Hi , I own a 1994 W202 C180 automatic with 122HP gas engine, i had real problem with idle. The car was stalling all the time cold start or warm start, whatever. With the automatic gearbox i had to keep my foot on the gas pedal all the time So i looked around and found this video. It s a little bit different as the c230 but the main process remain the same. As we can not easily get Seafoam products here in France i could not clean the whole lot, but i removed the throttle body and clean it thouroughly with a cloth slightly wet , a paint brush and some soap. I managed to get out all the dirt. It was not much but apparently was enought to prevent the throttle to move and close normally. Since then it does not stall anymore. Thanks a lot really I saved a whole bunch of € ...

I am now in the process of getting a different throttle body, a ovp, and a purge valve. Found a guy with a 96 c280 sport that got t-boned. His was running and passed all emissions. Thanks bud.
You're pretty close to having a complete W202 video service manual here soon :-D But joke aside - this is yet another useful and enjoyable video of yours. Keep up the good work!
Very helpful, thank you. I especially liked how the video was implemented, it is very easy to follow and understand compared to other videos I've seen here on RUclips.
Throttle body removed and this is what i have found. The wiring inside of the tb looks great, the rubber boot that connects the tb to the crossover tube fell apart. Of the 2 end covers only one has been removed seeing I have not removed the clutch assembly of the butterfly baffle. With that said. The little circut board inside the tb had old black flux, goop all over it. I did a little cleaning to clear up all the posabilities of false readings(arc over/tracking). Will post again. Thanks
The clips that you struggle with at around 2:55 do not need removing like that. They are hinge pins; the whole clip simply swivels up (on your model) with a slight tug or flick with a screwdriver as you did at 3:48, staying attached by the pins. The connector can then be pulled free. Much less risk of breaking the fragile clip this way too. Hope this helps! A good video though - helped me with my w208 although that's quite different. Thank you.
Maurice J'Four .. You are correct.. I had removed a few at the wrecking yard before, and when the clip popped up, the pins broke, so I figured this way was safer... prob. someone had broken the other clips prior to me taking them off and now I'm paranoid about breaking them :)
Now the potentionmeter of the throttle side is a differnt story. I was only able to crack the housing open for now. I shot some maf cleaner to it. Finding the 2 wires that feed the pot side took some ohmn readings. It varied greatly. Only when I flipped it wide open and let it spap closed I would get a reading. Say 2.9 ohmn closed to 32.3 wide open. And this was sparactic. Any thoughts? Thanks again.
Did some throttle cleaning myself today, dumped a near entire can of sea foam and when I went to start the car it was like "KUH KUH KUH KUH KUH KUH" and shaking, was pretty funny lmao but no rough idles at all I love it. Smoke show was awesome too!
I'm considering doing this soon, my 96 c200 has a very different setup. The acc cable goes straight to the TB. Also the size of the TB is much bigger. Same location but it's huge and side mounted. I'm getting random loss of power and stalling. It's not happened recently but the idle isn't as smooth as it should be. I think the stall and power loss has occurred only once in the last 12k. It used to happen a lot, a service from a main dealer made the issue lessen out. No idea what they done but it went from happening once on a drive to once in a blue moon. I'm doing a service today. I was told years ago from a main dealer it was a regulator but I've forgotten which one.
***** I finally got around to doing this and the difference to throttle response, power and idle smoothness is insane. I had to use petrol to remove the gunk and it worked fine, my car has 40k of which 90% is bad town miles on the clock. Before I cleaned it up I had to press the gas about 20% to get any response, now it's almost instant, I am having to feather the gas which is a great difference. It's almost like my old mans newer 2008 180 compressor clc. I really like his car, it's so responsive literally I just need to feather the gas. I get way above the advertised mpg according to the inboard computer. Back to the w202, I urge anyone with one to do this little job. The flap on mine was very stiff and full of rubbish. I have two questions when I go over a speed hump I get a creaking sound from the front, is that a bush? Also at about 15 to 25 mph I get a constant sound as if I've driven over a metal drain cover. You know that metal clunk clunk sound. Any idea what that might be?
