I started guessing names of strangers dogs. Closest I got was guessing Ozzy and the tiny dogs name ended up being Izzy. One vowel off; the old dude who owned the dog was very confused.
He doesn’t even hesitate :D

I would've upped it to an 8.1 automatically, for the way that slice was removed. He's eaten at many classic Chicago places, tries to grab a slice and it's just a crumbly ball of cheese, sauce etc, a mess. That slice slid right out and kept it's form, I loved that.
Technically deep dish is ate with a fork and knife and not by the hands. Lol that’s why his shit just becomes a mess
@@Mclovin69270 Oh yeah, I get it. But that's also why I think it's very commendable that his slice came out with literally no mess. A deep dish pizza, piled sky high with toppings and all, and it still came out with ease, like a thin pizza. I'd love to actually go to Chicago to try that pizza.
My exact thoughts.. and it genuinely looked good too.. like the perfect amount of everything. And the sauce is thick enough to relax on top
@@Mclovin69270 What? I'm from here and we eat it like any other pizza. Technically you're wrong.
@@stealth-x2995 I’m from CHicago too. Don’t get ass hurt. I’ve worked in pizza restaurants. I’m just saying what I’ve seen.
I’m surprised it wasn’t an 8+ the fact that it was still easy to remove a slice with no flop is amazing for a deep dish and the crust looks like it was on par with Dave’s standards. This deserved an 8.0 just from what I saw, but maybe that’s just me 🤷♂️

I've been to Uno's, and it was everything the critics reviewed that place. And it was delicious and it was an honor try Chicago's birth place to deep dish!
Best pizza in the city
had a great experience at Uno's
Bro, those are by far, the best pizzas of all time. I remember I went to Chicago with my youth group way back in the day and everyone else was freaking out about the pizza there and I was like, "what's the big deal, it's pizza, of course it's good???" Then I took one bite and still havnt forgotten it 15 years later. Dave is tripping. It's a hard ten.
You’ve never been to new haven
@@Not_A_JTAC East coast thin isn't that good to me. There's a fundamental taste difference. City people in general are too loud and obnoxious about their stuff but it's a bit more acute on the east coast, so they win the pizza game.
@@guyincognito320 to each their own, new haven isn’t a big city at all 100k population. But widely recognized as the top pizza area. I like Chicago style and Detroit as well all solid pizza but new haven is #1 in my eyes.

I love how Dave could easily sit down inside these places and be accommodated, yet he chooses to struggle standing up outside every review.
Edit: I know why he does it, I meant my comment mostly as a joke. The absurdity of this gavone struggling with a huge pizza box in the wind, the cold, etc., without bringing a plate, a chair, an extra guy to help, or anything is really funny to me when you remember his net worth.
Lmfao I just realized that too.
It’s part of the experience 😂😂
That’s cuz when u meet the owner and plan with them you are more inclined to give fake review.

My big thing about Dave with Chicago pizza is he's not getting the sausage deep dishes. Chicago is famous for its sausage ever since it was a meat packing city. All of these different pizza places do the sausage deep dish differently with some having this like, mega sausage patty that covers the entire pizza.
I agree with the sausage, but crumbles for me. The patty is a little overwhelming and not conducive to my diet.

Dave, this looked bomb. Good presentation and quality. It deserved at least an 8. Glad you gave them a shout out - it will be my first place to eat next time I'm in Chicago.

