Just heard this on NPR. He looks a lot different than I expected. The line "And only when i'm looking back, I see the straight and narrow," really got me.
Darrell Scott raises the bar for the Nashville Singer Songwriter, joining the ranks of Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Merle, Willie, Lyle Lovett, and the "Rest of the Best". Island Mountain Pat Straight up! YUP!
@4:28 That is what music looks like. That feeling right there is impossible to describe. Darrell Scott has the uncanny ability to take you there. A naional treasure that is buried below the depths of the garbage that is country and pop music today.
me and my mom were driving on a road trip to a funeral and we were crying so bad at this song. it both touched our hearts in a huge way for me, he plays with such emotion and hes realll tooo so good at the same time
"i love with all my heart, there is no way of stopping" ....."through the broken and the beautiful, the bad news and the good news is I love with all my heart" ... Man, what truth here... love's risky... you nailed it, Darrell.
I love this guy- such incredible lyrics... check out "Candles in the Rain" from his new cd... heart-wrenchingly sad song... written with such sensitive insight and tenderness... painfully truthful and so beautiful.
Interesting I prefer this version over the numerous other fingerpicked ones also posted on RUclips. There's something about the flat pick style here driving this song along which to me has a bit more gritty soul than the melodic fingerpicked style. His skill of course is masterful both ways but I'm talking my taste preference here.
@defroach30 National Treasure is so true. So much talent is out there (and he's one of the greatest) and yet so much inferior talent gets the publicity and riches.
The semi-muted tone of that Gibson gives his voice the proper "spotlight"
excellent song! Kind of reminds me Paul Simon's soulful side.
So honest and kind. I have so much respect for this man. I feel truly lucky to have found this music and the people who can hear it, too.
What a song.

Is it me or does the chorus sound a lot like Cash's 'Ring of Fire'...? From 1:25..

A: None
Q: Who is the Supporting Cast for a broken song
A:The Good Folks
hahahaa-Carhart has never made a beret. That's a stocking cap pushed up.
