Building a hidden supply of water for the city

  • Bringing more life back to the valley! In this episode of Timberborn I start building additional streams and waterfalls through the valley so we can end up with more green space and more farmable territory.
The biggest element of this is piping water directly to the main beaver city and hiding it under a foundation of platforms and directing overflow back into the river. The plan is to build the city up on top of this while still given the beavers easy access to a large supply of water to drink.

An entertainment center for the beavers may be nice on the platform. Giver the Beavers some +health/happiness + in the middle of the city.

I’ve just jumped in on this after RUclips suggested this video, but how have you got 130+ beavers and so much constructed and only 8/9 well-being!? Dude, you’re making life so much harder. Your beaver move and work speed would be so much higher if you sort out food, decoration and recreation, you’d need half the beavers to do what you’re doing now.

Yeah all of that water and the beavers don't have a single pond or shower
Wet fur is considered a basic necessity if I remember correctly

Thanks for the reminder! I like the structural planning of the game so much I tend to overlook the happiness modifiers for the pops!

@@ZeddTheBuilder You will have to rebuild everything again, in the experimental version you can build water drains (not dams) placed at any height, they have bad water sensors and close automatically. And why would anyone need any food? Life is hard - and then you die. XD!
      Nice vid!

It's not terribly efficient because you need a few more harvest buildings with overlapping areas of effect, but I'm making some garden spots in my folktale cities. You lose a little space by having different harvesting buildings, but you can, for instance, have a forest where you 'randomly' have dandelions, bushes, chestnuts, maple syrup and pine resin. Once it's planted you can remove the forester that planted it, since those all regenerate once planted as long as you keep them alive. For Ironteeth I'd probably do more formal rows of different things, but you can still mix them in some symmetrical patterns. I'm playing in experimental mode and I'm loving the sluices for dealing with bad tide. (I do wish you could put harvested dirt on top of the platforms though... that would basically let you do a lot of new creative things like gardens in the sky.)
Late game I blast trenches under lots of my roads and use them as channels for water and gear paths. Since they run just about everywhere it keeps lots of land nice and green.

now this is what i want to see in a timberborn play through, the planning, the development, the very few and controlled mistakes, al the other players I've seen half of the time don't know what they want, the other half don't know what they are doing. great channel already subscribed.

This videos are relaxing. And seeing you plan that monster of a dam and then Building smaller dams inside it and then making ir bigger. Like, the size of the project is enormous, but it's just so relaxing watching and listening to you plan all of it.

Wow, just amazing. The handwork in behind this is so much appreciated!
I understand that need of both legs of V-shaped stairs, but all that scaffoldings and platforms are really stopping the view. I'm sure you can think of some better and even more beautiful option.

Ya know what would be cool? If they added some kind of hanging vines or plants to put on those scaffolding.

Something I think you could do is create a mechanism to stem the Badtide River by redirecting it somewhere else and then turning the rest of that mountain plateau into a giant lake, potentially with a suburb or something.

10:30 Instead of moving the stairs away from the cliff face, you could also move them into the cliff face (dynamite out 2 deep and 1 deep).

Sluice gates look like their going to enable so many new setups. Deeper dams, automation, filtering bad water... I was really surprised when they snuck the 3d water into the release notes for update 6.
