He was one the most renown players back in the day. He was on the cover of countless guitar zines and his guitar clinics use to pack the house, wherever they were.

I've been to that music store many times but never run into Reb. We grew up only 10 miles away from each other.
I grew up in Pittsburgh too and N'Stuff Music is the best music store around. Love Reb's playing. Seems like a great guy too.

Love his legato tapping licks, but I noticed he doesn't do a whole lot of fast alternate picking. Seems like he breaks out the two-hand tapping thing for the faster stuff.

From 5:23 on...oh yeah. Because of Reb, I now work more on tapping techniques more than I alt pic. There's so much you can do with this technique. Yes, I still love alt picking, I just don't put the same emphasis on it. Its all goo stuff.......

Awesome strat. Wish Suhr would offer the Original Floyd Rose trems on models. There is a whole different feel from the Gotoh floyds.
Tony Cugliari John Suhr has stated that quality has dropped on Original Floyd Rose units which is why he went with Gotoh units.
Bullshit,he's just a cheapass,who wants to charge his customers more money for less guitar.The proper OFR is made by Schaller in Germany,with german stainless steel,not some funky metal alloy.He also,doesn't want to offer Hipshot Contour trem system,because they're too expensive to buy from Hipshot USA.

Really? I’d bet nobody could tell the difference in a blind test. I still keep one guitar with an original floyd, but it’s a really ugly heavy bit of kit. Personally I prefer the Fender two point mount bridges these days. I feel more connected to the guitar and with locking tuners the tuning stability is fine. I’ve always found that floyds and other locking tremolos feel remote and heavy.
I have a question .. have all Reb guitars the same neck width. I am playing RBM 10 and it is narrower than my other guitars it makes it more difficult to play.
At 3:26 - is he slapping the string with his ring finger (in the place of picking the string)? I've never see that up close, I used to think he was just tapping and muting with his ring finger as he wammied... but I'm curious if anyone here knows for sure what the technique is there.
I just cannot figure out how to do those left handed tapped harmonics the way he does them.

Jamie E everyone’s different but if you want to get this good as fast as you can, the best way is a good teacher. Don’t believe anyone who tells you the self taught way.
Guys like this usually spend 8-10 hours a day to get like this
It depends how motivated your are and talent plays its part, but you need to have the guitar in your hands almost all of your waking hours for years, pushing yourself to get better all of the time.
