I thought a mountain-esque scape with dragon stone would be fun especially for a small band of Dwarf Emerald Rasboras and Cherry Shrimp!

It turned out so nice and it was fun to watch! I agree, a tank with a variety of fish, shrimp and snails brings so much enjoyment. 🐠 🦐 🐌 🌱
It sure does, especially while cooking and slaving over a hot stove! Lol !!
@@thesmallscape For sure!!!...but easy for me to get distracted! 🔥 🥘 🔥 lol.
I appreciate how you take the time to slave over a hot stove while taking care of others in your family, maintain your tanks and garden/plants, plus youtube, and do life! ⭐️ 🏆 ✨ Great job!!
Really nice mountain scape. Think I would burn a lot of meals though getting distracted by the tank 😳🤪
Not saying it hasn’t happened as I hang out with my little shrimpies ...
I like the mountain style, very bold in a small space. 💚💚
Joanne, you are my favorite RUclips fish person!
Awww - you are most kind!! 🤭🥹
Don't know what I liked better. How the tank turned out or that soothing smooth jazz🎷
Lol - goes for me too. But I could listen to jazz all day. 🙌
1:43, so excited to get all that duckweed out. Duckweed will never truly be gone hahaha
Lol - oh you know it!! 🤭😱😱😱
Love it the Cherry Shrimp and Mystery Snail really stands out on the black Substrate really nice scape
Thanks so much! I sure had fun ☺️
beautiful scape for some beautiful fish
Really Nice Scape very pleasing to the eye 👁 👌 😀
Very beautiful scape ,so tiny , Anubias and crypts a real winner.
Very nice rocks too..thanks
LOVE IT! 😍I have chilli rasboras in my shrimp tank with a hillstream loach and one otocinclus (the survival) 🥲.. but LOVE the chilli rasboras in my shrimp tank! .. I am aquascaping one of the tanks for our LFS and was thinking of Mountain using dragon stones .. The video is RIGHT ON TIME! 😁
Oh that turned out so nice. I always like a fish and shrimp mix in a tank and if I don't have a mystery snail, I'll have some pretty pink or blue ramshorns. I've been putting off rescaping my 3 tanks on my kitchen island bar. You just inspired me between your scape and that excellent glue accelerate, I've got ideas and sketches and stocking lists written out.
👍❤👍
Oh that’s just so fun when a plan comes together! I’m so happy to hear it. Have fun!! ☺️
Big thank you for my hello last night on the live stream . I’ve been watching the channel since the beginning and the other channel . But last night I woke up at 3am . usually I watch next day. So it was my first time ever getting the chance with the time difference to see you both live . Big 👍🇬🇧 from London England have a great day over in Chicago . 😜 . I’m always spreading the word about you both on this side of the Atlantic . It’s a shame we can’t have a permanent hub where we can all load our scape pics and vids up and all share like a primates fan gallery . We could have scape of the week vote 🤣
So fun, Jeff! Really glad you woke up then! Your brain probably heard all of us laughing in the fish universe. That sounds like a super fun idea - we’ve been giving things like that some thought so stay tuned! ☺️ 🇬🇧 🇺🇸☺️ - and one day we will visit the UK. 🙌
@@thesmallscape I will show you round I live near Big Ben I can see the tower from my living room window . 😜 pop in for tea as they say in the uk 😂👍
You did very job with the Aquascape
Nice choice of inhabitants, they look great in that scape
Hi Dave - thank you! I hope they warm up to their new home 🏡
Beautiful! Crypts and anubias are my favorites. I just bought some baby rasboras last night and I love it.
Oooh yay for baby rasboras!!
Excellent video quality.
Thank you Jason, that would be Mr Prime Time. ☺️
Oh my gosh! It's so little!!! I forgot how small a 5g is until I saw it near the faucet.
Just little bitty!! ☺️☺️
I have never tried one , but I might now 👍🏽✌🏽
I have dwarf emerald rasboras.....and I finally got neon green rasboras and chili rasboras. OMG! I love these guys. They help make the emeralds less shy...woohoo!
