When you agree to open for another group, be respectful and do what you’re hired to do. Don’t be a jerk.
You are talking about something that happened years ago
@@WoodyRides Even that, it's valid for today.
@@pauIlo I bet you hound you spouse about something they did years ago to.
@@WoodyRides I started to listen to Rascal recently, so RUclips was recommending this video everywhere, a coincidence that I was searching for Eric Church, I noticed that he was involved with Rascal Flatts on this video, I just went to check, and I didn't think Eric was disrespectful.
Never seen Eric Church in concert, but have seen Rascall Flatts. When you are opening act you should have the decency to be on time. Him being 90mins late cuts into R F show time. Eric is scheduled for a certain amount of time so that the headliner can get their full show time in. Afterall a concert is only 3 hrs. total with about 30 mins for take down of one and set up of the other.
Can’t blame them for firing him. That’s totally disrespectful.
I lived where Church is from & was working at the local newspaper & he was to do a podcast. I met him & just from my experience meeting him, he was not nice & just literally didn't want to be bothered with his shades on & his limo. I wasn't impressed. He seemed very in to himself & big headed.
Lol Eric an Toby Keith should hang out together. I’m sure they both would have a blast. Toby I always thought was cool till I seen how he acts to the fans in public off the stage. I guess every class of music has its circle jerks lol .
I'm not gay in any way shape or form ,but dude takes his shades off homeboy gotta case of ugly ,..
@@scott643 how did he act???
@@Jason-si8iu like a pompous asshole that’s a good description. He ( Toby) had some young fans approach him an ask if he could give them an autograph. They had kids there that was glad to see him because of his celebrity status. He talked down to them , acted like an idiot to them , and turned those smiles those kids had completely off. That’s how he acted . He might go on and forget them but the way they remember him is transferred to anyone one they talk to about him . I live around real close the parts where he lives and anyone that’s met him all have the same kind of story of their encounters with him. His restaurant in downtown Okc is a place most everyone around here has been too. And anyone of them that’s come across his Plath all have the same kind of story about how rude , and how he treated them . Everyone of these people I’m speaking of wouldn’t waist any of their money going to one of his shows , eat in his restaurant again or watch any of his videos. No class
His sunglasses are prescribed to him. Lighting has something to do with it but I don't know what it's called but he doesn't wear them inside to be a douchebag. I am only speaking on the comment about his sunglasses but I wasn't there to see how he acted.
I'm not a big Rascal Flatts fan, but that was totally disrespectful. He was trying to make his Waylin Jenning rebel image more than anything.
Waylon
Jennings
Waylin Jenning ????? Now that's disrespectful !
Eric church is a liberal prodigy. I never liked his music. Never will. He will never be a Waylon Jennings.
@@williammills8953 I 100% agree he will never be like Waylon. Ironically, the only song I like of his is one about another liberal prodigy. Can't say I'm super proud of it
When this story first came out it was like Church was a member of the group and was “fired”, not that he was “fired” from the tour. I’m glad you covered this and straightened it out. I knew that I had no memory of Eric Church ever being a member of Rascal Flatts.
Uhhhh derrrrrrrrrr!!
Church is not to nice. Not country
This is such old and forgotten news. Thanks for dredging it up like it happened yesterday.
This isn't being "cool". To have that tour at that stage in his career it really should have been something he was extremely gracious for. Folks true colors shine through but its up to you to believe them. It doesn't matter if you like Rascal Flatts or not...its flat out disrespect and purposefully done. NOT COOL
There are almost certainly three sides to this story (like every argument): Rascal Flatts’ side; Eric Church’s side; and the Truth.
Thats not a hard and fast rule.
Some times, there are only two sides to a story the side telling the truth and the side lying.
Both people (sides) are not necessarily lying. That is a bit nonsensical.
It’s not that any of them are lying. But each one is telling “their” truth.
When your an opener you do what your told and do it !! Especially to the biggest country stars at that time
Ughhh. Unless your Eric Church! It’s pretty obvious it worked out in the end for Eric..

Don’t get me wrong.. I LOVE Church’s music.. it’s legendary.. However, we saw him in March and he was an hour and a half late starting.. when he finally came on stage he didn’t say anything about being late. It really rubbed me the wrong way. An hour and a half late is significant and I felt like he should at least have said he was sorry or explained why they were so behind
He's almost always an hour and 20 minutes late for his shows. No respect for anyone's time but his own. Idc how many tickets are scanned at the time. (People show up later because everyone knows he's always around an hour and a half late.) If your show is scheduled for 7, then you go on around 7. People may have to work the next day. Other people don't seem to cross his mind. 🙄
FYI, he waits until a certain % of tickets are scanned before coming out, don’t blame him, blame the people waiting to get there.
I’ve seen him 10 times in concert, each concert had their own feel. I was at his concert at the Nashville stadium, and I was at his concert in Pittsburgh when most of his band had Covid, he is the best entertainer!
