well, this game doesn't automatically generate a house for you, but the freedom of building and the player-run economy makes it interesting, though I will admit there are some downsides to Eco.
Eco is the closest thing to "statville" in terms of a video game where individuals effect the outcome. You basically hop into a server with like 100 other players and create society, it got a huge update recently that overhauled government. Now you can form towns, towns can form into countries, and countries can form into larger entities like the EU.

I found the Instagram a bit over seven months ago, in June, and I joined the discord when it was less than a week old. It was a simple thing at the time, and I never gave it much thought. That is, until I started speaking to different people there. Now, some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting were met through Statville. Sam, Vaughn, Erica, Luna, Charles, Cal, Daniel, Ash, Josie, Emilia, and everyone else that may have escaped my mind, if any of you are reading this, then please remember that I love you all to death. A few little clicks of buttons have changed my life. And to you, Mr. Statville, I owe the greatest thanks of all. You've given me a distraction through some of the darkest times of my life, like being in a mental hospital and losing my father. I will never, ever be able to express my full gratitude. Thank you for your "simple experiment"

The fanbase surrounding this project has been wild. Especially the strong Discord community - one that I myself have been a part of since its release 7 months ago, and is a long-time moderator of. I think this is one of the best things, Not just on instagram but in the world. This goes to show how many people are actually willing to make the betterment for our lives, just imagine if the same people took effort into doing this in real life. It just shows that a fake city is still booming on the internet, As if it was portland or new york, or chicago. Great job and I love this concept.

I want to say that I love this idea. I don’t just mean that I find it sorta neat, but I am IN LOVE with it.
Really cool. A tip for lessoning workload is to make other people do the work lol, hold an architecture/layout design competition for your followers to submit buildings (with a max poly count or something) and vote on and you get 1. free labour. 2. Community engagement 3. Make people feel more invested in the project.

Make it as an iOs\Android game where every account registered with instagram = new home randomly. Or if it's in apartment, spawn in a room.
Player can buy a clothes, decorations, etc.
The gameplay should have a button, have an ability to talk with people when nearby, can go for a walk, driving, bycling, go to the mountain, see sunset with a beautiful sky, etc.
Now you already make an AAA game 😂 easy money 😂
If u don't have a team, just make it open source, so the comunity can help it to grow up.

This is all wonderful but I’m frankly saddened that there are still no lighthouses in all of Statville. This must be remedied. The masses support this movement. I will stop at nothing to ensure that lighthouse development remain a top priority.

I joined around day 80, it has been really fun seeing the city growth!
I would love to see weekly updates again, even as the community pushes lore on its own, if the process can be simplified (more than it already is) It lets us interact with the "true" city more.

It's incredible how easily communities arise. Most people that joined, and stayed, probably did for the friends they made through Statville. It gives you such a sense of belonging, almost as if you're actually part of this city. A nice escape compared to modern cities irl where for the most part everyone can only live for themselves
I joined statville around the 100 day mark it was a lot of fun being apart of the early days and being able to vote on things that would make a difference. the thing i remember most about the early days was the F1 track. i remember opening up insta and being able to vote on the design of it and it was amazing. i’ve missing out on stuff with statville recently but this video definitely made me want to get back into and join more of the community! you’ve made a great thing!

I like the concept of gamifying social media. It brings back a sense of community that has long died with braindead algorithms and bot-ran accounts

0:33 The houses should NOT be removed, should be ruins (or progressively become more "ruined"), then only when someone decides to use a bulldozer or whatever (burning? etc.) only then the house gets removed (but it's still a black mark, where the burnt house was). :D