Gunzee you can lubricate the squeaking bushed with a lanolin based spray, if that doesn't work it is likely a sway bar end bushing... about $3 each and 5 minutes to replace. The clunking at 15-25 mph is possibly a loose brake bad, and possibly a caliper slide that is sticky and needs to be greased..try touching and holding a tiny bit of pressure on the brake pedal at the speed it rattles ..if the noise changes , the pads are making the noise...My c230 always goy better than advertised mpg..great cars
I have a c230 2007 but the throttle body is not where your video shows it to be. I tried to look for other videos but this is a closest one. Any tips would greatly appreciated.
My mechanic said its definitely the throttle body, since its old. He said it isnt the head gasket, so that helps. And i believe he said the vaccum lines are good too, and he cleaned the throttle body about a month ago with the tune up. But does that cause the rough idle, engine revving when idle and driving, and more recently, the HORRIBLE mpg (Every tank gets me only about 230 miles! its killing me!)?
I just did mine the other day. That screen was a mess!!! Today I seafoamed it through the vacuum line right on the throttle body using that little nipple. I had so much crap built up, one of my cylinders misfired and caused it to go into limp mode. I drove it for about a mile with a miss with the check engine light on. Turned off the engine then back on, no more limp mode. All cylinders working fine. Hopefully next time that won't happen. It kind of gave me a scare.
Thanks a lot for this video! I had a problem with stalling at lights that got gradually worse, I did everything like in this video (the throttle body was very gunky) and it solved the stalling problem completely. Unfortunately now I've got rough idle. Not much, but it's quite annoying, because before the cleaning the engine was running very smoothly. Do you have any ideas what went wrong? And thanks again for the video, I didn't have any fault codes showing up and finding the problem in dealership would've cost me a lot more than a bottle of carb cleaner!
turn the key to the 2nd position without starting..leave it that way for 5 minutes, I have found this seems to let the electronic throttle actuator relearn where to park itself when at idle..it is also possible that some junk got past the throttle when cleaning and may have slightly fouled a plug
I'm wondering if this will help with the P1580 cruise circuit low voltage code I'm having on my 1997 C280? Going to inspect the wiring and connections as well. Also, the code goes away and doesn't show up after I reset the car when it goes into limp mode. It only shows up sometimes. Not sure what's going on.
Once Again another fantastic video very well presented in every respect ; ,may I express my sincere thanks, this is my next job so I now feel a bit more confident to tackle the job. Kind regards Alan England U.K
Your video is really good i like it,it helps a lot,i need to do that soon. Do you have another video about fixing a head gasket leakage? Thank you for your video,Great job!
This could be a dumb question, but does the seafoam smoke have any negative effects on the muffler? should I remove it to avoid problems all together, or is that pointless because the seafoam smoke is harmless
I have a '98 w202 C230 and was just quoted $2300 to replace the throttle body actuator. Based on your video I think I could do it myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
$2300...that's criminal...it's simple to remove,as in the video..nothing to really be aware of...if you need a rebuilt or repaired actuator, check this guys channel..he rebuilds them ruclips.net/user/vsandvs
***** Thank you for posting the video or i would have never thought to replace it myself. After my research I definitely feel like I was being taken advantage of. Does this require a special kind of Allen wrench?
Hey Fupabox, love all the videos. Been helping me a lot on my 95 C220. Question -> I cleaned the MAF and cleaned the throttle body with some intake cleaner and got a nice seafoam smokeshow. However, sometimes my car will start idling really rough when I'm stopped at a light. It'll go away after and then come back the next day or the day after. I didn't take apart the throttle body and clean it, I just sprayed seafoam into the throttle body with the engine running and then gave it some gas. Thoughts on what it could be? Fuel Filter? IAC valve? Thanks!
+Kevin Berar could be any of the above..or the Maf..they just tend to go bad and don't really respond to cleaning unless there is oil build up from a K&N filter or something similar. Could also be engine /transmission mounts
Yes , with a hockey puck as a jack pad to keep from denting the differential.. Then put jack stands under the subframe or the round jack pads .. I try to keep the time the jack is under the differential to a minimum.