Jjust now posted a video about my Emerald Rasboras. Love these 💕
I also love the snail 🐌 🙂
✨☺️✨
This is so beautiful 😍😍😍
Looks terrific! Looked fine at the start but you turned that tank in to something truly wonderful. It is so tough to pull off the depth like you have in such a small space. Oh, and I keep learning the tip about needing a lot of the same type of rock to get what you are looking for. I'm slowly building up my collection of wood and stone and it can be tough getting stuff to "fit" without having way more than what will be used
What a transformation. Love ❤️ it!
I'm SO in love with this scape. This is exactly the sort of look I've been thinking about for the 14 gal cube I bought over the holidays.
happy Wednesday !
Happy Wednesday to you, sir!
Super cute 👍😁💛
Beautiful tank! The aquascape looks so peaceful.
Great job, the tank is beautiful.
Beautiful little set up ~ I love it !
☺️!
I think that this is an excellent landscape tank. Cool rock. Cool fish. Cool plants. Really great.
Very inspiring.
Absolutely stunning Joanna! And the music in the background was a perfect match, so enjoyable to watch and very inspiring aquascape🙂👍🏻
It is beautiful...you make it look so easy:) I love it!
Love it! Turned out awesome and great fish choice! Great job 🙂👍
💙💙💚💚
One of my favorite tiny fish.
And an incredibly beautiful scape!
Really, James? I can see why, so many tiny colors packed into a tiny fish!
You did a great job!
What a great transformation!!!
I loved the background music too!
I love, Love, LOVE that scape!!!!! Beautiful!!!!! I recently got some Emerald Rasboras and I can't believe how fond I am of them already. SO CUTE & COLORFUL!!
mine are super shy
never think of a 5 gal with that much in it
You do such beautiful scapes
Thank you, Mary. I luck out with some sweet hardscaping ☺️
Loved it Joanna❤️ I do enjoy the tank cleaning.. it's so satisfying to see the before and after!! I just love these little Nano tanks.. they are so fun to scape it definitely makes you feel like you created like 100 gallon aquascape 😍😍🥰
WOWl it turned out amazing 🙌 I knew it would!!
Really cool mountainscape!!
And there are words that can't describe how much I love that teeny tiny Anubius 🌿💚
I'm just waiting for the day you and George Farmer, Green Aqua and MD get together to do a collaboration🤔😎💪😆🌿🐟🌿💚
Beautiful tank, Joanna! 💛
Hi Gina - thank you! ☺️
Wow looks amazing I was never a aquascaper but I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I’m going to give it a try
That’s so great to hear! I wish you luck and have fun!
Useful tip. If you unclip the side mini sponge, there is a tab on the right side of the filter box that you can lift up and to gain access to the ceramic rings for cleaning or to change the orientation of the filter media.
Love it! The tiny anubias are sooooo cute. The crypts look awesome, too. My new favorite plant. I just recently tried them again in December after my first one died in 2020 I didn't try them again for over a year lol.
Beautiful scape!! If you had nothing to compare to I would have thought this was a very large tank. Which means awesome job. I have emerald rasboras but they stay hid in a heavy planted tank. I see very little of them.
So pretty! I always love your choice of inhabitants 🤗
Aww thank you! They are a bunch of little cuties!! ☺️☺️☺️
Love those little guys! I’ve been considering them as a school for my next 60cm! :)
That would be amazing 🤩
Looks good 👍
This is a lovely tank! I love dwarf emerald raspboras and have some in my 17g. I also have what initially were blue dwarf cardinia shrimp and now many generations in, there’s a red one!
Nice! And what a fun surprise- I bet the other shrimp marvel at him. ☺️
You know I used to think Celestial Danios were the prettiest fish, but I think this new fish is at least it's equal!
This turned out beautifully and I love the new occupants! Have you guys done any videos on keeping freshwater clams? I haven't been able to find much good information on the topic.
Amazing rescape. I love cpds as much as those dwarfs. Your cherries are nice red as well. I took out my embers because my shrimp were not liking them. I have a 40breeder planted.
Loved the dragon stone with the small pieces. I have a tank with dragon stone but need to try putting some smaller pieces in front. 😊
Ooh ya, I must say that was the most fun part. As long as you do it gently (for the crumbly kind) and have patience. Really adds a lot. ☺️
Good Morning.