for fork and knife deep dish pizza, it's very impressive how little to no flop there was. I've been to an Uno's in Florida
Yeah, that was impressive... as well as how easily the pieces came apart, and how the cheese broke off after a little stretch. Choking hazard avoided!
Uno's anywhere else other than Chicago isn't the real Uno's.
@@xkristixx I agree, that’s why I had to have Frank Pepe’s at the original location rather than a branch. I’m sure they’re all very similar but the original locations of restaurants taste better according to Prez himself
@@mbj920 I mean like night and day difference though. I just hate when people have told me they had deep dish pizza because they went to Uno's in some random state. It is not deep dish style anywhere else. Haha.
@@xkristixx I understand completely, until I visit Chicago, the chain location will be the closest I can get to trying authentic deep dish lol
As a true southerner, I love deep dish. I also love pizza with extra sauce. Never been to Uno's, but I'll definitely try it now (when Chicago becomes sane again and not the murder capital).
Dave petting the dog being the *most replayed* section of the video is great.
There used to be an Uno in St Louis and it was so nice to have a great deep dish spot. It's far better than all of the other places in Chicago strictly because of how much more pizza like it is than pie like. You can hold a slice in your hand and eat it and not dig through 2" of toppings with a fork to get some soggy crust
i was expecting tons of flop on that deep dish but man that was a solid slice he picked up
For real
they're all solid, they're like 10" thick.
Very well done which is the way it should be cooked, I love pizza well done and crunchy.
One fatso in a pizzeria at 11:45 a.m, everyone knows he's describing me.
I remember eating the frozen Uno's growing up, never actually got to eat a restaurant but I liked them. It's different but it is still good
"Hi Joey" hahaha what the hell . That's gold and I have no idea why.
Got to hand it to him, when he first opened the box and the steam came out of this big thick thing with boiling tomato sauce on top I thought hell no he can’t eat that standing up but he did. I consider deep dish pizza not a pizza pie but a pizza cake. Completely different.
@Prosper Meniere have you ever tasted one?
It’s closer to lasagna. Delicious though!
Pizza means pie, so it's not a pie pie, it's a pie cake? Lol
This place is so nostalgic. Checker floor, tiny, old smell....I love it. This place was the last time I had deep dish, about 4 years ago. And I'm a Chicagoan. You can't compare your thins, you're going by cheese pizza. Our cheese is better, sausage blows everyone else's out of the water, although you may have better crust in NY
Uno's crust is better, there is a lot of butter in the crust and as you can see it is almost pastry.
dave can’t open pizza boxes after 700 reviews. everyone knows the rules
He is too occupied trying to figure out the names of the pizza places and intersections, where he is doing the review
Haven't had Uno's in a good while, but we used to go to the original location like in this vid, back in the the 70's, and 80's. And yeah, they were always good. Everyone back then across the board was doing a really good job with Pizza in Chicago. I even once had a Sausage Deep Dish at an Uno's In Las Cruces, NM about 10 years ago, and it was pretty good, and I was pleasantly surprised. I also recall Pizza Due. Again like I say, all was good back in the day. Often not the case now at current day. There's a lot of CaCa out there.
I found this channel yesterday and damn this man made me go out and get a pizza.
the dogs reaction when he smelled the pizza haha 2:56
Dave says a lot of nonsense in his pizza reviews, but his opinion on Chicago deep dish vs. Chicago pub style is spot on. I don't have a clue why so many locals hate on deep dish. Thin crust pizza is everywhere, and Chicago tavern style isn't even close to the best example. Chicago deep dish is one of the most unique styles of pizza you can find though, and it's delicious.
Agree 100%. Had Vito and Nick's recently for the first time and while it was good, nothing stood out about it. I don't get this hipster/purist fascination with the tavern style. Give me a Lou Malnati's or a Burt's Place any day of the week over the tavern.
Never had a pizza that style, but I can imagine the tomato sauce reducing in the heat of the oven makes it taste more intense.
They are beautiful... I sweet sauce so when you get one with sweet its amazing
the crust won't get soggy from the sauce because it has cheese protecting it. The chicago sauce is suppose to have chunks of tomato more like stewed tomatoes, not just sauce.
@So Sexy i'm Sexy TOGTFO.
@@brian6speed Sold! Just need to save enough to get to Chicago, not get shot then visit this pizza place. Looks totally scrummy to be honest. I'd have to make that myself in England, never seen anything like it here. Chopped tomatoes (tinned) over here sound like the consistency you described, rather than passata or sieved tomatoes.
Yup. Same reason you cook down pasta sauce/red gravy for two hours minimum. At least in my family.

the problem with deep dish is after you eat it you cant move for 2 days.
Bill's Pizza in Mundelein IL. Try the double decker pizza there. Not the thin cust. It's sort of a hybrid of thin and deep dish. Very unique and tasty.
deep dish chicago pizza is just my favorite, I love how cheesy it is, and I prefer sauce a bit heavier/tangier like it is. In chicago itself, pequods is my favorite. but you cant go wrong with unos or other famous brands really either, theyre all mostly decent.
Su Casa is a true Chicago classic restaurant. Glad to finally see Dave experiencing real Chicago pizza.
As a Chicagoan, I actually take my friends out for both. Most want to try the deep dish and I'm down with it. Love me some deep dish, but also love some tavern style pizza as well.
hey greg
Do you bring an uzi with you
Born and raised Chicagoan. I love tavern style pizza, but I also love deep and stuffed pizza. I suggest visitors to the city to try both and see what they like. I will disagree with Dave, though, about East Coast thin crust being better since Chicago's tavern style isn't trying to compete with that style of pizza. Tavern style is just competing with other tavern styles within the city and metro area. I will agree that Chicagoans would probably benefit to embracing deep and stuff pizza more.
I never truly bought into the "tavern is real and deep and/or stuffed is not real" like some people in Chicago do. I get the feeling it's mostly the people trying too hard to be an "authentic" Chicagoan. But hey, I also have no issue people putting ketchup on their hotdogs.
It's awfully strange that people are so gung ho about certain food cultures while they're so laissez faire about other things that are arguably far more important in the grand scheme of things. In the case of Chicago style pizza, I advocate for each style to be pushed to the forefront to put it deeper on the food map and to cultivate a more fraternal food rivalry within the city. The "tavern is for real Chicagoans" is elitism that screams fake accomplishment and insecurity.
Born & raised Chicagoan here too but living on the East Coast. NY pizza just doesn't even compare in my book. It is like saying hamburgers & hot dogs are the same.
Life long native here. I was with you until that “ketchup on hot dogs” stunt you pulled. Now you are dead to me. I’ll have to go drink Half Acre Beers and Malort to forget i even read those words.
The "tavern is real Chicago style and not deep dish" comments tend to be stated by people who live in the suburbs and want to try and flex Chicago muscle, even though they're not Chicagoans. The same people who call Chicago "Chi-Town" or "Chi-Raq". Both of which are annoying.
Tavern style is more of that day to day, something quicker to order type pizza, but people saying "Deep Dish isn't real Chicago pizza" are simply wrong. More of a special occasion pizza, or what you bring to someone from out of town, but it IS absolutely Chicago style pizza and should be embraced. And also the best pizza place in Chicago (Pequod's - which is the best, regardless of Dave's idiotic score on it) is known for deep dish.

Here's something to keep in mind with the "Go-to deep dish" comment.. While Chicago does have awesome deep dish, being born and raised in Chicago, local neighborhoods didn't have Uno's, Lou Malnati's, or Giordano's.. So we were raised on local mom & pop's pizza shops in the neighborhood, and thin crust square cut was the normal, which is not pan style, or deep dish..
Exactly Chicago is square style tavern pizza first deep dish is when we go out eat lol
Everyone that is local here knows tavern style is the best.
