THANK YOU! I've been trying to learn to knit since before christmas so I can make a sweater for my mom but have been too scared but this was an amazing tutorial. Thank you for being clear and concise and showing both the long tail cast on and how to start knitting a swatch. ❤
Thank you for not add the music while teaching the method of knitting, I don’t know why some people add music though tutorials 🙄these things need to focus on and playing music will make it unclear
this is the best beginner knitting tutorial i have found! all the other ones have me scratching my head, but you make it so easy for me. love the cast on technique too!
I’ve watched a few videos on knitting for beginners and you are the first one who actually explained it in a way for a complete beginner to understand. I finally got the hang of it from just watching your video once. Thank you!!
Awesome tutorial. I'm an avid crocheter I had the basic for knitting many years ago but I needed a refresher and I'm soo impress with this instruction so simple and easy to follow ❤
I am so glad you posted a tutorial! I have been so curious how you knit because you’re also a crocheter. I was taught how to knit very differently and it is SO inefficient especially when doing any kind of ribbing. I see knitting as necessary evil to get the type of fabric that I want for certain projects but I would rather crochet if I can. Two rows in and I’m already matching my old speed. This is going to be a game changer! Maybe I’ll actually start to like knitting more.
This is THE BEST tutorial! My hands kept getting twisted & tightened weird. As a crocheter your explanation was so simple instead of going round, though, behind…blah blah blah. This was soo much better & helped me enjoy the process! Thank you thank you!
Loved you explaining the crochet background. I’m the same way so when people were saying continental I was so confused! Thanks for sharing your knowledge ❤
YASSSSS!!! Tysm Kelsie! I’ve been so exited for this tutorial - ever since I started crochet I’ve wanted to try knitting but the tutorials I watched were really bad. I saw this just now and instantly liked before I even watched the video 😂 Anyway, off to grab the knitting needles I bought months ago and make me a sweater ❤
It’s not that I’ve been putting off learning how to knit… I’ve just been putting others things first. But now that I’m here watching you teach me how to knit, I’m ready to learn. 😊
I've always wanted to learn how to knit since I've learnt how to crochet so I bought the things I needed but each time I start watching a tutorial I get bored and yh since last year I just left my knitting pin and I decided to watch this and I was obviously not disappointed cuz I now know the basic steps in knitting. Thank you Kelsie
Thank you so much for putting out this tutorial! By far the easiest for me to follow along! After watching and knitting along I'm making my first project already! It's only a wash cloth but hey, it's a start!
Kelsie thank you for such an awesome tutorial ❤️❤️ I'm a huge fan of all your crochet content and I'm so excited that I'm learning a new skill ❤️❤️ if we're allowed to make requests please can we have a few more knitting tutorials? Different stitches or tips and tricks or maybe a headband/earwarmer tutorial, please and thank you 🙏❤️❤️
Wow! Good job, girl! I’ve watched tons of videos to try knitting. Yours makes me feel confident I can do it! I look forward to future knit videos! Thank you!!❤🎉
I've been a crochet girlie for about a year now and after watching your tut I want to knit so bad lol, going to go get some knitting needles today! Edit:got some needles! trying it now, its definitely harder then crocheting!
I'm watching and listening. Your instruction is wonderful. I am going out to buy yarn and needle and will try it. If I get it I will probably join your group. Thank you
My mum taught me to knit with the thumb cast on and with the UK knitting style. Very grateful for that .- I was curious about this way but it will take a few watches to get it to sink in😂 I do prefer US crochet terms though.
I have also heard this cast-on called the "fishtail" cast on! I didn't know you could measure how long the tail needs to be, so efficiently! That is going to be such a lifesaver for me! 😅
I'm a super huge fan of yours and I watch every vlog, but I immediately skipped when I saw this. It's my worst nightmare. My crocheting brain can't handle this😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
I use both the needles together to do my first cast on row. Then row 2 i separate the needles. The reason being is that it is hard to get the 2nd row started because the yarn tightens on that very first row.
who's also a crocheter here trying to learn? 🤣
Me
Me
me! It's honestly easier than i thought when i go slow.
Me.. but I don’t think my left hand will cooperate 🥴
me
The easiest and the most understandable tutorial so far about knitting❤❤❤❤
I disagree
I'm a crocheter who's been trying to learn how to knit and your video is the first one that's made sense to me! Thank you so much!!
I watched 4 and hers was the first that made sense!
THANK YOU! I've been trying to learn to knit since before christmas so I can make a sweater for my mom but have been too scared but this was an amazing tutorial. Thank you for being clear and concise and showing both the long tail cast on and how to start knitting a swatch. ❤
Ive tried knitting before, it never stuck in my brain. I’m so excited you did this, you’re an amazing teacher ❤ I know I’ll get it this time! 😊
Every time you ask “ok?” In your videos, I always respond “yes” or “ok” like if you can hear me 😂😂
My left side of my brain 🧠 is saying NO WAY... but the right side of my brain 🧠 is saying you got this...😂
You totally got this
My entire brain is doubtful. Lol
Lol right
Knitting feels like you need more than two hands to do😂😂
well the right is right
Thank you for not add the music while teaching the method of knitting, I don’t know why some people add music though tutorials 🙄these things need to focus on and playing music will make it unclear
❤😂
Agree!
God bless you. I finally know how to knit. You don't know how happy i am. You gained a new subscriber and you deserve it.😊
knitting is so hard for my crochet brain 😅
What you teach is very slow and clear!!! Thank you very much 😘😘😘
this is the best beginner knitting tutorial i have found! all the other ones have me scratching my head, but you make it so easy for me. love the cast on technique too!
Omg finally after painful months of trying, My 1mm x 2mm pea brain finally undrstands how this works. Thank you!