@@fupabox while driving. The car has full power but for some reason it won't let me go pass 4k. I can have my foot all the way down and still won't go over 4k.
Hey fup just me again!! I'll have to look thru all your vids shortly. Having a major prob with my 96 c280! It started 2 weeks ago with all the rain here in florida. I have sense changed all coil packs with new well's coil's, i have replaced all plug wire's(bosch premium), I have replace all plugs that only had 300 miles on them, I have also replace the maf( and the ohmn reading from the new to the old is way different the replacement is bosch) I am now considering the throttle body? help!!
Never use throttle body cleaner or carrb cleaner while engine is running. Seafoam only. This is what Seafoam is meant for if not working on lawnmower or boat engine. SEAFOAM FOG sprayed into intake, can of Seafoam for the vacuum line, Very slowly. __________________________ 1.Seafoam cleaner/lube 2.Seafoam Fogger. 3.Seafoam liquid in can. __________________________
Hey Fupabox, im a fan of your youtube page with all your DIYs but I have a '94 w202 that has a rough idle. With this it also hesitates on acceleration, the rpms fluxuate a lot, and an occasional smell with a rare sight of white smoke. The car has 254,000 miles but i just had a full 400$ tune up on it. Would a dirty throttle body be the cause of this? Idk if i should try this yet.
Hello Fupabox. Your videos are amazing. I have a question for you I recently switched a faulty coil along with the PMS ECU on my benz c200 -96. The car did run on four cylinders again, however another problem occured. The car idles pretty low at 5-800 and has always done that. The idling is pretty stable, moves up and down just a tiny bit but doesnt stall at all. The problem is when I press the gas pedal too quick the car instantly stalls. When I press the gas pedal veeery slightly it does rev up like normal and does not stall when I release the throttle. It's only stalling when I press the throttle too rapidly. Can this have something to do with the new ECU? (I can add that the car showed these symptoms with the old ecu this winter when it was very cold outside, but just for 10 brief seconds after first startup in the morning. Usually when I had backed up out of my lawn with very moderate throttle the issue dissapeared.) Someone mentioned about reprogramming the new ECU or can there be other issues that match these symptoms? I'd really like to get the benz back out on the road again.. Maybe its the TPS? Sincerely, James
Hey James Possible that the ECU needs programming to match the engine , but have you tried an Idle relearn ? turn key to last position before starting where all the lights on the dash come on . don't start car and leave the key like that for 5-10 minutes , after that start the car and check if idle is at the proper speed . could be a dirty throttle body, dirty MAF sensor, Fuel pressure regulator is another good possibility and easy fix
Please, can you tell me, how you changed your watch display color, and do you have a clue how to fix thermometer display? PS. your videos are awesome, keep up the good work... :)
HI BUD THANX FOR THE USEFUL VIDEO MAY I ASK YOU AFTER THE CLEANING OF THE THROTTLE BODY IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THE REV WILL START PLAYING UP AND DOWN. THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CLK55 W208 AMG I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE REVS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN OR IS IT A BAD MAF SENSOR? THANKS IN ADVANCE
it sounds like an air leak around the throttle body..check to make sure the gasket or o-ring that seals the throttle body to the intake is properly in place..to check without removing, spray some carb cleaner or maf cleaner around the base of the throttle body while the car is idling...if it makes the idle change then there is an air leak
Have a 05 Mercedes c230 k when turn on AC the idle fluctuates up and down like going to die. It is a supercharge, but has no more supercharge power as you step on the gas paddle it picks up slowly. It came out the code says too much oxygen mix. I seen lots of ppl changed the O 2 censor, but nothing changes. I wondering what is the main issue that causes?? I don't want to change ABCDE.. to get to the issue. I want to know what is the main issue?
I have a 1994 C220. I wanted to know the main difference between removing the throttle body for your facelifted model, and my pre-facelift model. Is there anything I should look out for or avoid? I just dont want to try to clean it and the throttle not work at all.
Scratch that, but the problem is my throttle body stays open so the car keeps accelerating. Any ways to fix this? The springs around it seem fine, I cleaned majority of the throttle body, and the I can't accelerate last 3k rpms too quickly ir it might get stuck open. Any ideas.?
