  • Eric Church has now provided a response as to why he decided to perform the way he did at Stagecoach 2024. Eric Church received much backlash from fans over his Stagecoach 2024 performance after not performing many of his hit songs and remaining seated throughout his "gospel" inspired set.

I have been an Eric Church fan since I first heard Two Pink Lines about a month or so after Hell On The Heart video came out. Years, I have seen him live in concert 3 times. I looked at it this way, Church took us to Church.i have wanted to hear him singing hymns for years. So thank you Mr. Church. I hope you recorded it and it's released as a record.❤️

@donnadennis8359 I've been listening to Eric Church for a long time back then he was the opening act for Rascal flatts and there was some controversy then because he played too long and the headliners rascal flatts didn't get enough play time they ended up firing eric church from the tour but they ended up being really good friends with eric after eric's career took off.
      I love Eric church's music.

@saltysoul7059 I completely disagree! Unlike many country artists, who have a "sound," Eric Church is a master and completely unique. No two songs ever sound the same. The same cannot be said for other artists in the field, even the ones that I love to Kingdom come. @Eric Church, you just keep doing what you do best. You can't please everyone all the time, so don't give one thought about the haters. 🙂

I've seen him 9 times, including his Residency show at Chief's which was absolutely incredible. Friday night at Stagecoach was as good as his exclusive 400 person show at Chief's and one that will go down as the best I've ever seen. I've watched over and over again. I would pay for the album, I would pay big money to see it live. Friday night at Stagecoach was the moment when I fell in love with the Chief even more than I already was.

I was there. I’m a big fan of Eric Church and was looking forward to his performance because he was suppose to headline in 2020 but it got pushed back a couple years because of covid and they replaced him with Thomas Rhett because of scheduling. Now everyone has to understand when your at a festival there is a vibe. Now i think if i was steaming at home I would have enjoyed his set. He sounded great and I’m the kind of person that doesn’t mind someone trying something or being creative but I have to admit at stagecoach at 9/10 pm at night it was a weird time to do this. Jelly Roll had come out played his hits and brought out a rapper and did some hip hop covers and the crowd was pumped. He sounded incredible live, he was emotional to just be there and the crowd went wild. Fast forward to the headliner who is 15 min late (whatever no biggie) then comes out boring everyone to death with gospel hymns and a choir. Now don’t get me wrong it sounded beautiful but he played maybe 3 of his songs and the rest of the hour and half he played covers. I wanted to hear his hits and maybe I’m not a real fan then because I thought this but stagecoach was not the place to test this out. People pay hundreds of dollars for this festival not including drinks food and lodging and it’s not only Eric Church fans attending where anything and everything he does people will swoon. I’ve been to this festival the last 3 years, I have never seen so many people leave the headliner to go watch nickleback but that’s what happened. The crowd this year was very young because of Morgan Wallen headlining on Sunday who was incredible btw so maybe not the audience that would or ally go to his shows. I’m not young and i was looking forward to him but I stayed through half of the set still not hearing one of his songs and joined the masses. The reason why people left was because it’s the end of the night most people are drunk and ready for the main set and it was like being at church. Nobody goes to church drunk to rock out. He didn’t fit the vibe of the night at all. It was so disappointing. I spent over 2 grand this weekend and yes i saw some amazing artists and sets but when the headliner makes you walk to go see a band that hasn’t been relevant since 2006 lol I’d say epic fail.

Was there as well, and you absolutely nailed it with this response … I’m a fan, but context is everything and for the headliner slot at Stagecoach this was NOT it. I respect the approach but the venue was entirely incorrect. FYI Nickleback absolutely showed up and delivered… and probably earned a ton of new fans.

People want to see him fail so bad. What makes me so happy is that every unconventional performance he does just sets him more from the rest and takes him a little more to the next level. He may cause a stir with a few at first but obviously Eric Church knows exactly what he’s doing 🎶🕶️🎷💥

I thought Erics performance was amazing as well as cutting edge, outside the box the way he is known to be! This show proved how deep of a wavelength a performer he really is, not to many artist could have pulled this set off….pure magical. You really needed to absorb the show and how he was fitting it all together. I have been to over 25 Eric Church shows and everyone of them have a memory as well as a distinct difference. Could he have done what everyone thought he would do, yes. But thats what makes his fans love him so much there is no recipe to what he will do next, keeps you guessing and on the edge the way a true entertainer should be.

I think if Eric Church wanted to do this he should have informed the fans on what kind of show it would be. He should already know what the fans are expecting out of him and to completely change it up without warning doesn't seem fair to the fans. I mean after all his fans are the reason he is still playing large crowds. Well maybe not anymore.

