- Today in this video I go through how to breed and care for Emerald Rasboras.
Actually a danio, Emerald Rasboras were originally thought to be in the Rasbora Family.
Emerald Rasboras make great additions to nano tanks, planted tanks and peaceful community tanks.

I love these fish. They are so rad looking, the pattern is like a tiger in a sci-fi movie
Thanks, me too one of my favourites.
So many sites labeled this fish as schooling. Glad I came across this video before I ordered 50 of them
I have them in my planted community tank with pygmy cories and ember tetras. They’re very shy so I usually only see sparring males. Lately though I’ve seen babies swimming around so I’m excited that they are having babies!
I have mine with albino corydoras and ember tetras, in a heavily planted tank as well. mine do hide a good deal and seem to grow really really slow. of course I know they are micro fish but ive had them 4 months now and they barely look bigger then I bought them and have not colored up very much at all. im not sure why if thats abnormal in growth rate.
@@melissachesney7535 I’ve read that the males color up when they’re sparring and looking for the ladies! I’ve noticed that they do that in the morning. They are very small.
Theyre also on my fish bucket list.
Great video and tutorial. Thank you 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I’m pumped for this one
Yeah top job bro I was learning
Such funky looking fish man, will add it to my list of future fish.
If you are in the market i may know a guy 🤣
Haha got all the fishy hookups
I got some today for my nano tank..w cpd's, neons an cardinals..
I wish i have these kind of fish 😁😁😁. Very nice!
Thank you very much!
Those are really cool...Love the plants..
Thanks C23, I am definitely on the hype train for these little guys.
@@BlakesAquatics yessir...I just got some CPD' s and Im ready to leave the angry Africans behind! lol
@@Cichlids23 after getting these i got some cpds a couple of days later. Both are amazing.
G day blake
Gday Pleco 👍
I've decided to get 10 of these to go with my Celestichthys Choprae since they're both from Myanmar
They might interbreed fyi
54Puchie sent me Awesome video
She is a gem 👍
I like emerald rasboras. One thing to note is that they will interbreed with cpd's -celestial pearl danios. I keep most of my fish in species only tanks so I can't speak from personal experience but I've heard it many times from people in my fish clubs. These little nano fish are really a joy to own.
Are their any long term effects if they breed? I have 3 male cpd and 5 juvenile emerald tiger rasbora. Wanted more cpd but my shop cant get them anymore so got them to help keep the males from fighting.
@@jazzybooo I keep mine in species only tanks so I cannot tell you the answer based on personal experience but I have heard from other people who keep them together in my fish club with success.
This is a very cool species although shy if kept in groups of less than 4 (in my experience) also they tend to feel safer with denser planting. Oh just fyi Myanmar is pronounced _mee-an-mar_ :)
Actually it is pronounce My - an - mar.
Agree with the rest though.
Thanks
@@BlakesAquatics ...yikes apparently there are four official pronunciations? I had no idea. www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/magazinemonitor/2007/09/how_to_say_myanmar.shtml
No sweat yeah English can be a bit tricky sometimes lol thanks for checking out the channel anyways 👍
Hey Blake, I’ve bought 3 emerald rasboras.. one bigger and more colourful and the others paler and smaller, for a 20l tank. The bigger one seems to be chasing at the others once and awhile.. is this a normal behaviour or should I worry about it?
Yes quite normal. They are very active fish, nothing to be worried about
I wonder if the babies will accept shrimp baby powder. I kinda wanna try my hand at breeding these guys
I would say so
Was wondering if they could live with my female betta in her 16 gallon. See the answer in your video😃✌️ ty
Female Bettas should be kept together, it's the males you want to separate.
Don't listen to Dan, betta sororities almost always fail. But emerald rasboras could totally be kept with a single betta of either gender!
@@autumnatic I have 5 females in a very heavy planted 5 foot tank with lots of rainbow fish and tetras. Not alot of aggression but alot of plants to break line of sight. I would not want to have multiple females in a small tank.
Are these guys more hardy than CPD's? I didnt have much luck with keeping them, so Im looking for a good alternative
Yep, normally it's bad genes with CPDs, but these are far more hardy
How often do they spawn?
Daily
Do these hybridize with CPDs ?
Yes they do please dont mix them
Mine hide and never come out... so sad. I dont even know they exist or if they ever eat
Thats no good Hank.
Try putting in a betta, mine sits up front and centre and I think that helps them stay confident
I heard that unless there are enough of them to "school" with them they'll hide. I have about 15 Neon tetras in the same tank and these little guys hang out with them. They are very active.
@@BlakesAquatics i guess it just took time. Alot of time lol. 1yr later they’re flying all over the tank. Now my CPDs are the shy guys....
@@Hankxiong Mine have just started getting braver. I've had 7 of them for about a month now and I swear until like a day or two ago I wasn't sure if they were all even still around as I never saw them except for one here or there flitting about. They still hide more often than not for me, though, and I don't really have room to put anything else in that part of the water column.
I half wonder if my little green belly goby scares them or something. They are too big to be eaten by him, but they may not realize that. lol
How often do i feed them
Daily, twice daily, every 2 days. Just depends on your schedule but if you can do smaller more frequent feeds thats best
Cool vid 👍🏻 math mistake though it's 73-78° F
My bad
They like to be kept at 80-82F anyway.
