Diceman was/is a great character because Andrew is a fine character actor. If the things that came out of his mouth on stage were his personal views, I could see people being upset. But he is playing a character. I saw him many years ago at Pips in Sheepshead Bay. This was before he was a household name. And we spoke with him after the show. He was congenial, he was intelligent, soft spoken, and a very nice guy. People just get too uptight because they’re ignorant and he’s so good at what he does that they buy it. But that’s not Andrew Silverstein. It’s the Diceman that you’re buying. Andrew is simply an entertainer/comedian.

I remember when this aired. I tried to call just to show my support but couldn't get through. I could never understand why he got hammered by people for his "vulgarity " when Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and most black comedians were doing the same type of act and nobody said anything. Probably felt threatened by him.

George Carlin did it in a more critique like manner of how stupid society was/is growing. even Robin Williams pulled out a few racy and vulgar jokes that made seasoned comics when he was starting out go "what the hell drugs am i not getting?"