I have seen him preform 4 times and soon will be 5. I have never seen the same show twice from this guy and honestly that to me is what makes him special. Something I heard earlier this week is that people were FKG LIVID because his performances were different than they had expected like people got up and walked out and kept bitching. But I didn't see the videos til now obviously. But the thing is that those people that were outraged about his set, clearly have no idea who they paid to watch lmao. He's not a fan of doin what people want and if someone tells him he has to do something he's going to go on the complete opposite side of the spectrum and do the opposite and however he wants lol. He doesn't have to answer to anyone anymore so he don't. He uses every opportunity as a creative piece and a manifest of art he could care less about playing his songs how people want him to lol that's one reason why I admire him as an artist lol

Stopped being a fan when he cancelled a show last minute and screwed his fans to watch a basketball game. IT showed whar he truly thought about his fans who had already used up vacation days, paid for tickets, airfare, and hotels. It was his right to cancel the show, but also the right of the fans to be upset they lost money on the cancelled show. Luckily I wasn't one of them, but feel really bad for those screwed over. Part of hos prefession as an entertainer is to be entertaining and he again shows he cares more about trying to be cutting edge and not hoving his fans what they want to see. Suprised his head still fits through the bus entrance. Again his perogative to do what he wants to do, but would hope he would care a little about the fans in the process.

Watched a video of the set at stagecoach and was at CMAFest. Had seen him 2xs before that. Cancelled my fan club membership as he was smug, almost no interaction but to say he could play all night and walk off the stage shortly after. His ego seems to drive his shows.

I think he could have done this in the middle of his set. Do 4 songs then come back with the band again. Some bands I love know how to make it different but make it enjoyable for fans. I seen tragically hip they played there new stuff and old stuff during the middle they did a little acoustic set then they came back with the band. It was awesome. I've seen Bob Dylan and it was awesome the songs arrangement was a little different but that's who Bob Dylan is. Some bands are better at creating a set then others.

Wonder why he didn’t just do a great live show like his live cd. If it isn’t broke . But then he’s always Ben different and mouthy . Sometimes even saying stuff about other singers. He can be his own worst enemy. The fans come first! They pay the bills . He needs to see this.just my opinion.

Eric Church’s shows are not like this. They are a 3-4 hour nonstop unique experience with some acoustic, covers, band, remixes, etc. I think Eric was trying to make a point with the festival crowd. Hes not a Jelly Roll, and has never tried to be popular. Hes the chief. He is trying to insert what he sees as a “country music Jesus to save us all”

My take was ok this is really cool and creative….but, when are you going to end it and play… it never happened and that was largely disappointing considering the venue…. having said that his performance would have been more appropriate for Coachella…. which is a more creative crowd.
I do see Stagecoach gradually shifting to less mainstream and more creative, so for the country purists Stagecoach will be a mixed bag for you going forward… and maybe that’s ok

Clearly the folks complaining aren’t true fans is what it is. I’ve been to several of his concerts everyone of them was different over the years. You wouldn’t see Garth Brooks selling out a stadium and play non stop with no opening bands from 8pm till well past midnight and do that 2 nights in a row. Eric Church is the GOAT and he’s one of many you have to appreciate the artist if you don’t like him go get you a beer and move on

Nah, I was there and it was not what we expected to see or hear. His choir sang beautifully and I love me some church music, however, he was mostly singing gospel music and not his hits. This is not a 100,000 fan headlining Stagecoach-worthy performance standard. It should've been an earlier set. Jelly Roll was on fire before him and was 1,000 times better and livelier. It was so sleepy that a huge amount of people walked over to Nickelback and it was rocking over there.

Chiefs tour last summer was f’ing brilliant!!! I look back at the shows I got to attend last summer and still feel the same emotions a year later that I felt when I saw them live so that speaks volumes how good it was. If you can’t appreciate the fact an artist takes a chance to try something different then you don’t understand how a creative mind works….constantly trying to reinvent itself. Kudos to Eric for having the balls to tackle his set time in the fashion that he did, I wish I was able to see it to enjoy it.

Stagecoach is not where you do experimental music sets. It’s where you’re trying to gain a following so play the music that people know and be interactive on stage. That was a ridiculous set for a closer at Stagecoach.

  • @buchsusarvtrip
    @buchsusarvtrip 14 дней назад +2

stop it, stop it. This was arrogant and self centered plain and simple. Peeps pay huge money to see and hear his hits and see an interactive performance at a festival!! he did not even talk to the crowd for an hour I hear. I left after 15 minutes of gospel songs. If he wants to push boundaries as an artist-fine: announce a new record w specifics and then people have a choice to buy it or not. You dont do what he did which is why droves of people left. Wont go see him ever again. It was not his concert but a festival!!! Country Festival. It was horrible.
