match my experience. It’s been 12 years- I warn everyone, but still people do not listen. Doctors do not believe. I, like you, was told it was my anxiety disorder. Hell, no. This was like 1000 times worse than any panic attack. You can’t even explain how it was. I’m still traumatized by it 12 years or so later. I’m not having the symptoms now, but I am physically ill ever since which makes me question if I was brain damaged. It took about 3 years until the windows got large enough it was tolerable. It took many years to recover, and that f’ing doctor thought nothing of what I reported to him but blamed ME, my body for it. I never in my life had such problems....ever!
I wish I could warn everyone. They hand this shit out like candy.

Thank you. Something like this happened to someone I love too. The only way to save others is to do exactly what you're doing --speak out and share. P.S my friend who got off Klonopin found that taking crushed up Holy Basil/Tulsi plant helps. You can grow it or buy in capsules at a health food store.

It was only in the last week of my father's life that I started to learn about benzos. He was on them from Jan. 2019 until his death in Aug. It's disturbing how they do not educate patients on these medication, especially the elderly who are taking 10-14 scripts a day, especially when they are diabetic too. My father kept saying his body hurt, it was withdrawals. When he was in the hospital in June they spiked the benzos. When he came home, they were cutting down the dose he was on for two weeks. He wasn't sleeping much in the hospital or at home, the Ativan/Larazepam wasn't working. Cutting him down was putting him in a low dosage withdrawal. I have read and listened to a lot about benzo withdrawal. That is a lot of what he was going through the last month before he went to heaven. Family didn't know. Did the drs. know, care? They never told us or warned us. Thanks for sharing another story for me to learn from.

Angie speaks for all of us psychiatric drug survivors who've been forced by mental health-care workers into cold-turkey benzo withdrawals and left on our own to survive. I did experience hallucination & seizures. While my Effexor, Trazodone & Lithium c/t withdrawal drove me to become homicidal for 8 long, excruciating months requiring my last hospitalization. thanks for sharing. i went through all the same symptoms as you and im a firm believer these meds are responsible for alot of suicides and unexplained shootings as well. i am a calm and peaceful person and im lucky i didnt hurt myself or someone i loved coming off valium and ADs. im now 14 months free and getting more functional by the month, i have even started working again! It is insane man.. really makes me nervous that schools are going to start testing more for anxiety and depression.. I am a believe that should happen and we should be aware but im nervous because of how the doctors will proceed after.. This video and others on youtube really helped my withdrawal, if at least, because I felt like finally there were some others that knew how I felt. It is a long long mental difficult journey but you can make it. Thank you, I had my first anxiety attack 1 month 1/2 ago and the first medication I was prescribed in the ER was Lorazepam. I was only taking the medication two weeks and it has by far been the worst and most scary experience I have ever encountered. I have crying spells, chills, thoughts of dying, low appetite, migraines, body aches. As you stated nearly everything on the list you saw and felt you were experiencing was the same for me. I am today 7 days into withdrawal from this drug. I have never felt more horrible, but I am pushing. I pray that your journey moving forward is a healthy one , and thank you for your courage to upload this video. It educated me, and I wish I did more research of my own, before listening to doctors.

wow ang...our beginnings w benzos are almost identical. ive never heard somebody else's recollection that is so close to my own. you're so lucky you have so many friends who love & support you. im so agoraphobic now i cant go on facebook either, it's been over a year. my ptsd wasn't from the military, but rather a succession of physically/emotionally abusive relationships (2). my husband now is great, but i feel terrible he has to put up with my lows, and haven't been sexual for months. im lucky we're approaching our 40s and had a very sexually satisfying relationship for 7yrs up to this point--otherwise id be terrified of him looking elsewhere for sex on top of everything else! anyway, you've really struck a chord with me that none of these other benzo sharers have. you're strong. you're real. with this i can identify, and i will continue to watch your vids for added support. thank you for putting yourself out there!! i'll be "seeing" you! --Trish

I thought the exact same thing about the 22 vets a day when my physiatrist started tapering me off clonopin! Between the actual effect of withdrawal and how they treat you/deal with it, it wouldnt surpise me if that was a big factor.

I think I may be one of the lucky ones. I’ve been getting daily improvements since Wednesday, after being on and off Benzos for the last 9 months. I went through a terrifying 2 weeks of not being in reality, and the most horrible feelings I’ve ever felt. Things still aren’t great. I still have trouble with the concept of time, and poor memory and sweating, but it’s getting better on a daily basis now. I’m NEVER touching a Benzo again. This has been the worst experience of my life. You are one hell of a strong person to have endured this. I hope you are loving life now!

In 2010, I went through a hellish nightmare with Ativan and Cymbalta. Those two drugs were severely interacting. Why would doctor’s prescribe that combination if it’s known to interact? Most physicians hand out scripts like it’s candy. After experiencing horrific side effects and withdrawals from those meds, I wanted to taper off of them. My true story is on my RUclips channel. Long story short, I experienced protracted withdrawal syndrome and spent many years suffering. Cymbalta and Benzos are poison. I’m fortunate to be alive. Currently, I’m 9 years FREE from Cymbalta and 8 years FREE from Benzos. I follow a holistic approach, which has significantly improved my wellness.