Tony Sparks likely there is an issue with the electronic throttle actuator...this guy rewires and rebuilds them, and has a ton of youtube vids fixing them www.restoreyourmercedes.com/Mercedes%20throttle%20body%20rewire.html
Thanks for your repsonse. And your videos are amazing btw. I Cleaned my throttle body and it helped, but I will look into either replacing it or trying to see if the rewire is possible, due to my lack of expertise lol
Do you know if it's really bad to push in the butterfly with your hands on an electric throttle body such as this one? Will it damage it and cause a rough idle?
no it won't hurt anything unless you have the ignition on when you do it..then it will likely try to slice your finger off..so key out when cleaning it. . Always best to turn the key to second click once cleaning is complete and let it sit in the on position without starting for a few minutes for the idle to reset
Any suggestions for a slightly fluctuating idle when warm in park? Cleaned TB, new plugs, no apparent vacuum leaks, MAF looks new, no CEL codes. I've heard it could be a coil or upstream O2 but both are pretty expensive to replace on a whim...
I had a slightly lumpy idle and it mostly resolved by turning the key to position 2 without starting, then left it for 5 minutes..the electronic idle stopped hunting around and seemed smoother afterward...there was no precedent I could find for doing this, and no information anywhere...it just seemed to work for me..the electronic actuator on the throttle seems to hunt around at idle a tiny bit, and this slightly cured it...
hmmmm... Should have led with I have a c220 with mechanical throttle haha. Oddly enough though I noticed in OBD live data the TPS % jumps a little bit at idle
c220 ..ok...throttle position sensor could be worn, or not resting all the way back on the switch when the throttle is released..is the throttle return spring loose or is the throttle cable too tight ?
there is a little bit of free play in the throttle before the engine responds, if that means anything. It jumps up and down consistently by maybe 30-50rpm every half a second. And from 1.3-2.5% tps or so but not necessarily in sync with the engine revs. But I noticed a similar symptom when very slightly revving the engine to 1050-1100
Hay I cleaned the throttle body of my 97 C280 (M104) and now I have a check engine light on even though my car's running great. Do you think I ruined my car?
Hi there, I have a question guys, I own a Mercedes c 220 cdi 2005, when I start the car I get to go and it starts choking on it self, after that it will only rev up to 3000 rpms and the check engine light is illuminated on the board, when i scanned it on the computer it showed throttle position, I'm really desperate I would like to know what should I do and also when I turn off the engine the throttle stays open, is that normal ?
More on the rough idle now.... Its worst when there is low load on the engine. Turning on a/c, turning the wheel, using highbeams, etc and you can feel through the steering wheel/floor the idle smooth out
have you checked the battery ? sounds like possibly the alternator is struggling to keep a full charge at low rpm...do you have the push button digital display for the hvac unit..or the round knobs ?
New battery. Electrical seems good. Push button HVAC like you had. Idk it seems like ignition or vacuum or something because it never does it when in gear
The Stiver hmmm... if you have a handheld propane torch you can turn the gas on lightly (obviously without lighting it) and kind of aim the propane flow at vacuum connections..the idle will increase if the propane is being sucked in anywhere..the propane won't damage anything ,but the torch end can possibly be ignited if there is a really good spark near it...I have never seen that happen but it is possible...it's the quickest way to find a vacuum leak,or rule out the possibility...another possible leak could be dipstick tube seal, oil cap seal,...a bad MAF usually makes it impossible to idle, but could possibly just cause it to run a bit rough
Hmmm I tried using brake cleaner spray but ill try the propane torch. Would an HVAC actuator leak affect that? My vents are kinda screwy sometimes depending on engine vacuum. I've heard of leaks at the junction block but mine seems fine
The Stiver It is possible..I haven't had much experience with the vacuum system ...never had any issues with one in any of the Benzs I've owned or worked on,other than a cracked plastic vacuum line or 2 in the engine compartment..
My 1999 w202 1.8 which being left idle for couple years, problem is on start up engine makes a thumping sound and won't take rev, gets abit bitter when warm, would this be the problem or should I try seafoam in fuel tank.
