I once ran into Kip Winger right on my doorstep in Cologne/Germany some years ago. he asked me for the way which I told him. He thanked me politely, replied "no problem Mr Winger". the look on his face: priceless. I should have worn my White zombie shirt though haha. Love Winger and Reb Beach, great musicians!
@@edcollins9377 how is marks singing nowadays? ...lol And if you think Kip is a bad bassist you have no idea how to play a bass and that Blondie from slaughter couldn't hold kip's jock strap.
💯! That comment they made is some of the most uninformed, illogical 💩 I've ever heard! It's comedy! good to see you call it out 👍@@FitnessFactoryOutletQuakertown
gone are the days of multimillion dollar producers, this really shows Kips musical talent. he can write, play, arrange, and produce. a complete musician.
Winger was always one of my favorites. I don't care what the naysayers say, or what Beavis and Butthead had to say. Kip Winger writes modern day classic music. Most people can't even grasp reading music, let alone writing it. Love seeing Reb and Kip collaborate. Two underrated musicians to come out of the 80s
Kip Winger is a cool dude. A lot of thrashers viewed him as a pretty boy poser, they couldnt have been more wrong. The dude is an awesome composer outside of Metal/Glam
He was and still is a pretty boy... but I'm reluctant to say poser... IMHO.. I think that the thrasher bands were a little jealous of Kip on different levels. Let's face it... Lars isn't much to look at from a female's point of view ...and I'll go one further since I've met Lars.. he's pretty much an ass. Just speaking from first hand experience. The whole Winger band is great... I've met Reb briefly and he's a super nice guy... If I had to guess, I'd say that the record label had a lot to do with public perception of the band on a whole. But that was then ... now, sounds like they are better than they were.... I have to give kudos to those who come back after such a long period of time and sound even better.
AMEN to That. When I came home with my unit at Ft. Stewart,GA after Desert Storm,WINGER played a Welcome Home 24th Inf Div Concert,THEY KICKED ASS !! Really started getting into Reb's Playing, and took My guitar Skills WAY UP a notch ! Kip is WAY Underrated, and,It's GOOD he started to get back into his music after his lovely Wife had passed. Glad he and Reb hooked back up. Reb's Awesome in Whitesnake,BUT,He and Kip sound BEST when playing together.
I saw Winger in concert at the Santa Monica Civic Center I believe in 91 and they were amazing!! That Reb Beach was probably one of the best soloist guitarist I've ever seen.
This DVD ("The Making of Winger IV") is what inspired me to actually learn how to record. I watched this DVD after buying it at a Winger show in Charlotte on their IV tour, and was floored that they were doing this themselves at home (keep in mind, this was 2006). I remember thinking "Whoa...They are doing that at home? Themselves? I want to learn how to do that." So thank you Winger, for the inspiration!
I hate that I missed seeing that show on the Winger IV tour. I did finally get to see them on the Karma tour in Charlotte at Amos's South End two years later. One of the greatest bands I have ever seen live to this day.
I've lived in Michigan January 1991, Easy Come Easy Go music video was aired endlessly, so I remembered every note and the guitar solo for 12 years ahead without hearing it until I saw it again on RUclips and bursted into tears
This behind the scenes footage is awesome! I could watch this stuff all day! It's so interesting to watch the creative process, and to see how they come up with riffs and songs.
Great to see Kip Winger at work! Definitely a musical dude. Reb's talent probably makes it a pure joy for Kip to play with someone who can play what they both hear. Nice video. Thanks.
Such a great look into the song writing process! Went into the studio after seeing this the first time and went off the cuff like Reb. Such an inspiration!
I'm a kind of surprised while watching this and seeing how they fun on creation process. 'Cause "IV" is ALL TIME MOST UNDERRATED ALBUM RECORD and in its genre, i can easly say a way MASTERPIECE! It has so much detail like a supreme jazz essentials and there is no way to get bored with it! Piece of ART!
Whenever I see this video, it makes me think of two high school kids after school, working on their garage band. I keep expecting to hear, "Kip? KIP! Quit screwing around with Reb and take out the garbage!"
This video is exactly why I love Winger so much. Kip Winger and Reb Beach are extremely phenomenal songwriters and players. Reb Beach in my opinion is an extremely underrated guitar player. This coming April will be my third time seeing him live. The first time I saw him was in 2000 with Dokken, than I saw him 2010 with Winger on the Karma tour, and now finally I will get to see him with Whitesnake. I am really looking forward to this one because it will be my first time seeing Whitesnake. Whitesnake's 1987 self titled album and Slide It In are some of the most amazing albums I have ever listened to especially 1987 self titled album.
One of many Metallica fans that discarded Winger over a game of darts and a Beavis and Butthead video, but realizing and appreciating now just what great musicians these guys really are. It’s a whole different kind of chops as a player. Excited to learn some Winger.
Reb and Kip are THE BEST ! Man,I'd love to stop over at the house with a guitar and amp and Jam a little bit with these guys,Then,I could Die Happy : )
Dude I hope one day I will be able to jam with these two guys! Me and the boys back in the day used to jam like this all the time. minus the recording!