Great looking tank I have a 55 with emerald rasboras and chili rasboras with cherry shrimp shown on my channel
I will need to check it out! 🤩
very pretty - rather than think mountain think valley or canyon!!! Like it....K
Love it
A pleasure to participate here.
I picked this to listen to while cleaning my own aquascape!
I’m honored, hope your tank is now nice and sparkly! ✨☺️✨
@@thesmallscape Very sparkly, thank you! Yours is so lovely. I’m in Brisbane Australia. It’s getting very warm so the heaters are coming out for the summer. I’m drooling over your emerald rasboras. Very hard to come by here and when you do find them, they’re often $25-30.
I love it! I really like the overall appearance of your tank's structure too. I don't think I've ever seen one like that before. I agree with you about Flip Aquatics. Not only do they have very nice selections but their customer service is awesome (Yay Tyler!!) OK now I'm gonna go make some changes to my shrimp tank, lol its looking a little boring. Thank you 😊
Thank you, Tina! I’m so glad and yes, they are super great there! Good luck sprucing up your tank! Fun fun fun!
I have to say, I also really like the micro Anubis 👍👍 going to have to have some of that for myself.. as always love your videos and thanks for sharing ✌️
Love me some teensie Anubias!!
@@thesmallscape 👍👍
Finally, the Emerald Dwarf Rasbora!! I Love mine! I have a Topfin 5.5 tank w/almost all the same inhabitants w/the inclusion of a neon Gobi and Betta fish.
Yaasssssss!!!! Finally! I’m now part of the exclusive club - I just love the idea of having a gobi of my very own someday. Swoooon!
I never tried shrimp I just got back into the hobby. Are shrimp difficult to keep in an aquarium? You two do a nice job explaining the hobby.
Thank you so much - I really feel that neocaridina are pretty user friendly even for beginners. ☺️ Flip Aquatics shares really good advice with them. ☺️☺️☺️
I love dwarf emerald rasboras. I have a 20 long that has those, celestial pearl danios, chili rasboras, and some orange rilli shrimp. Honestly, I think they are a good fish to have with shrimp because their mouths are so small. They may eat a baby or 2, but they won't do a lot of damage.
Ooh - sounds like a fun tank to watch!
@@thesmallscape it is. Just like your 5 gallon mountain tank I need to redo it. Everything has gotten a little over grown. The fish love it though.
Love it!
Given me some ideas on what to do with my 8gal desk tank; I've been so stuck on what to do with it since my Betta passed months ago :(
I’m sorry to hear that, Beth. It can be really nice have a fresh start with a new scape. ☺️
Interedting to see your dwarf rasboras are right out in the open.
Mine hide most of the time.
They do have their moments hiding behind the mountain.... 😊
Have an idea for you. Have you ever thought of making the Lego Aquarium? Includes fish, bonsai tree, etc in it. I bet you would make a great video with it.
Might be an interesting challenge... 😏
Always enjoy your videos! I am new to fishkeeping, started in sept of this year. I have a 10g main tank and a 5g quarantine tank. What do you do to maintain the nitrogen cycle in your 5g tank when there is no inhabitants?
Awesome fish wish they sold those at the local fish store.
Total inspiration ! You got me into grabbing a 5.5 gallon for my first nano. Side note---> been working on my channel for many months now. Inspiration goes a long away. Premiered my 1st episode this morning. If you have time to check it/or feedback on it sometime would love that! My pond episode still in the works, and with weather changing won't be ready to post until next season. But I do credit your channel in that vid. cause you totally helped me out with the algae issue I was having thanks to your your pond set up video. Still working on improving my aquascapes. As always great video J.
i was gifted this tank by the fish store i work at today and ive been curious about dwarf emerald rasboras and if theyd work in it, thanks for the great video Joanna!
Congrats to you!!! ☺️
@@thesmallscape thank you!! i was concerned with the flow at first, but since the hardscape and plants have been added it wasnt too bad seemingly!
This is a very underrated fish. People tend to gravitate to cpds.
Yes exactly - and I think they would look super cool together. ☺️
@@thesmallscape they sure do and throw in some ember, green tetras, chili rasboras.......super fun tank!