Could be dirty injectors a bad spark plug , bad coil . Almost anything . The thumping sounds like it is likely a miss on one of the cylinders . If it’s a dirty injector the seafoam could help .
@@fupabox well after changing coil packs, plugs, injectors, fuel fliter, fuel pump, cleaned throttle body, car still not taking the accelerator, no lights on dash.😣
Have the same car 1997 c230, clean throttle body as you did runs good but as i slow down to a stop it starts jerking and almost dying. Any idea of what could be, getting 400 code which is EGR but how in the heck do you get to it? i believe it's on back wall of engine. Help
If you have an EGR (they changed to a switchover valve at some point in 1997.. it is on the rear of the engine and attaches to the exhaust manifold with a flexible metal tube.. Before removing it ..have you checked and cleaned your MAF sensor, it is a very likely culprit with the symptoms you are having
So I am getting zero throttle response from the petal and from throttle in the engine. Replace throttle body with a used part. Still nothing any advice on why there would be zero throttle response? How can I test a throttle body?
the only way I know to test one is to plug it into the harness and see if it responds to the signal from the pedal actuator...you may need to get the codes read to find the fault... what year and model is your car exactly, and I will see what I can dig up in my files
***** it is a 1998 C230 Baseline w202. I unhooked the battery installed the part then hooked battery back up and it didn't do anything. I thought that would reset it so that the computer would recognize it. I did buy a used part so i bought another part that is tested and guaranteed to be in working order. If this next Throttle Body doesn't work i'm concerned that it is either the wiring or the ECM/ECU. Have you ever had to replace a ECU?
this one was not a kompressor . If you aren't comfortable using seafoam in the intake , you can just add 1/2 can to your fuel tank before filling up . Do it on 2 tanks of fuel and it will clean just as well , with no fear of getting seafoam into the supercharger
@@fupabox thank you. I did find a seafoam video about using it on turbos and they were responding to other people who were asking about supercharged cars. Seafoam says it's safe. I just put a can in my fuel so I might just do a second can like you suggested. Thanks
Hi fupabox, I have a 1999 c240 w202 V6 and have rough idling issue when cold. The whole car vibrates, it stays for quite some time and when i turn off the engine after it is heated up at 90 degree and start again after a little rest, it goes away. Is this something which can be fixed by cleaning the throttle body? I have cleaned the MAF sensor though, but the issue is still there.
try resetting the idle... put the key in the ignition and turn the key to the position where all the lights on the dash turn on (2nd position ) don't touch the gas pedal or the brakes and leave it like that for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes turn the key off and then start the car
Thanks for your response Fupabox, I tried doing that but don't see any change in the rough idling. I'll replace the coolant temperature sensor as you suggested and see if it works. :)
+Saeed Saleh differnt on the w210.. the V6 engine has a different throttle body this video is very similar to your w210 ruclips.net/video/SAIPEfC1xhk/видео.html

+fupabox I watch Vic's channel, he is the only guy I have seen who repairs/manufactures wiring harnesses with that terrible insulation that flakes off- Nothing against MB but that is a serious problem and in my opinion should have been recalled.Victor gets work from people all over the world
Which valve ? any engine codes ? does the compressor clutch kick in ? what year and model is your car . A first thing to try without spending any $ or even opening the hood .. turn the key to the position where all the warning lights on the dashboard come on..the last position before starting.. leave the key in that spot for 10 minutes..during that time make sure not to touch the brake or gas pedal. Then turn the key off and start the engine. This may reset the air valve.
+fupabox it's the L shaped piece that is right on top of the engine coming from the throttle. The crack is small and it hasn't seemed to cause any problems. Nor can I sense any air being sucked in or blown out from the crack so I don't know.
