  • The Th3d Studio 50w Heater Cartridge is a great upgrade to the stock Creality heater cartridge and will dramatically reduce heat up times. The install is super easy, simply remove your stock fan shroud to access the stock heater cartridge. Loosen the grub screw holding it in place, and carefully push it out of the heater block. Be careful as there is some Kapton tape holding the thermistor wires to the heater wires. Cut this free, then remove the stock heater cartridge. I opted to install a Microfit Molex connector for modularity and ease of maintenance down the road, but you can wire it to your board directly if you are not comfortable with that.
    This will fit in all standard 6mm heater blocks including the stock Creality Ender 3, Ender 5, and Cr10 varients, E3d v6, and the Slice Mosquito or Slice Copperhead hotends.

    Thanks! i need to buy one for my Ender 5 and i did not know with one works on it. Im very new with printers. I just got a Micro swiss all metal and i did change but some how its not heating up at all. The display shows that its hot, but the hotend stil cold. So i check with a heatgun and the temp when up in the display, that means that the termistor its working so must be the heater cartridge. Thank again. I did not know with one to buy, 12v, 24v..

    I'm getting a E1 max temp error on my eneder 5. do you think replacing the heater will solve this? I also found a broken molex connector. I need to get all of those parts you used anyway so I was thinking of gettingthe new and installing it anyway.

    Just curious what the point is of a 50w cartridge on a stock ender hotend? Isn’t that just putting yourself at an unnecessary risk of melting the ptfe?

    After it reaches temp you can click cooldown before pushing the heater out.
    I use a 50w heater on a e3d v6. That thing heats much faster vs stock setup. Didn't notice any change in print quality but heats faster and let's me print at high Temps easier and maintained the temp better.
    Reminder to anyone reading this.
    You have to do the PID autotune after these mods. If not it won't maintain Temps properly.

      @@bleach_drink_me I ended up figuring out what the issue was. Klipper doesn’t tune like Marlin does and it made me think I had a problem. In practice everything is actually great

    Great vid! Can you install molex connectors regardless of heater cartridge voltage, i.e. 12v vs. 24v? I was planning on doing the same thing and was wondering if I have to get different connectors for a 24v - 50w heater cartridge.

    what are the pins called that your using and the crimper i don't see a link

    • @modified3d59
      @modified3d59  3 года назад +2

      Those are Molex Microfit 3.0 connectors. Also, I removed the link because I found an issue with those crimpers having a issue with the molex. They are meant for JST, however I was able to get them to work after a few tries. Once I find one I can fully recommend, I will edit the description! For now, I'd just recommend using the official Molex crimper for the Mircofit3.0.
