Just this version is 20 years already, and the franchise will be 30 years in 2026. Lots of these classic fgs are very old now. Tekken turned 30 this year too.
Yeah, Soul Calibur is pretty much dead now. Since one of the big developers of SC left Namco. At least they could do a collection of SC 1,2 and 3 for the 30th anniversary
@@Shiratto not only rare but shitty as well. The best we can hope for is for the community to push development further and release these games on fightcade with rollback netcode. No need for shitty ass ports of these corporations.
@@Shiratto I noticed that Capcom and SNK love to rerelease classic games pretty much in every new system since the ps2, but 3d fg companies normally are not very interested. The only one that i remember is SC2 hd.
Soul still burns.... hopeful of the future of Soul Calibur. Was a highly played game with my family throughout the years. Countless nights running games back to back and just enjoying all the content.
SC2 was unique for me back then, Mostly me (Astaroth) and my little brother (Nightmare) played together on Cathedral with infinite rounds. Unrelated though: As a Yoshi main, one thing they should have kept in SC6 from his SC5, was Indian Stance Parry (Extermination). That time Aris won against Signia in a mirror match with a backturned parry from it and Aris just jumped up and helldived back at Signia. Would love to see this Indian Stance parry move in Tekken as well.
SC was truly unique for the time. From what i've seen, that aspect can become a problem for some franchises... like they are the right innovations that came at the right time and get big, but it looks like people eventually "get tired" of it because there is nothing innovative to provide anymore, and it all started about its innovations.
Bandai Namco would be swimming in money if they released all their old fighting games on current gen but for some reason opt not to. Soul calibur 6 and tekken 7 both had awful online but one thrived while the other was shelved
Spending so much time mastering PORC and Summon Suffering buffers on the Dreamcast just to use them in my local Namco arcade. God, I love this fucking game. Top of my list every time. My soul still burns.
Though i noticed that 3d fg companies dont like classic rereleases, remasters, etc, compared to 2d fg companies. Yeah that doesnt happen in SC, but neither in TK, VF and DOA. I dont understand why.
I love how smooth is sc 2 gameplay.. the game feels so lose compared to sc 3..4..5.... sc 2 is faster and more responsive...Sc 6 feels very smooth too also one of my favorites....so when people who prefer sc3 , 4 and 5 say that sc 2 is overrated well not really .. because the game just feels better.., yes the later games may have better roster and graphics but the gameplay is not as good as sc2
This was such a special game. Between this game and six I still prefer two, but six came the closest to feeling like this game. Although I never got a chance to try SC3AE, I would love an HD online rerelease of that in the future now that Namco has some experience with rollback.
It's good to hear people like sc6. I think this game is a bit better, but like you said, sc6 is the closest to sc2 that we're gonna get for now. I just wish it didn't go out the way it did.
I love 6 and 2 pretty much equally, but I'm mega biased because 6 was the first fighting game I ever took the time to actually learn. Even with that bias 2 is such a special game though and I really wish we'd get more games like that
For real. I love SC6, but games like SC2 just don't exist, even back then. It's a game that's so easy to pick up, and yet has a lot of depth and neat quirks to it. Similar to what Aris said in the stream, the game is like learning how to ride a bike. You can come back to SC2 after years and years and still remember how to play it. That and the system mechanics are just so cool to me. It's really funny seeing SC2 in a world of games with crazy long combos and very powerful universal mechanics. It's like a relic but in the best way possible
@@twistedgambit9084 It's when someone does a move you've never seen before especially in older games. Yuh just say the guy is "making moves up". Or you can say the same with bizarre characters you can't understand like Valdo for example his moves all look made up
The market was warmed up to innovation and overall it was favorable to fgs, that was a big motivation. Like people say the fg scene is good now, but that's only in the financial side of the games... and that is only achieved by ripping off the passionate and supportive community more at every new sequel with dlc and stuff. But in the 90s and early 00s the game culture really helped the fg genre to grow... not every genre grew in that same pace.
Tekken and Soul Calibur collections with Ong Bak Rollback would sell like hotcakes, but Bamco won't ever release a compilation of them. Best we got was Tekken Tag 1 port on PS3 with issues and no netplay.
@@TonguelessDanny I think the reason why people make a case about that is because in this same genre, Capcom rerelease old stuff all the time. So there are close examples to see.
