  • Hello! Today we'll finally be building rails in a modpack centred around building rails... around the Minecraft Transit Railway (MTR) mod by ‪@JonathanHo33‬! We go over the basics of the MTR mod, including the mental model of how the mod works, setting up stations, routes, and depots, signalling, the fare system, decorations, and the tunnel creator. Along the way, we set up the first two stations in the world, namely base otherside and Iron Savannah. The building for the latter will be completed in a future episode alongside a local (almost) vanilla rail system in the area.
    Please excuse the quality of video towards the end; it seems that the bitrate is insufficient to keep up with the details in the video. Hope to improve that next time! I'll slowly increase it until I deem it sufficient.
    Rail Link is a custom fabric modpack about "connecting the world with rails", focussed on facilitating the structure and rail building process. It is a vanilla-styled modpack aimed to reduce the grind and eliminate the annoying parts of vanilla Minecraft.
    The modpack is unlikely to be released and I'll just take this as a modpack development learning experience. However, the mods are listed below if you're interested. I hope you enjoy the series, though!

    This is such a fun modpack, I have always wanted to have a proper rail system in minecraft over the usual boring rails and Minecarts we have. Really enjoyed the video and look forward to how you further expand ur network. I can imagine this would be really fun for a multiplayer server, where you can create trains to ur friends bases and charge them to come over

    Hello Tamago, I'm a Hong Konger and this mod seems really interesting! Definetely trying it, and might make a few IRL MTR stations. (Or close enough to IRL)

    It's great how you explained all of the little things you have to do to get a railway up and done :)). Great mod, I've had tons of fun with it, I'm looking forward to seeing you have more fun with it too.
    Btw, quick tip, in the routes menu, when you select the timestamps, you can use shift to select ALL at once. Quite useful :>.

    This seems like a fun mod to have on a server to get between places. Been using Create for my rail network so far, but I want to give this mod a shot for player transport and use create for cargo.

      I've not personally messed with Create trains before, but sounds like a good plan! It's quite a fun mod indeed, though I'm sure Create trains are fun to mess with too. Thanks for commenting, Buff!

    Very nicely done from the station build, I find it useful when I build a station using the MTR mod to have the elevators and Escalators in stations either elevated or underground. Also as for the glitching, it was from having objects on the path of the tracks, just need to use a wider tunneling tool in the mod on some of those sections and should not glitch in those sections.

    • @TamagoRails
      @TamagoRails  9 дней назад

      Right yes; they could be nice additions in place of stairs or bubble elevators in stations with height variations. I chose to stick to the more vanilla bubble elevators this time, but I agree that it could potentially look nice in say, the Iron Savannah and more modern builds :)
      Ah okay good to know the cause of that glitching. I'll try using a wider tunneling tool in those sections to prevent that; I didn't want to use bigger ones because it would make the tracks too wide for my liking.
      Thanks for commenting and letting me know about the glitch; glad to hear you liked the station build, Acela!

      Almost forgot, the nice thing about the elevators is they can be customized in size from how high the ceiling and how wide the the size of the elevators are.

    hey any chance you could reply with the sizes for the other train tunnels like in the vid you showed mini trains so i wrote down the dimesions for the tunnels, but was curious bout the other trains or if theyre even worth it in your opinion.

    • @TamagoRails
      @TamagoRails  7 дней назад

      Hello; I'm not sure what you're asking, but assuming you're asking about the train sizes, they can be found in the MTR wiki, including the required depot lengths for the different trains (see the Trains page). Tunnel creator and other creator sizes can be found in-game, or you could go to Jonathan Ho's tutorial series episode 6 where he talks about those.
      Not sure what you mean by "worth it"; I don't think there are actual speed differences in these trains. It's just differing sizes and models, so depends on what you're going for in your build!

    • @TamagoRails
      @TamagoRails  11 дней назад +3

      Hello; at the time of starting out this pack (which was over 2 years ago), Create trains weren't really a thing. So I decided to keep the pack as vanilla as possible and choosing the MTR mod as the rail mod for the series. Thanks for checking it out!

    • @romeuvieira7751
      @romeuvieira7751 8 дней назад

      @@TamagoRailsi think crate is more vanilla then that

    • @TamagoRails
      @TamagoRails  7 дней назад

      @@romeuvieira7751 yea I would agree; it's an exception I've made with respect to that general principle for the modpack, since I found this mod interesting.
      On a related note, one could also argue that some mods I've used here are less vanilla than the way Create does it, e.g. the Alloy Forge in S1E3. Though it's a matter of personal taste and what I've worked with in the past that led me to choose this; I didn't want to add too much complexity from Create personally.

  • @german_novotiable
    @german_novotiable 10 дней назад

    Bruh, just use the create mod and not this bs

    • @TamagoRails
      @TamagoRails  9 дней назад +1

      As I've iterated in a response to another comment, Create trains weren't implemented yet back when I started this pack over 2 years ago. Decided to keep it as vanilla as possible and use this mod.
      I wouldn't call the mod bad either; it has a different focus of being a public transport simulator in my opinion (as said in the video) rather than a traditional train mod.