It's scarey just how knowledgable about music theory Kip Winger is.... Mind Blowing, & he's such a nice guy in person, too.
He is a musical genius
Slaughter was better! Dana Strum blew Kip away on bass and he was a much better songwriter. Mark Slaughter could sing circles around Kip, too.

I can watch these 2 work all day!

Dean Ladue never got the proper respect all because Metallica hated him and headbangers labeled him a pretty boy.
Indeed.
....all that on a simple home recording setup. :D
And a complete tool....17 on acoustic at oil palace in tyler was rotten
Kip and Beach are great mate ...
I hate these "underrated" comments but Reb Beach is really an underrated guitarist!
Nailed it. Too many people slept on Reb Beach. Dude is phenomenal.
Legend has it that Kip can be an absolute riot in the studio! yet, 100% focused on job at hand. that's talent, something no music teacher can teach.

Agree with you 100%. None of Winger were posers - all those guys were, and still are, incredible, world-class musicians all had serious chops.
I AM Joseph McCarthy his voice is rad, even at this moment.
And 4 is by far one of the best albums ever. Ill put it on top 10.
Their musical bond is amazing which is why they have remained together. Watching Kip work is staggering!!!!!!!!!!
The riffs are soo damm good!!!

Man watching Kip Winger just fuels need to want to go ahead and get stuff done, there's more substance to him than I ever thought
This musical chemistry is so magical. I love that these guys just geeked out and made tunes together like this.
Wow
to have that energy and passion as well as the obvious chemistry. After all this time.....great stuff!
Such an amazing guitarist and Kip is one hell of a singer and writer!
Great friendship, a real treasure these days, especially with regard to the "big" music business. I see two good friends
I could watch this kind of thing ALL DAY LONG. Love being a fly on the wall witnessing talent ooze from talented musicians.
I've lived in Michigan January 1991,
Easy Come Easy Go music video was aired endlessly,
so I remembered every note and the guitar solo for 12 years ahead without hearing it until I saw it again on RUclips and bursted into tears
Both are incredible musicians. Reb is killing it as usual.🎉
It's cool to see, that they still have fun & how enthusiastic they're,working on their music.
Kip and Reb have both aged well!
Loved winger as a youth. New material sounds great.
Man,I miss the 80's
cool to see such phenomenal musicians having fun and recording.
This behind the scenes footage is awesome! I could watch this stuff all day! It's so interesting to watch the creative process, and to see how they come up with riffs and songs.
One of my favorite bands ever, always fun to see them recording!
Damn that riff. I can’t get it out of my head! So awesome.
It is so Cool to see how they work together!
Great to see Kip Winger at work! Definitely a musical dude. Reb's talent probably makes it a pure joy for Kip to play with someone who can play what they both hear. Nice video. Thanks.
Wow watching a couple of my favorite musical pros creating live ....
AWESOME and humbling.
Love these guys!!!!
Just so ya guys know, we ARE listening and this is some of your BEST.
Watching for the 100th time just because of Mr. Beach!
I’ve never listened much to winger. What a great video. Super talented people.
The quality and sound of this album became one of my favourites, and didn't know that they recorded and produced themselves, mindblowing
Such a great look into the song writing process! Went into the studio after seeing this the first time and went off the cuff like Reb. Such an inspiration!
Super talented musicians
Watching this is so inspiring to finish up my own original material. 8)
Where is it! :)

Totally agree. I, too, consider this album a masterpiece!
Winger IV is such a fantastic album! Great mix of classic Hardrock and Prog!
Ahahaha Reb! Cool process

Cool to get a little insight into how these guys come up with new rhythms and tunes in a simple home studio like this..
These guys are some of the best.
Looking good baby love now and then!!! ❤
I love watching the process. Like mad scientists in their laboratory.

Wonderful to see them having so much fun. It's not hard to keep doing the same type of music you played in your 20s as your tastes evolve.
I know people rip on Winger but Reb is an amazing player and Kip is one hell of a writer and producer!!!

What is this?? Never heard of them! Holy shit! This sounds so insane!
This was a badass jam. Kip played a different bass line for the album version of this song in the end and I like this one better.
