Just imagine being a 19 year old in 1989 and hearing this blistering guitar in "Seventeen" shredding your eardrums --- and then realizing the guitarst was from my hometown!
@JoeZaccaris - Same here...Didn't realize till later that he was from the 'burgh. Class of '87 from the South Hills burbs myself. Glad he's still rocking...And his vocals are sick.
I was a teenager in the '80s learning to play guitar when Winger debuted... the musicianship was great for such a band (Rod Morgenstein on drums was a legend). I remember watching the video for Seventeen for the first time, and my jaw dropping when the solo came on.
What I love about his playing is he makes great use of space when playing songs and I can hear all the notes when he does the faster licks. I wasn’t much of a hair metal as much as thrash but now I can appreciate it today.
Reb is Paul Gilbert-esque… technically very gifted… I have seen Reb many times live and never misses a note.. even if he does, it sounds lovely haha…Paul, Reb, and Nuno are my faves
Reb Beach is nothing like Paul Gilbert. They are 100% different with nothing at all in common other than they're both very good players. The note choice is totally different, the phrasing is different and the technique is light years apart. How did you work out that these two players are similar?
@@georgekaraspyros3835 you are absolutely right, their voicing and phrasing and attack is totally different, but both technically very gifted... PG is my fave from a technical standpoint.. but yes, you are correct.
@@georgekaraspyros3835 Not to mention that Reb is one of the few guitar heroes who is not really good at alternate picking, in which Paul is one of the best. ;)
I clearly remember the first time I heard Black Magic on the "Guitars that Rule the World" release. I wet my pants then...and I still do. Some of the most tasty music ever!
Reb is one of the original guitar players from the 80s, who has been getting better!. Paul Gilbert is one of my favorites, but Reb Beach is getting up there!!
Reb Beach is my favorite rhythm player of his generation. Heard him on the 1986 Chaka Khan track So Close…his rhythm was fluid and richly textured. His chord progressions showed a higher level of compositional intelligence than any of his peers. To my ears Reb’s approach is more in the vein of Edward Van Halen.
Reb is awesome. Bought his instructional video from a second hand shop back in the early 2000's, that was my introduction to Reb. Been a fan ever since.
Oh no, I missed this premiere 😥 .. Sorry .. Reb Beach is so amazing, creative and has done so many great songs and catchy riffs and solos with many bands and artists. And about his solo stuff 🎸 I' ll mention that the song called Hoboken from the last album is absolutely amazing. Like all the other songs on this album, but Hoboken is special to me. Thank you so much for posting and sharing this guitar clinic video 🙏 I really appreciate it.
@@mattmacarthur520 Ok. He has ZERO soul. No feeling. He's a tapper. He's great technically.....but he is the OPPOSITE of next level. He is one of a billion show off players.
Someone gave my a copy of cassete tape of "Guitars That Rule the World". I couldn't believe what I heard as a intro song - Black Magic. Blown away! I couldn't figure what is this kind of guitar technique 'till later when I got VHS lessons of Reb's CUTTING LOOSE ... these crazy WRB and RBM Ibanezes... Such a uinique and tastefull guitarist!
Back in 1988, my guitar teacher and every magazine used to tell students "Make sure to use your pinkie, Make sure your pinkie is included in every exercise!" It's amazing to see how many pro's and very successful guitar players tuck it away and don't even try to include it.
I don't know if Reb has a solo album, but I have heard some of these tunes and he's clearly a shredder, but quite different from all in his phrasing. It's fresh.
He’s released an EP “Masquerade”, and recently a solo album “A View From The Inside”- the songs played above are early solo tunes “Black Magic” & “Cutting Loose”, and “Seventeen” from Winger’s debut album
Masquerade is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Was hoping is like the new one just as much, but it didn't take. Still, a fantastic talent he is
Damn, what a killer guitarist! I thought Richie Faulkner was the best contemporary hard rock shredder, but he surely has got stiff competition from this incredible guy here. The new Black Swan record is great, and the solos (and riffs) are out of this world!
Man what a beast on the guitar !!! He almost reminds me of Vito Bratta because of his tremendous melody and phrasing with his solos ie tapping !!! Ridiculous I’m learning the silo right now for seventeen and it’s pretty cool thanks Reb
So I came here and started the video like…. “ Let’s see this old Dethklok looking…………WAIT WHAT??” God Dman! Reb Beach still KILLS it! Seventeen is still one of the best guitar rich jams ever
I can learn from every electric-guitar player that unless you understand the accoustics surrounding you the difficulties of picking up that beast of an instrument can not be easy to disect. And, thank you Reb Beach your prog-rock abilities!!!
It's so weird seeing all our guitar heroes getting older. I remember seeing them all when they were in their early 20s. So odd how time flies. I hate it. Still sounds great though.
Just imagine being a 19 year old in 1989 and hearing this blistering guitar in "Seventeen" shredding your eardrums --- and then realizing the guitarst was from my hometown!
I was there! Been a fan of reb Beach since I bought self titled winger on cd.
I was born September 69 so I was literally that kid and yes indeed I was totally blown away!
Same. Guitar dork since 14. Class of 87