I liked your video very much. Thanks Joanna! I wish the fish were in focus in the video, but oh well. I loved all the new rock and the micro anubias. What substrate did you use?
Ya, sorry about that. ☺️ Top fin black sand.
🙂 Looks great Joanna!! ♥️
...I haven't kept Mystery snails before (only Nerites), but I've heard that any snail can sneak out without a lid... Have you ever had escapees? 🐌
Hi! Admirable concern. ☺️ That’s why the water level is lowered.
No occupants in the “Kitchen tank?” 😱
Please tell me they were not the “Fish Course !”
Thinking of becoming a “Vegetarian Primate,”
Jim
Ahaha! What a tiny little pan that would b! Ok, vege-mate it is! 🤣
Very pretty scape! Is it difficult to keep shrimp alive in a tank of that size? I have my eye on a three gallon shrimp tank, but I'm concerned that it may be too small for cherry shrimp.
Is the tank doing well? I’m thinking about doing a 5 gallon with the same inhabitants :) I love the dwarf emerald rasbora they are SO cute! And the shrimpies. Did you do 6 rasbora and 6 shrimp?
I plan on buying a lot of plants on Flip aquatics. I only figured them out because of you guys. What's the substrate that you used. It looks like it is very easy to put plants in with tweezers.
Nice group of folks over there and a great selection! This would be top fun black sand from Petsmart - quite easy to plant in ☺️
@@thesmallscape ok
Is it necessary to quarantine if they are the first inhabitants being introduced into a planted tank?
Beautiful scape. The design gives such depth and makes the tank look larger than it really is.
I have a kitchen tank for my snails Jerry and Shelly and some male albino blue topaz guppies.
It is my most simple tank, no live plants because Jerry eats them, but I love it anyway.
What a little stinker eating your plants 🌱. I love simple little tanks that bring happiness. ☺️☺️☺️
can they handle the flow of the aquatop or better putting a sponge on it ?
I like it but I'm concerned about the water volume after displacement by those big rocks, what's the actual amount of water in there after? 😥
How do you add shrimp to a newly built tank? Thank you.
Just curious are you still using the "garden" stone bought at lowes from a few months ago? You must still have a lot leftover?
Yes! Still using some, ran out of some since we bought different kinds and we had some large tanks to scape. So much fun having a selection though!
🦋❣🦋Very pretty 🦋❣🦋
I really like your aquascape and your choice of fish and inverts for the small aquarium. I did wonder about the mystery snail, though. If it is female, are you going to get infested with snails in the near future? I'm having this problem now. Some kind of small snail got accidentally introduced into my 29 gallon aquarium; probably from eggs on a plant. They multiply like crazy, and I am manually removing 5-15 a day to keep it under control. Not fun.
Duckweed more like yuckweed, amirite?
I really like the dwarf emerald rasboras
Ahahaaa!!!! Oh goodness, Joe!! That’s the funniest thing ever!!
Lol
I have a kitchen tank too
Yay for kitchen tanks! ☺️
you think ph around 6.5 to soft for them in a 15 flex
Update on this tank?
Supes cool! And I will be stealing your composition (;
Oh, thank you - what a nice thing to say! Steal away!!
If you could only have one tank size ?
Great question! I have 10s, 20s, and 30s right now. If I could only have one? I'd have to go with 30g. It's the size where I really started to see the potential for layering larger groups of smaller schooling fish (bottom, middle and top dwellers). And, having added a betta to one of my 30g tanks, and seeing him do great there, I know I could choose the 30g size and still get to keep my beloved bettas!
I think the new rocks are TOO big for that tiny tank IMO :(
I agree. I was so happy when I broke that tank down a few months ago! 😂
Watching late last therapy session today got sprung by the doctor yesterday. Blonde speeding down the road gets pulled over by a blonde officer the officer says can I see your license please. Blonde driver looking through her purses can you describe it? Officer says it’s a little square thing with your picture on it. Driver pulls out a square compact and hands it to the blonde police officer, officer says oh I didn’t know you were police officer and let her go after looking in the compact.
That's just copy scaping! Lovely fish, snail & shrimp though.