You're not detoxing, you're gaba receptors are damaged and may take years to heal. Every nerve cell in your brain and body have been damaged, that's why it hurts so much.

Yes it is... Don't ever let doctors poison you and blindly follow what they say to do without making sure you find out and learn all you can about all the meds that they put you on or want to put you on . Learnt that the hard way sadly .

Omg I'm sitting here crying I lost my husband 4 yrs ago been on lorazepam all the sudden 2 weeks ago I got so dizzy the whole room spun thought I had a stroke I get shaky my ears ring I feel like I'm gonna pass out for 3 weeks drs say I'm fine and a Dr friend of mine told me I'm having withdrawals even in as little as 8 hrs from last dose I take them all day long to get through my day now to feel OK.. omg thank you I have to get help to get off this poison thank you so much I feel like I'm dying ...
You're lucky you have a Dr who is allowing you to maintain your dose, after moving away from where I was originally prescribed benzos (which I've been on for 13 years now) I can't find a Dr that will give me my script because the Drs are trying to be responsible and not give out dangerous drugs. I've had to start buying my medication from Mexico so I can take .25-.50 mg a day of clonazepam when I take .25mg it only holds me over for about 8 hours at about 12 hours I can't tolerate the migraines so I have to redose, sometimes I can get to 16 hours. I try to avoid taking .50mg a day because I don't want to be on that much of it. It's so hard though.

I really appreciate that you had the courage to post this video. I’m on ambien, clonazepam and escitalopram. I juse started my journey about 2 weeks ago. My doctor cut my dosage in half. Im experiencing headaches, memory lost, weird out of body experiences at times when I’m out and the big side effect is now I’m starting to feel again…before i was numb by medication.
I pray for help me through this journey because i want to be my normal self again unmediated.
You’re tapering too fast! Look up “inner compass initiative” and read about safe tapering

Thank you for sharing this. My wife is going through the exact same thing as a result of doctor prescribed Xanax. When she started having all these problems thinking she was going to die, I went to the doctor with her and he said EXACTLY what your doctor said, "the xanax is not causing this". He said that she should UP the dosage. We decided then and there to taper off the drug. 3 months after tapering completely off the drug, my wife is STILL having many of the symptoms that you described. She is finally starting to get better, but the process is slow. God bless you and thanks for informing people how destructive these drugs are!

A doctor prescribed these awful drugs for my wife. I found out and they went down the toilet. My wife is ok.

Wow, I’m by far not a social person and I rarely involve myself into commenting videos, until you :-) Your videos are honest, genuine, and I thank the universe I found them. I can relate a 100% (I beat alcoholism and am now entering 3d week cold turkey from SSRI and benzo so yeah, it’s hell especially restless legs, i don’t get much sleep) something worth considering is what nature makes available to us. I’ve been taking CBD (medical cannabis) in either oils, e-liquids or good ol’ fashioned buds and it helping tone down the side effects. A you mentioned, the withdrawal symptoms are worse than opiates or other drugs and that’s what makes us such strong human beings. We endure, we fight so many fights, more than your average Joe. We are special, we are beautiful and we deserve to live fulfilling, happy lives. And i’m starting to tear-up lol, anyways, it is so reassuring to know there are other people out there with similar ordeals. I wish you all the best, you are a strong, beautiful woman and I’m convinced things will only get better from this point on.

@@joez3706 it has been since june 7th 2017 a year and 9 months and yes im feeling so much better especially now i feel about 90% im a completely different the hallucination i suffered from for 2 weeks really changed me for the better i dont know how to explain it but yes i am better.

@@joez3706 take your time if at all possible 8 went cold turkey from 10 years of abuse then i ws prescribed for 3 years 3mg plus a day and it was intense and dangerous but it worked for me. Does anyone around you know your doing this cause it could get weird and scarry especially when you stop. I recomend not doing this alone if at all possible. My journey may have been horrible but yours could be easier or just as intense just be prepared. When i went through it i had no idea nor did anyone around me. My brother knew i was coming off the subutex and xanax i was prescribed but i thought it was gonna be like opiate withdrawl it wasnt. 4 days into it he thought i had been eating shrooms he tried to take me to a hospital out here in cali and they just wanted to give me ativan but i was adamant about no benzos so they sent me home 2 days later my brother drove me to utah and i went into the hospital for 3 days there i slept finally and stopped hallucinating...my story is crazy so just be prepared for shit to get weird. this has been happening to me for twenty years ( being medicated for psy hiatric reasons) i recently started weening myself off some of the meds. went from 9 to 3. and i feel better but not well yet. unfortunately i took myself off klonopin and experienced seizures and more. no one told me about what would happen. of course not. my wonderful guy ive been seeing has been a great support and introduced me to your story and sent me a link for this. im crying right now because 20 years ive thought i was bat s**t crazy...i know i have issues but for a while suspected the meds had something to do with what i was experiencing. im 35. i have a life to live. i want my memory back. my self back. im going to research and figure out what these meds are doing. no more blindly trusting doctors. thank you angela.
