      kevin lif. I’m sure Travolta inspired this character but no. The character is just supposed to be a huge douche from New York that thinks he’s the shit basically. If you think about it, the only thing Travolta and Dice Clay have in common is the hair and maybe the jacket. Other than that, they’re nothing a like

    in 1987 when I was 10 years old I sat in front of tv with adults and watched one of ADC's comedy specials....people in the room were drinking and smoking cigarettes...cursing...whatever adults do at party's they were doing it. I grew up to be a respectful , well mannered and responsible person. most 10 year olds today are coddled into thinking the world is a fluffy cloud of joy where everyone is focused on their well being and everything is PG....no surprise that life hits this generation of young ppl hard when they get out in it.

    Just so you guys know, even at the time, this was over-the-top crazy obvious offensive, but on purpose. Clay was a "shock comic" playing a ridiculous character. Only thing was, a lot of people didn't understand it was a joke, and Clay was (very briefly) both the most successful and the most controversial comedian on the planet. People on SNL quit the show when he was hired to host, and he received a lifetime ban from MTV. Kind of ridiculous, looking back now.

    • @MrWirelesscaller
      @MrWirelesscaller Год назад +2

      I have no problem with him making jokes like that, comedy shouldn't be censored, and people should set their joke "woke" attitudes out of the room if they're too offended. I'm half Japanese and thought his joke was funny about the nuke, squinting, and dental floss blindfold. People now days are overly too sensitive, virtue signaling, unable to realize it's just a joke, and need to grow some thicker skin.

    The thing you have to understand about Dice is, his material always was, and always will be controversial. He is one of 5 comedians in history to ever SELL OUT Madison Square Garden. Sadly times have changed a lot and this type of comedy may be frowned upon. Everyone is too politically correct. I could see Ashtyn getting uncomfortable , and than digressing to conversation about the pets at the end. While Jon clearly thought this was funny ( although controversial) he covered his mouth as if it were shameful. Hopefully you enjoy any upcoming skits you find. Love comedy reactions

    This is from 87 (31 years ago) i as 13 at the time. They could get away with a lot more back then. It was the funniest shit i ever heard. It is admittedly teen humor. Some things are still funny, but it relies a lot on the shock value of it all.

    Dice is an acquired taste for sure. If you were a long haired metal head in the 80's as me and my friends were, you learned this guys stuff and repeated it at work, parties, wherever... He was big, edgy, and hilarious. I guarantee you Jon would enjoy his act more if he weren't right next to Ashtyn but rather sharing a joint with his best buddies. Now "GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE...OH!"

    He was just in character. He was a shock comedian that got shut down with the PC movement. MTV banned him because he was really hard on women (I said hard on). I think he got a shitty deal and will always be a fan of the DICE MAN.

    • @rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266
      @rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 2 года назад

      I think it was fair the blowback he received, not because he really deserved it but because it was expected to happen. His offensive comedy turned shit inside out. I mean, while "transgressive" comedy is usually crude and dirty, the Diceman character is the synthesis of everything rude, on steroids. He is so offensive even back then he got "cancelef" by PC babies back when SJWs were on diapers.

    • @rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266
      @rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266 2 года назад

      His transgressive streak is what made him famous, it was expected to eventually generate blowback. Once he run with that act, he signed for both.

    He was big back in the eighties as the character Dice and made a name. He's a big sweetheart in private. That was what comedy is entertainment and at that time the changing culture was just a lot worse than you still have people who he personified today like the President handsome of his supporters. That is why there will always be a constant back and forth because of the old school has to die to make a new school then repeat.

    Dice’s comedy was way more shocking than any of the others. That was the point. He was playing an over-the-top character. It allowed him to say things that people thought/did but could never say themselves.

    A lot of people didn't like this guy even back in the 80s. I remember SNL, they would have a different host every week. When he was the host of SNL, there were people in the audience booing him and making chants like, "Clay, Clay, go away!" This was while he was doing his routine. I have never seen that happen to anyone else on SNL, ever.

    I've heard others make the Grease reference. Dice predated Grease.