Go Steelers! How's DC Cooper doing these days? 🙂
Reb is one of the most underrated amazing guitarist to walk the planet. The man is phenomenal and always has been. He can shred with best.
And a nice guy too
I wouldn’t worry about where he’s rated. He’s made plenty of money and is doing fine.
Word!
Not underrated at all in my opinion.
Reb is such a great player!

That's exactly what happened to me,when i watched Seventeen for the first time, that solo blew me away, still have goosebumps when i hear.

Always excellent indeed.
after hearing the solos in the album Karma from Winger, that was it... what an incredible guitarist
Must be tough playing some of the best gear in the world lol .Reb would kick ass on any gear. Guy is a beast.

Me too. That album that I had as cassette had blown me away.
Same!!! I hadn’t heard that song in 20 years maybe, but it all came back as he played it!
Same. And "Cutting Loose". However, his output since then has been disappointing.

Paul Gilbert!!👍
@@nekhonuchuzho7141 Paul Gilbert is a clown. He plays Buckethead too and denies it. CLOWN
Love his rhythms 🎶🎶🎶🍊🍊🍊😼🎸
Reb ...Is a beast on guitar .
Reb and Doug in Whitesnake were the best. Nothing comes close.
That seventeenth solo is such a classic ❤
Reb is a joy to watch and listen to live. Caught Winger at the Whiskey a few years back and better than ever.
He's character is as kind and cool as his skillz are insane!
Reb is the man. I saw him live 2 months ago for the first time. Spot on. Just killed it.
We are lucky to have a such a cool shop like Pitbull Audio to bring players like Reb to San Diego.
one of my guitar idol, from guitars that rule the world

Reb is kick ass!! That last one is such a cool song!! Great album period! One of my top 10 favorite 6 stringers for sure.
Suhr GUITARS are sweet, Rebs Gold Floyd and EMGs are a killer Combo, Pit Bull hope The Clinic went smashing 🤘🎸🤠
Reb played on the Erase the slate album by Dokken and he absolutely killed it. If you don't know the album I strongly recommend checking it
Still great! Just like I heard him on the record back in the 80s. Amazing control.

Love this guy, Fantastic!!
Reb took syncopation the next level… love that sound.. I am here for it! Haah
Go Reb!!!! Kick ass!!!!! What a talent!!!!
Its amazing that a guy with a completely paralyzed left pinky finger can play so well.
Reb is a very talented musician and a heck of a nice guy as well. I think he's underrated.
Unbeatable! Unstoppable! Only A Very Few Come Even Close To This Man! #RebBeach
Man, such a pleasure to watch Reb play!
Beautiful style and awesome licks, by far my favorite guitarist!
Love listening to 80s guitarists just noodle around. Such a free spirit. Thx for sharing and thx to Reb for making my practice my tapping more.
Wow. I could watch and listen to him play all day. That was amazing. Thanks for this.
Wow, I love this guy 🤘🏼😎, kick-ass shredding
Gosh I always loved you playing. You have your own style and I know when it's you playing.
Been a huge fan for over 30 years, i just randomly found out he's playing live in my neck of the woods in october ...yeaaaah!
He looks and sounds like he still loves to play
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man, this guy can really shred!
I have his signature on my Marshall JCM 2000 DSL head! Too proud❤
What an absolute legend ! And such a pleasure to watch and listen to!
Easily as great a guitarist as any of the A listers we all know - really hard to understand why he doesn’t get the same attention. He’s next level.
Ummmmm, no. He's not on a top level. He's great, but so is everyone else.

OMG, Cutting loose is such a powerful track. Hail Reb beach.
Black magic too

Still getting better by the day!
Always loved Reb's playing so much! He just has that touch were everything he plays sounds great. Him and Vito are super under-appriciated imo
That was bad-ass.
Catchy melodic riffs abound from this cat. Others can play but Reb Beach really swings.