Okay my idle when idle in neutral or in park is at 700, but when I put it in gear it drops to right above the 500 mark. I have a 1997 c230 just like yours, please help!
check your alternator output at idle in drive . If your headlights dim while in drive with foot on brake , then brighten when you give it some gas, your alternator or the voltage regulator on back of the alternator is going bad
@@fupabox okay so I got a a reader that plugs up to the obd2 port. Battery says 12.6 and I think the alternator is reading around 13.2 to 13 6 is that to low? The light shimmer a little when cold and cold air injection is activated but doesn't do anything when low
Check out this video. C230 Kompressor problem. Coil or ECU problem this exactly how my car is acting. i replaced the throttle body and i am still getting zero response. I am thinking it is either the wiring to the Throttle body or the ECU. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
***** it was doing that before and after i replaced the throttle body. which leads me to believe that its not the throttle body and its either the coil or the ECU.

URGENT : I cleaned the throttle . Put everything back together, car wont start. It s like it s stuck . No light on the dashboard . Benz w202, 1995, 1799cm3, 4 cylinders
turn the ignition key to the last position before starting when all the dash lights come on ...leave the key on in that position for 10 minutes to let the throttle body reset the idle position of the throttle valve . then turn key off and restart

But does that cause the rough idle, engine revving when idle and driving, and more recently, the HORRIBLE mpg (Every tank gets me only about 230 miles! its killing me!)?
hey fupa i am thinking about buying a c230 what sort of maintenance are we talking about ? is it a reliable car?
I just did mine the other day. That screen was a mess!!! Today I seafoamed it through the vacuum line right on the throttle body using that little nipple. I had so much crap built up, one of my cylinders misfired and caused it to go into limp mode. I drove it for about a mile with a miss with the check engine light on. Turned off the engine then back on, no more limp mode. All cylinders working fine. Hopefully next time that won't happen. It kind of gave me a scare.
Excellent explanation with video of how to clean the throttle body!
thanks...hope it helped
Indeed it did
Question: a high idle in Park is also an indication of throttle issues?
Do I have to remove the battery before removing the thorttle body? And when finished, do I need to reset anything?
Thank you.
$2300...that's criminal...it's simple to remove,as in the video..nothing to really be aware of...if you need a rebuilt or repaired actuator, check this guys channel..he rebuilds them

***** Thank you for posting the video or i would have never thought to replace it myself. After my research I definitely feel like I was being taken advantage of. Does this require a special kind of Allen wrench?
James Nelson
nope..just a 5mm allen wrench socket, or an allen key will work as long as it's long enough to put some force on it
How did you check your ideal through the climate control?
I own a 98 c230 and it won't go pass 4k rpm's. Some say that it could be the map sensor but I don't think that's the problem.
do you mean while driving or in park. ? In park the engine cuts out at 4k to prevent damage
@@fupabox while driving. The car has full power but for some reason it won't let me go pass 4k. I can have my foot all the way down and still won't go over 4k.

You the man fupabox! Save me so much time and money

Nice video, it’s gonna work also with my c200 kompressor, isn’t it?
Hello Fupabox. Your videos are amazing. I have a question for you
I recently switched a faulty coil along with the PMS ECU on my benz c200 -96.
Hey James
Possible that the ECU needs programming to match the engine , but have you tried an Idle relearn ? turn key to last position before starting where all the lights on the dash come on . don't start car and leave the key like that for 5-10 minutes , after that start the car and check if idle is at the proper speed . could be a dirty throttle body, dirty MAF sensor, Fuel pressure regulator is another good possibility and easy fix
Please, can you tell me, how you changed your watch display color, and do you have a clue how to fix thermometer display?
PS. your videos are awesome, keep up the good work... :)
HI BUD THANX FOR THE USEFUL VIDEO
MAY I ASK YOU AFTER THE CLEANING OF THE THROTTLE BODY IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THE REV WILL START PLAYING UP AND DOWN.
THATS WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CLK55 W208 AMG I CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SHORTLY AFTER THAT THE REVS STARTED GOING UP AND DOWN OR IS IT A BAD MAF SENSOR?
THANKS IN ADVANCE
it sounds like an air leak around the throttle body..check to make sure the gasket or o-ring that seals the throttle body to the intake is properly in place..to check without removing, spray some carb cleaner or maf cleaner around the base of the throttle body while the car is idling...if it makes the idle change then there is an air leak
with spraying it down in the the motor as u did. will it need a lil change soon?