Good luck you'll become a pro 😄💗

Omg soo easy tx for teaching ppl say that knitting is for grandmas only but I disagree bc i think knitting can be for anyone ❤
The knitting world is so cool.
Omg you're too good at explaining. I got my life's first cast on right in a go ❤🎉

You did such a great job teaching. Thanks so much!!! It will help so many. Hope you’re having a great day.❤
Thank you! You too!
Excellent tutorial!! Much appreciated.
Thank you so much for this vid. However you just so happened to post this a day after I learned how to knit 😭 😅😂

I've been a crochet girlie for about a year now and after watching your tut I want to knit so bad lol, going to go get some knitting needles today! Edit:got some needles! trying it now, its definitely harder then crocheting!

Definitely a great tutorial
Yay after waiting for your video for many days ❤
Best knitting tutorial ever! Love this but i need practice in the mean time i need to go beck to crochet to make a sone a baby blanket.
My mum taught me to knit with the thumb cast on and with the UK knitting style. Very grateful for that .-

Thank you!
I'm a super huge fan of yours and I watch every vlog, but I immediately skipped when I saw this. It's my worst nightmare. My crocheting brain can't handle this😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow thank you. I tried and learned with chopsticks. I think ive learned as a little kid years ago one summer so it's nostalgic. :)
Yeah I'm not doing this for a while aha.. so frustrating! I hope one day I'll get it
Looks so satisfying to do! Now I’m gonna follow your knit beanie tutorial 😊
I only have needles in a round that I just got
TYSM!!!!! i have been trying to find a video that would actually help! so thanks!!!!💖💖💖
Fantastic tutorial! Thanks girl for making this ❤
I use both the needles together to do my first cast on row. Then row 2 i separate the needles. The reason being is that it is hard to get the 2nd row started because the yarn tightens on that very first row.
I've been waiting for this tutorial!
Ur voice is so calming
Would you ever consider reversing your video and posting one for leftys? Love your vlogs!!!! 💕🧶💕🧶
I did it in just one day such a good tutorial thanks 🎉❤
Thank you literally SO much omg
I’m trying to knit with crochet hooks because I crochet and I don’t have any needles😂😭😭😭
Could you do a left handed tutorial as well? ❤
It's seems I have a hard time on this style coz I'm a crocheter but this needle I will use is my first time 😁
great tutorial, thank you!!
If you are left handed does the project go in your right hand; while the needle without anything go in your left hand?
Thank you for the tutorial ❤ would it be different stitch if instead of clockwise, wrap the yarn inversely??
It would still be a knit stitch it would just be facing the opposite way and it may cause twisted stitches
I finally got it!
I’ve been wanting to learn how to knit, so I guess here’s my time to actually do it 😂
Thank you Kelsie for an excellent tutorial. Love your channel!!
Love the video, but quick question, does it matter if the yarn is wrapped clockwise or counterclockwise? Just wondering.
Yes it does matter, it changes the direction that your stitch faces and then you can end up with twisted stitches
Thanks I'm still kind of stuck but this was helpful 😅
This was so fun❤❤
Thanku sooo muchhhh 💐
II have been going from the right side of the stitch since I picked up my needles after a long hiatus. 😂🤷🏽♀️
Thank you so much ❤
Always wanted to learn how to knit but it always seemed too hard for me but you made this so much more understandable tysm 🩷
so if i want to make a queen sized blanket would i have to wrap the yarn 200 times to cast on?
I love 💕 it so much
Thank you so much!!!
I'm very good at crocheting, I prefer crocheting to knitting
12:22 start making rows
23:22 start casting off
I am always Trying to get the yarn like a crochet
Thank you 👍🏾😊
Can we use a chopstick I mean they're like them and it doesn't really matter the size I mean why doesn't matter
I’m using chopsticks
20:51 and im still trying to knit 🧶😮😢😔🩹😶🌋😭
That's true if it says it on the needles then you can never have to take a sharpie and write it on. Sharpie wipes away on some surfaces
So how many stitches would you ideally need to make a blanket that is about 42 inches wide?
Depends, make a gauge swatch and measure it
