Everyones talking about the builds themselves but im LOVING the mini history lessons/art history. Its so cool to learn about what certain styles are called, where they originated, and how they look when incorporated into minecraft. I loved when you showed the real life houses in comparison to the real ones!
Sorry if this was a little ranty, i just love art history and hearing people be passionate about it too :]

  • @SoraKHLuver
    @SoraKHLuver Год назад +21

I'd like to point out this video went by like a breeze. Your editing style is so good!
You have a way of storytelling that is compelling and inviting. You use tasteful visual indicators (squares and text, but just enough). You employ different angles to show a fuller picture and alternate locations and POVs to keep things fresh. The momentum is consistent, and you referencing your other work with just enough context for any viewer, old or new, to appreciate the work only helps keep us invested and up to speed. The pacing of it all just works so well thanks also to your relaxed narration and authenticity. We can tell a project feels exciting or frustrating or whatever, and it's humanizing. I feel like I've been invited to watch you explore your imagination. It's also nice that you're not yelling at the camera. No shade to other creators who do, I'm just highlighting how your style of videos is very welcoming and calming and enjoyable.
If I had one gripe, it would be that you don't linger enough on some shots (especially the more scenic ones,) but that also might take away from the pacing you've established. Still, love the edit. I loved the IRL references you used. So cool seeing you use real architecture as inspiration for these builds.
Clearly, I would love to see more 100 days videos like this!!

Hey I loved the video! I’m from San Francisco and I thought I could help you clear a couple things up.
Most people here just call them “Victorian,” not Queen Anne’s. As well as commonly confuse them with the similar Edwardian ones. (You’d probably like both)
Though a number of them are vividly painted, painted ladies refers to the five matching ones on what you called postcard row. They appear in the intro to full house, but the house they lived in is elsewhere in the city.
Fun fact, a few years ago they actually moved a Victorian and drove it a couple of blocks to make way for a new hotel or something. It’s worth looking up just to see a house driven around the city. Thank you again for the video!

It also reminds me I can take a similar approach myself rather than finding a good space and just trying to force a build together. I love Queen Anne Victorians. I researched them intensely because if I ever have enough money I’m going to build one for myself. I would buy one, but often they’re abandoned/unkept to the point of being condemned (not redeemable) or they’ve been renovated to make them more modern therefore all the character has been removed along with making it fit code.
There’s one across the street from where I grew up. a couple lives there and they’re house is well kept for its age. Then there’s one further down the street and it sat abandoned then someone tried renovating it, and as of now I don’t know what’s going on with it but no changes seem to have been made.

hey mog! I wanted to suggest this after seeing you manually chopping down trees. You don't always think about it when actually playing but by using a haste 2 beacon you can insta mine the wood. What I do to farm spruce is I spawn in spruce trees stacked on top of each other. Being on superflat and having over 380 blocks to go up makes it super easy to stack 20+ spruce trees on top of each other. Then, you just fly to the top and chop them all down. It takes me about 10 minutes to gather a shulker of logs using this strategy

    You earned my like.
And a comment. The building and editing are a work of art. I’d love to see another 100 days in a different section of the city!

I've been wanting to build victorians in minecraft forever but just couldn't ever get them to feel right. Thank you for explaining them so wonderfully in this video!!

The editing in your videos is so top tier, and I love seeing not only your amazing builds, but all of the research and thought put into the process. It makes it feel so much more personal than other videos in this genre. I’d love to see more like this!

Maybe for the billboard you could put a sign promoting one of the upcoming shows at the future opera house! Like Carmen, Don Giovanni, Barber of Seville, etc. Also, as someone who is in school for opera (as is the end goal) I cannot tell you how happy I was to hear about a potential opera house! I’m sure you no doubt have plans and I cannot wait to see it!

So I've been subbed to you for awhile now after watching a video a year or so ago and this is truly the first full video of yours I sat down and watched from start to finish. There are legit NO WORDS to fully comprehend what you have done here. From the first fact that this world is 3 YEARS OLD is absolutely incredible. Secondly, as an architecture student, it was AMAZING seeing how you not only referenced specific historical houses and buildings going into SO MUCH detail to make them as accurate as possible, all while putting your own creative twist on them as well! Not only that but you went into the history of each one! *chefs kisses xoxo* (side note 12:50 I got rid of some bad salmon in front of The Pink Lady on a family trip 15 years ago lol) Lastly, but DEFINATLY not least, the editing work is impeccable! You Sir have a new avid viewer and I am now going to watch this world grow from the start!
P.S. The shorts you have been doing are FREAKING AWESOME!
