FINALLY! A tutorial that goes beyond the first row. So glad I found your helpful video. Please keep producing detailed content like this! It’s very helpful! 😊
thank you so much!!! have tried three or four other videos and haven’t gotten the hang of it until this one!! so cool that even though this was posted 7 years ago it’s still more than helpful
Your awesome man! I’ve been trying to knit a scarf with this stitch for my girlfriend because she loves to knit and this has really helped! Thanks a bunch, you are good dude in my book.
At first i cannot understand the knots. But i traced the beginning procedure, little by little i can follow and your teaching is very interesting and i can now follow more. Thank you 🙏😊
Thank you so much for explaining how to do this!i was very confusing at first and i had to slow it down to see what and how you were doing it, but it then made more sense after failing a few times but overall helped A LOT-. So thank you so much for doing a video like this or i would be very lost since I would ask my great grandma but she's lives 10 - 9 hours away, and i wanted to make her something that was more advanced than what she taught me, though i would always remember and treasure those memories and skill, and this video is gonna make more happy memories with her :D SHOUT OUT TO MY GREAT GRANDMA FOR KNITTING BABY SWEATERS TO THOSE BABYS IN NEED-
Omg thanku so much. You have no idea how many different videos I watched trying to get this. Funny thing is that I’m left handed and not even the left handed tutorials made it click for me, but you did! 😂☺️
I know this video's a bit old, but thank you so much for making it! It's very well explained and definitely helped me a ton. I hope you're having a nice day! :>
I am fixing to start this project this week. I just taught myself to knit this week. So far I like your video. Easy to see your work and your close up angle is perfect.
i'm just screaming and crying Out of every art stuff knitting is the only one impossible for me to learn. I can even do embroidery, but this? I'm trying to learn this for 15 years now and it's still impossible. I'm giving up.
me: **cries is confusion** (fr tho i'm picking this up bc i think it's cool and bc i think it'll help with my adhd an stuff, but i didn't account for how my adhd would make it harder to learn 😫)
Zuley Ruley my adhd could be best described as severe. I was taught how to knit at 5 maybe? Didn’t have the patience for it. Can’t believe my mother even bothered since half the time she’d look up and I’d be missing. She’d find me, bring me back lol. Once I didn’t “have to” do it I stopped. I’d come back to it here and there over the years. It’s been 15 years since my last project (which went poorly) and I’m two rows away from finished with my latest project. One I didn’t even use a pattern for. So hang in there. Just keep watching the videos even if you don’t pick up your needles, get the basic idea in your head. Eventually something will click and it makes the rest sooo much easier!
adhd as well, i can also back this up. once you get over the hurdle of learning the basics, it gets a lot easier. im knitting my first scarf (just knit stitch though :')) and im a good bit of the ways through. keep going! and once you get the hang of it you can listen to stuff in the background or watch tv to keep your attention.
So, if we want it not to only be one sided how do we do it? Like one side is nice but the other side shows the lines from you blending colors, is there a reversible stitch?
So basically, a knit stitch is about an individual stitch. The garter stitch is about doing knits for every row. The stockinette stitch includes the knit stitch but it also has purls, making it different from the garter stitch.
If your stitches slip off while you are pulling the yarn through, I think I can help you. I find that if I keep the yarn really tight, the stitches won't slip off.
Very good tutorial! Thanks!👍🙂 ❓❓❓ Question.... I learned how to knit this way a few days ago so I can make a chunky potholder. I'm confused about the name of the stitch. Is it called a "knit stitch" or a "garter stitch"?❓ I love that it produces that squiggly stitch pattern on both sides. That's very cool. I think after I finish my pot holder knitting project, I'll go back to crocheting. It's much easier. LOL!
Great demo and explanation. Love the soft minimalist aesthetic, but it doesn't quite work for a tutorial where the yarn blends in with the perfectly color-matching background surface. I know this is free content, so feel free to ignore my suggestion.
someone please help me!!!!! im getting so lost on the part where you put the thread down between the needles and then you work the needle through the loop. i cant tell what loop im supposed to work it through or how, i just keep undoing all my stiches on the first needle
ruclips.net/video/fzJyuPt1JuA/видео.html you don't have to catch the yarn if you don't want to. Just stick the crochet hook into 2 stiches and pull it through (she explains it better)
If a pattern starts by saying “cast on 190 st back and forth on circular needles, then work 10 rows of garter stitch” does that mean doing 10 rows of knit stitches (for all 190 stitches)?
It's actually a little different for circular needles when knitting in the round specifically. When you work in rounds, you're never turning the work; you're always looking at the same side. So to get the garter stitch look in the round, you'll knit one round and purl the next (and continue with that repeat). However, if you're using circular needles but not knitting in the round (flipping the work after each row), it'll be the same 👍
Everytime I knit a new row, a new loop gets added at the end hence I’m unable to make a square piece as each new row is slightly longer. Where am I going wrong ??
@@-savana-27 yeah, ur just supposed to slip the first loop of every row into the next needle without knitting it in. So like how we start off knitting the second row but slipping the first loop directly into the next needle, similarly Youre supposed to repeat that step for every first loop of every row. U get me?
I’m brand new to knitting...I know how to do this garter stitch and that’s it so far. I’ve been watching other RUclips videos, and I’m confused because they say that “purl” stitches (on the left needle) have the horizontal yarn bump while knit stitches don’t have the yarn bump and look like a “v”. This garter stitch (while on the left needle) all have the bump which looks like a ‘purl’ stitch....yet I’m not purling. I’m so confused! Can someone explain to a very new and easily confused knitter? 🙏🏻
You go nice and slow I think I could cast on better now yours is the best video for that cast on is the hardest for me I’m a new knitter but not to crochet. Yes what is the difference between the knit Stitch and garter my knit circle has started me on a dishcloth shawl so I cast on three st 3rd st yo for increase knit to end they picked out dar yarn on kinda small metal circular needles pretty tough for an absolute beginner 😐
This really wasn't great. I'm just beginning and it doesn't show the back where you're supposed to have the needle when you push it in "knitting wise"... It's slow but doesn't show a good perspective
What? So a garter stitch is just a knit stitch? Why are there two different names? Why not just say in the pattern "knit the first five rows" or whatever.
The garter stitch is just using the knit stitch over and over. There are other stitches such as stockinette where you’d knit one row and purl the next.
Stitch 1 for my harry J.W Cardigan.
I’m just starting mine and the plan is so confusing. I hope I can do it, I’m excited!

Is the knit stitch the same as the garter stitch? What's the difference? Or it's the same just different names? I'm a beginner
Ilda Limon yes its the same xoxo,💖💕💓💞

I find that your left thumb is often in the way of a stitch. However, I finally understand the long tail cast on. Ty for the video.
Very helpful, but how do I finish? Do I just slide it off and leave it?
Your stitching is AMAZING 😍 but... Do you have any things for 10 year olds because my daughter tried and couldn't do it.

What kind of yarn is this??
What kind of yarn or fiber are you using? cheers.
If I want to knit a thicker blanket do I need bigger needle? Thank you
Use thicker bulky yarn
After I finish knitting a square how do I finish it or close it up?
Use a bind off. My personal favorite is using a crochet hook to bind off

What yarn did you use
