Methamphetamine, also called meth or crystal meth, among other names, is a psychostimulant drug mainly known for its recreational use. Methamphetamine is chemically similar to amphetamine, a drug used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, obesity and narcolepsy; but being more potent and highly addictive, methamphetamine is rarely prescribed for medical treatments. Most commonly, the drug is produced illegally, from pseudoephedrine, an ingredient in cold medicines. It can exist as white powder, pills, or bluish-white crystals, and can be consumed by swallowing, smoking, snorting, or injecting.
Methamphetamine acts to increase the amount of a neurotransmitter called dopamine in the brain. Dopamine is at the basis of the brain reward pathway, which is designed to “reward” the body for important behaviors that are essential for survival, such as feeding when hungry. Engaging in enjoyable activities causes dopamine release from dopamine-producing neurons into a space between neurons, where it binds to and stimulates its receptors on the neighboring neuron. This stimulation is believed to produce pleasurable feelings or rewarding effect.
Normally, dopamine molecules are promptly cleared from the synaptic space to ensure that the postsynaptic neurons are not over-stimulated. This is possible thanks to the action of dopamine-transporter, which channels dopamine back to the transmitting neuron.
Methamphetamine binds to dopamine-transporter and blocks dopamine re-uptake. In addition, it can enter the transmitting neuron and trigger more dopamine release. The result is that dopamine builds-up in the synapse to a much greater amount than normal. This produces a continuous over-stimulation of receiving neurons and is responsible for the prolonged and intense euphoria experienced by drug users.
At a low dose, methamphetamine stimulates the brain and can elevate mood and alertness; and by accelerating heart rate and breathing rate, it increases energy in fatigued individuals. It also reduces appetite and promotes weight loss. These seemingly “positive” effects keep users coming back for more, eventually leading to addiction and potential overdose. Long-term drug users may experience extreme weight loss, severe dental damage, and constant hyperactivity which results in anxiety, sleeping disorders and violent behaviors.
Overdose takes the drug’s effects to the extreme and can cause psychosis, heart attacks, seizures, strokes, organ failures, and even death.
Currently, there is no approved pharmacological treatment for methamphetamine addiction; the most effective treatments are cognitive behavioral therapies.

Beautiful. Being a couple months sober after relapsing 4 times; this quote is what’s been keeping me on the straight line. The one that spoke to me the loudest and seemed the clearest. So dam true lol God bless everyone fighting an addiction right now. I know it’s good but please give yourself a chance. I don’t miss waking up sick. Putting the drug before ANYONE. Letting yourself go. Destroying everything around you.
Life is so great. I have gained most of the trust I lost (some you just can’t fix). Fixed things with my lil baby. And most importantly, im able to be the father I want to be with my son. LEAVE DRUGS IN THE PAST. LIFE IS WAITING FOR YOU!!

Former meth addict. Clean for 30 years with a great family, home, and job. I was a shy kid that got excellent grades in school. The summer after my sophomore year in high school, I started drinking alcohol. I broke out of my shell a little bit because of it. I started going to parties and started to actually become one of the popular kids. Then, one night, after a few drinks someone offered me some crank. There's no way I would have tried it if I was sober, but the liquid courage in me said, "yeah, I'll try a little bit". Oh. My. God. Best feeling ever! I felt so awesome. I loved everybody. It was all big energy and great vibes. I spent several months doing it on weekends with that same feeling. It was the greatest stuff on earth.
But then I did it on more than just weekends. I started skipping school. Then I did it even more. I dropped out of school. Then I had to get a job, but my co-workers and boss did meth, too (construction jobs). I started doing it everyday. It all spiraled out of control from there. You begin to chase your tail. You need it to be able to function. Eventually you crash, though. You aren't reliable at work.....you lose your job.....you become paranoid and can't make yourself get another job. You start stealing to support your habit. You end up in jail, and eventually, prison.
Luckily, I had a strong support group that helped me get through to the other side, but a lot of people don't. Meth addicts burn the bridges of family and friend pretty quickly. I see so many meth zombies walking the streets these days and all I can say is that I'm glad I found a way out. I've seen so many great human beings destroyed by this garbage. Stay away from it at all costs.

Meth is whack, turns a normal person into a weirdo, ruins your body, end up broke and hopeless, nobody wants to be around a tweaker. Out of a month I probably slept 5 or 6 days, holding conversations with myself. Hearing whispers all the time and seeing things move around at night. Last time I used i I was up 3 days and doing yard work, when I had a heart attack at the age of 33. I was supposed to die but my God spared me again. Broke my pipe and threw away the last of my dope and been sober since. There's more to life than getting high everyday, God wants more for us than this. And yes they know, to all my tweakers.

Addiction is a choice to go overboard with anything more often then not daily abuse which creates a habit, all in all a habit remains a choice unless the inner thoughts are changed of the person from pro addiction to con addiction, withdrawl is the person not fully believing the cons of the habit ie. Sitting on the fence. Mind renewal is the only way to quit with or without withdrawals. The mind is a powerful thing especially when coupled with prayer&meditation and a new routine.

I seriously get this prescribed from my doctor in low doses to treat my ADD, and it really helps because from my ADD I have a naturally low dopamine level and this helps it rise to the level of a person without ADD. I can also conform the side effects. I have lost 20kg in 2 months, have a low desire for food, because of the raised blood pressure you are more easily cold and have a higher heart rate and way more energy. I have been taking it for two years daily and the side effects are almost unnoticeable, the only thing that is still an issue sometimes is sleeping problems and a really dry mouth.

Meth turned me into a masturbation addict. I didn't want to do meth without the anticipation of masturbation and now I don't care to masturbate without it. I am sober now and like that I don't masturbate even as much as I did before doing meth. I am in a field of study in masturbation and am now able to view pornography for algorithm study without feeling the need to masturbate or even get an erection. I think masturbation is a natural thing in life and meth can turn it into an addiction. I'm sure it can with sex as well. Take care if you are in recovery and don't substitute meth with any other substance or behavior. You will be more successful.

Night after night I'd pray lord deliver me from for I am to weak. My last time using was on a grayhound bus where I snorted 5 lines of crystal off the sink in the bathroom of this bus. I've been up for 3 days and sleep deprivation set in an I was tripping hard. I had a panic attack after seeing a demon in the window where I was sitting. When I finally got home I prayed and asked God to forgive me and to drive these demons from head while playing hymns on my phone and sure as the world I went outside after being home and I was instantly sober and I've been clean since

Daily? damn that's risky as fuck.....anyone thinkin about it I highly recommend you never smoke it, just eat and keep it a very low dose and long breaks in between. I think the problem with this drug is that it's very very potent and its very easy to accidentally abuse and become dependent on it. It usually goes very down hill from there...if u must try,. know that your playing with fire

If you're still struggling, maybe try the Allen Carr's "Easyway" method. It was primally designed, to quit smoking (with evidence of 90% people who succeeded). I'm not entirely sure, but I think he also uses this method to help people quit any addiction. Afterall for the brain meth still works like smoking - but stronger. Hope you will get better buddy

Doing this ones every 4 to 6 weeks already since 4 years. The reason that I cant do it more often is because when I do it I am awake for 2 nights and feel like shit after. After that I need to eat properly ( because I dont do it for 2 days) and exercise.. after a week im back to normal again. But yes.. It is dangerous and if you are addiction sensitive even more dangerous.

The reason i used it because i do a bad thing, but after I do a good thing (speak polite word to people around me, share money to poor people, help other person like we are senior help junior "my colleague", love my family than other like share money to mom and used polite word to mom and dad , if you don't have money just share your old clothes to poor people)......than I don't feel used it anymore.