4:29 what is that vacuum for because I found out IT was melted on my car and I wanna know if I should replace it or not
Very interesting. Many Thanks sir
You are most welcome
Have a 05 Mercedes c230 k when turn on AC the idle fluctuates up and down like going to die. It is a supercharge, but has no more supercharge power as you step on the gas paddle it picks up slowly. It came out the code says too much oxygen mix. I seen lots of ppl changed the O 2 censor, but nothing changes. I wondering what is the main issue that causes?? I don't want to change ABCDE.. to get to the issue. I want to know what is the main issue?
I really love your helpfull videos, thank you @fupabox !

Thank you for all your videos.

thanks for the kind comment...glad to have helped :)
Good vid. What kind of engine oil do you use?
anything namebrand....The c230 doesn't require synthetic...usually I use Quaker state 20w50 summer ,and 5w30 winter
Hey @fupa my idle fluctuates at idle without the compressor on, very occasionally it will have a big puff(not as often anymore) any suggestions?
@@fupabox Ok great thanks!
Would it be the same procedure for a 1997 e320 3.2 6 inline
Is this the part that should be replaced when the code gives P203B Fault of function monitor in electronic accelerator (P0221)?
possibly, but not always.. that code is fairly generic...did you get a star scan or a regular obd2 ?
I would just reset it with an OBD 2 reader, there is prob more airflow now and the engine computer isn't sure why
Can you clean the cleaner with a rag?
My gas petal is loosing power and code says throttle body. Can I simply clean it or do I need to replace it?
you may be able to just clean it
Hi there, I have a question guys, I own a Mercedes c 220 cdi 2005, when I start the car I get to go and it starts choking on it self, after that it will only rev up to 3000 rpms and the check engine light is illuminated on the board, when i scanned it on the computer it showed throttle position, I'm really desperate I would like to know what should I do and also when I turn off the engine the throttle stays open, is that normal ?
Do i need to relearn the throttle after i clean it in W202 C180 with obd2 scanner ? or it will be o.k it self after days?
best toi do the relearn . just turn ignition on without starting and leave it for 5 minutes
Nice job man
thank you very much for your advice-you are a professional
Thank you so much for your reply !
320K miles - wow! nice
The Stiver
hmmm... if you have a handheld propane torch you can turn the gas on lightly (obviously without lighting it) and kind of aim the propane flow at vacuum connections..the idle will increase if the propane is being sucked in anywhere..the propane won't damage anything ,but the torch end can possibly be ignited if there is a really good spark near it...I have never seen that happen but it is possible...it's the quickest way to find a vacuum leak,or rule out the possibility...another possible leak could be dipstick tube seal, oil cap seal,...a bad MAF usually makes it impossible to idle, but could possibly just cause it to run a bit rough
Hmmm I tried using brake cleaner spray but ill try the propane torch. Would an HVAC actuator leak affect that? My vents are kinda screwy sometimes depending on engine vacuum. I've heard of leaks at the junction block but mine seems fine
The Stiver
It is possible..I haven't had much experience with the vacuum system ...never had any issues with one in any of the Benzs I've owned or worked on,other than a cracked plastic vacuum line or 2 in the engine compartment..

James Nelson No.. I haven't
Good job
Is your car supercharged? I have a kompressor and I'm trying to figure out if it's OK to use seafoam or not.
this one was not a kompressor .

After 10 minutes turn the key off and then start the car
it could also be a few other things..coolant temperature sensor, stuck thermostat
Thanks for your response Fupabox, I tried doing that but don't see any change in the rough idling. I'll replace the coolant temperature sensor as you suggested and see if it works. :)

My supercharger isint kicking in and the valve for it is staying closed any suggestions without spending to much money?
Which valve ? any engine codes ? does the compressor clutch kick in ? what year and model is your car . A first thing to try without spending any $ or even opening the hood .. turn the key to the position where all the warning lights on the dashboard come on..the last position before starting.. leave the key in that spot for 10 minutes..during that time make sure not to touch the brake or gas pedal. Then turn the key off and start the engine. This may reset the air valve.
