Such a great post on your work with Steve, Lee! I got to know Steve fairly well in the late 80's... co-promoted Hearts on Fire '87, festival in Knoxville where Steve headlined. Vision, the CCM band that included Gary Rossington, Billy Powell, and Dale Krantz (Gary's wife)... right before the Skynyrd reunion tour, played as well. Amazing work, Lee. Thank you so very much for highlighting this seminal CCM album from Steve. It changed my life.

My favorite song on this Steve Camp album is called HE COVERS ME. It was one of the singles on the radio. I could listen to the intro on a loop for hours. Leland and Jeff Porcaro are playing at an anointed level of musicianship!! The bass playing and drumming throughout the song is in the category of beautiful! Leland’s bass tone and his choice of bass arrangement are just awesome! Jeff Porcaro’s tom work and his cymbal pushes are mind blowing! Bill Schnee’s mix of this entire album is beyond amazing!

😄😄 What a great car story! My Dad was a professional mechanic with some good anecdotes about what went through the shop (big rigs) but nothing like that! He passed with all of his stuff in place and I'm proud that he didn't have to worry about that. If it pleases you to streamline and organize (these videos themselves are a huge legacy that some institution or writer(s) will no doubt work with), that's great. But you shouldn't have to sweat it if you don't feel like it. One thing's for sure, I imagine there might be other hot rod experts out there, but you're on the top shelf re: people wanted for bass and pop music history events....

Dann Huff is the lead over Michael Landau?! Those were some tasty licks!
I saw the Sons of Champlin at the Golden Bear back in 1975 - Split Enz were their opening act on their first US tour! I didn't see Bill again until 2018 at The Rose with California Transit Authority (Jason Scheff & Robby Krieger made surprise appearances) and then early in 2019 with his group Wunderground at The Belly Up!
I was sad to see that Jon Clarke had passed from Kidney cancer back in 2005. He had such a great career, from Loggins & Messina to the Kenny Loggins Band for that core groups first five or so albums; then on to session and film work! Lucky to have seen him playing live!

Some classic 1986 guitar sounds. My dad had a Steve Camp LP from a few years before that. He's a pastor somewhere now and yes, the last time I heard about him he was arguing a point of theology with someone via social media/podcast. He was very big in CCM in the 80s. He co-wrote the CCM equivalent of Live Aid's record, "Do something now".

I'm a Steve Camp fan since way back in the late 80's, and always read the credits - definitely remember seeing your name pop up on various albums by different artists. I have One on One on cassette (never managed to upgrade to CD on that one). Justice from 1988 is I think my fav by Steve - and I remember seeing you play on that one too if memory serves. I always wondered about the people behind the names... a pleasure to find you here. All the best - Stephen

The thing I love the most is how you truly, honestly and humbly honor the musicians you have worked with, and the artists with whom you have performed. I knew you were a phenomenal player years ago, but I kinda think it is the talent plus the attitude that makes a way for people. Everyone who has had you along on projects or live has been tremendously blessed. Thank you for these videos. They are an inspiration for many, as well as a living history of modern music.

I was a hot rod fan back in the day, read things like Hot Rod magazine, and was a fan of NHRA Top Fuel drag racing. (I note to my delight that former Top Fuel champ "Big Daddy" Don Garlits is still involved. He has a garage in FL, and is trying to set the world speed record for an _electric _dragster.) Agreed, though, you haven't time to properly deal with it, so find a home for it with someone who can give it the attention it deserves.
