You are definitely my favorite knitting teacher!
    - Clear, straight explanation
    - Bright lighting
    - Great choice of colors
    And last but not least
    - No polished nails!
I can get so distracted by shiny dancing polished finger nails 😄

This was so informative, and I've saved it as a reference for future projects. Had to laugh though. I was knitting a scrubbie (stocking stuffer) while I watched, and I realized that I had switched to purl stitches without knowing. Now I want to try a scrubbie in stockinette stitch just for fun. I have resorted to slipping the last stitch of each row and knitting the first stitch of the next row through the back loop with the yarn held in front. It has given me significantly better edging over the last couple of years, and it's easy to remember. But it was sure nice to find out WHY I was having so much trouble with the edges. Have always envied people whose knitting was even all over with perfect edges.

After watching about a dozen videos on knitting straight and tidy edges, and trying out more than half of them, my edges were still wavy and twisty, plus I was getting more confused and frustrated 😖 After watching this video three times, I finally got a straight and pretty edge on the first try. You also helped me with saving dropped stitches. Before that, I was unravelling rows of work, just to pick up my dropped stitches 🤦🏻‍♀️You're a godsend to nervous newbie knitters like me.

Here is how I keep neat edges: In the last 3 or 4 stitches of the current row I begin to tighten up on tension. Then while maintaining the tighter tension, I turn the work and work the first 3 or 4 stitches of new row using the tighter tension. That's it. The knitting will relax itself and even itself out. 🤓

This is a wonderful video, not only for the edging information, but you also reveal which edging is best for picking up stitches. I've never found this tip in any other knitting tutorial even though I've searched in vain and had much difficulty sometimes with neat pick ups. 👍

Thank you, I have been knitting for many years and too-tight selvages have been the bane of my garments. I have in fact just finished one, intended for me, where the fabric gauge is fine but the edges are too tight. That has prompted me to find out (finally!) what I can correct to fix this issue - and your video has helped me do just that. I was slipping every first stitch, but knitwise, not purlwise, and knitting every last stitch, and pulling both way too tight. Must be left over from learning on slippery plastic needles which I remember vividly! (I was six, and the needles were red.)
I have also learned that there are many other ways to edge a piece for different purposes, and thank you, I will be using some of these from now on! Many thanks for such a clear, informative and useful video :) I am delighted to have found you, you have a new subscriber!

I love how detailed you are. Thank you for your instruction. I am a better note because if you ❤
I’m having a problem with my top down sweater neckline due to the k1r and k1L to increase for the arm. It is so messy and holy

You are a genius!!!! Your videos have been the absolute best! The most informative and the way you approach topics make things so easy to understand. I would classify myself as a beginner. When following a knitting pattern I had no idea making a few little changes like this would turn, someone else’s, pattern into something so much better!
I absolutely love doing cables and I want to make a sweater so I’ve been trying to find a pattern or even figure out one for myself (I would love to do this, I think I’ve got quite a way to go before this). Ive been making so many swatches watching your videos learning new techniques and improving on what I’ve already known. I’m getting a little closer for each swatch! Thank you for all of your time and the knowledge you are sharing!!! TY!!

awesome. Do keep in mind that cables restrict the stretchiness of a fabric, so definitely factor that in. Ravelry can be ag reat place to find sweater pattern wit cables.

My favorite bind-off is putting the yarn in front before the last two (or even three) stitches, then slip those stitches. Then knit the next row as usual.

wow ! So many options, I particuarly appreciated the trick for stretchy edges for lace shawl knitting, since I often find a restriction at the blocking just on the edges. Thanks !

yeah...that can be a bummer. Though it's also very easy to forget, lol. I typically place a stitch marker there so I absolutely cannot forget stretching those stitches.
