    It's too late for the folks that didn't register. So please encourage others to register, especially before October. And those who are registered to get out and do your civic duty. 35% of eligible citizen voters turning out is far too low, and that is the estimated turnout this year. Persons that vote differently to you, are the loyal opposition. Non voters damage the system in my opinion, and re-enforce polarization of the politics and enable incumbent victory. It's simple 2nd grade math. 80 million non voters is sad. Thanks for caring about music, and our country and world. And, each other. Kind regards, Scott Rowland

    I think the best thing any of us can do is get out of our bubble and talk to people you may disagree with. I still believe 80% of us really aren't all that different and can find common ground, but the crazy 20% get all the headlines and stoke all the anger and fears, but what keeps most people in their tribes is not going outside their tribe to actually talk to those different from them. We have so much more in common than a lot of people believe.

      I hope you are right. The news here on the other side of the pond is shocking, all this hate and all these lies. What are you supposed to vote for when the truth suddenly isn’t worth anything anymore… 😕

    • @sethcashman1011
      @sethcashman1011 Год назад +3

      That is a pretty optimistic point of view, which is great. I’ve talked to plenty of people with whom I disagree politically, however, and 95% percent of the time, very little of any value has been achieved. Almost invariably, I end up conciliating just to keep the peace (it takes a shitload of energy to have a discussion with someone who is unwilling to accept anyone else’s perspective but their own - frankly more than I generally have to spare). It’s that remaining 5% that gives me hope.

    • @dckmusic
      @dckmusic Год назад +3

      @@sethcashman1011 I think its because of the bubbles people live in. When you only listen to one point of view all the time and all the people you know share the same point of view it becomes self-reinforcing. People have become hardened over time into their camps and continuously being villainized by the other camp doesn't help to break that cycle. If everyone got out of their bubbles and listened to others, it would take time but more understanding would come. A group in the States actually did this with people who only consumed news from one source - they made them watch other news sources and they actually came away with more moderate views after many months. They didn't necessarily change their view point on everything but they started to understand that most people in the other camp aren't evil incarnate as they are so often told by their leaders and trusted news sources. I could go into a lot more detail, but this probably isn't the place for that.

    I always thought that in front of the election booths there should be a separate booth where people would have to pass a test on simple political and social questions. If they pass, they are eligible for voting. If the test shows that they don’t know simple facts, voting should be denied. 👹

Hopefully everyone votes. I am so troubled by the increase in the antisemitism being a member of the tribe just as you are Lee. My wife's parents and grandparents were survivors of that G-d awful time in history. I just don't understand how some people can be so damn ignorant! Have a good rehearsal today in Chatsworth. Loved these Darrell songs. ❤ For the hands! I am so relieved that I got my voting done a few days ago. There's always a hullaballoo when I show up. I always study, to prepare for remaining calm and on task, whatever BS might come my way. There was the most ever BS this past week. I maintained and completed it. I'm always stuck hearing five different overwhelming background noises for the duration, and have to decipher some backwards new peculiarity in the structure of the audio layout, trying to only focus on what I'm trying to hear in the headset attached to the machine. I should always remember to select the very fastest speed. I chose "normal" this last time. Hard to believe there was a slower speed, but there was. There was a small gang of people roaming around interfering a lot, delaying a lot of stuff. If I had waited till today, at least ten extra miles would've been added to my walk over to the nearest location available. Last week was only about a mile and half each direction. 😊

And thank you for the heads up on the Lyle Lovett & The Large Band show from ACL. I didn't think I would be able to being here in Australia but I was able to find a streaming option via some randomly selected Californian location I chose and to my surprise it played, often we cannot access such things here down under from the States. What made this so special was like many others I followed your travels with Lyle and the band across the country a few months back, and enjoyed every moment. So to be able to sit down and watch an entire concert from that tour in the luxury of our lounge room on the big screen was extremely satisfying, a great way to end that journey with you, Lyle and the band. Many thanks 'ol mate. Stay safe.

    I am a first born American, my grandfather a socialist and jew was shot in the back and left for dead. Today’s news world wide is an echo of 1920’s Europe and Asia as shown by history in Italy, Germany, Spain and Japan. Fascism is a retrovirus without adequate hygiene it reforms.
    Tomorrow is like waiting for the aftermath of hurricane of unknown direction and severity. My head spins with a quote from Bob Dylan’s new book:
    “…But you’re in limbo, and you’re shouting at anyone who’ll listen, to take you out of this garden of evil. Get you away from the gangsters and psychopaths, this menagerie of wimps and yellow-bellies. You want to be emancipated from all the hokum. You don’t want to daydream your life away, you want to get beyond the borderlands and you’ve been ruminating too long…”

      Hi brother hope all is well. I am still struggling after fall last week.
      Sometimes it seems that society moves ahead only to revert to things less beneficial to life itself. Everything seems to be retrospective and tainted by loss of memory of serious events that could have had a detrimental effect on life itself. It seems like nothing ever gets learnt and nothing is gained. How will time remember this generation?
      Some people may think l have a negative outlook but I am a realist and I come from the ‘school of hard knocks’ just like many others who have a voice but never get heard.
      Your words are amazing and continue to stimulate and encourage brain cells to fire resulting in deep thought. I still remember ‘Deep Thought’ being the most powerful computer in the universe from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams.✌️🙏

    Darrell Scott certainly has something to say.
    Most Americans are not altruistic but vote from the hip pocket so I anticipate Congress and the Senate will be controlled by Republicans after your midterms unfortunately!

    Watched a pretty good music documentary on Chuck Leavell today. It's called Chuck Leavell: The Tree Man, it can be found on RUclips. The similiarities between he and Leland are amazing in this documentary. Both love music, their yards, pups, wives, concerned about climate change. They both have played with just about everyone in the music industry. The one thing that really stuck out is their work ethic is neck and neck to the finish line. When you watch it you can't help but think of how similar their paths are. There's a part towards the end where Chuck is working on a part for Jackson Brown's Load Out where I thought WOW. When he takes a trip to Paris with his wife I about fell over. Remember about 6-7 months when Lee and Maureen went to Paris? Watch the documentary you'll see what I mean.

    Lee: While on the subject of a Darrell ( or Daryl). I was reading about you on Wikipedia. It said very early in your career, while in college, you played with Daryl Dragon. He is best known as The Captain in the husband and wife musical duo "The Captain and Tenille". Did you ever do a RUclips video about him ? That would be interesting.

    Are we to understand that it’s all right for somebody like Roseanne Barr or Kanye West to have an opinion, but it’s not OK for you to have your own, Leland? Last I checked, America is not supposed to be exclusive. That’s one of the reasons I have lost my pride in this nation.