Boo f’n hoo
@@missypitts4135If you actually read my post, you'd see that I already addressed that ridiculousness. He was showing up an hour and a half late long BEFORE covid and he'll probably still be doing it long after. "Blame the people waiting to get there?" Are you kidding me?😳🙄🤦🏻♀️ No. He's the artist. If the show is *SCHEDULED* to start at 7:00, then you start sometime around 7:00. He doesn't need to wait 'until a certain number of tickets are scanned.' 🙄 That's not an excuse whatsoever. He's the ONLY artist I've ever been aware of that consistently 99% of the time starts an hour and a half freaking after he's scheduled to go on.
(Ever think some people show up late now because they know that 99% of the time he's going to start an hour and a half late??) You think each show had its own feel? What does that have to do with anything?? Literally nothing. 🙄 Whatever unique feel you think each show has, I guarantee you the one thing they have in common is that they all started around an hour and 20 minutes late. 🤦🏻♀️ Absolutely not. You start ON TIME. If someone shows up late for the show then that's on them if they miss some songs. It's ridiculous. *People have lives. People have kids to get home to, babysitters to relieve and jobs to get to the next day.*
What excuse does he have for the Rascal Flatts situation? Showing up late and not stopping at the appropriate time costing them thousands of dollars? Can't use the old 'waiting for tickets to be scanned excuse on that one.' 👍 ( Or why he's so drunk during some of his shows causing them to be an utter disappointment and definitely not worth the ticket cost? Can't make sure you're sober for 3 freakin hours? 🙄🤦🏻♀️)
My 'hobby' used to be traveling and attending shows. I had friends in the industry who would hook me up at times. I've been to hundreds of various shows over the course of my lifetime. Again, he's the ONLY artist I know of that starts around an hour and 20 minutes late for 99% of his shows. Give me a break. Start showing up on time and people will learn to be there around the time listed. Like I said, if someone misses some songs that's part of the natural consequences of showing up late. What would happen if you showed up for work everyday an hour and 20 minutes late? You think that would fly?
You don't put people out like that. Especially when they're paying to see you. It's irresponsible, rude, and inconveniences a lot of people. Unacceptable.
@@MrHabitat009 Thank you for your input
Here's the thing. As the opening act you are employed which means you have a boss. RF took the time to explain to him why time limits are so important. And to be nice enough to add time at beginning only to have him show late and then go over 20min definitely shows a lack of respect. Can't blame them from firing him.
Hiring Swifty to replace him however is another question all together. I would take talent over punctuality every time personally speaking. 😆
Are you kidding me? TS has written or co-written almost ALL of her own music. EC has 17 to his name. Maybe refocus your idea of talent, he can also barely stay on pitch live.
@@westyw.4235 I'm no fan of either artist. But given the choice of which I would prefer to see live it would hands down be Eric Church. There is only so many break up songs a person can take in one sitting. Perhaps if I were a 14yr old girl I would feel differently.
Fair point. I will claim not giving him enough attention to make a definitive evaluation. The fraudulent "bad boy" image, wearing sunglasses everywhere, etc just makes me sick. I got into TS bc my ex's kids worshipped her at the time.
@@westyw.4235 In all fairness regarding the sunglasses. He has an eye problem and the glasses are medically prescribed.

His first 3 albums is definitely some of the best country music in recent years
INDEED!
If church is rebel country then dan and shay are death metal. Ain’t nothing rebel or homemade about church
Eric Church is not country. The guy is a liberal wanna be outlaw.
Interesting story. Not long after that, he was fired from Bob Seger’s “Face the Promise” tour for the exact same reason.
Ohh!
Wow!!! Saw Bob Seger in a horrible thunderstorm and he was awesome and there for the duration!!! Amazing!!!! If he dumped EC as well, that further cements my view on the arrogance and disrespect of Eric Church!! Love the voice….but not enough to give him a pass on ugly behavior!!
And look now who's still playing ,we love all y'all thankyou for the music 🎵
Well, I agree with their decision to fire him as his behavior was disrespectful to Rascal Flatts, The Crew who gets the stages set up and to the people who paid money to come see the headliner. Definitely A-hole behavior from Eric Church.
Be glad when a headliner takes you on. Headliners paid their dues, do the same. It's the way it works.
Bro its just rascal flats bunch of dorks
It was not Church’s tour. The majority of fans were there to see Rascal Flatts. Now, that Church is the closer I bet he has rules for his opening act.
The first time I heard EC I was all in…I LOVE his music. My view of him changed when I saw him at Red Rocks a few years ago. We weren’t informed he was playing acoustic without his band, and I was really looking forward to the energy rock vibe that he is known for. We enjoyed the show for what it was worth but what turned me off is that he didn’t interact with the audience at all. This was a time to really connect with the audience on a more intimate level and it was almost like he didn’t want to be there. I’m trying not to let that experience taint my love for the music, but image is important at the end of the day. Kinda bummed…my bubble has burst.
Never meet your heros, you'll be disappointed
@Benjamin Liles 👍 , u know , even if he had enough money to last a life time? If there’s no respect ?, at the end of the day?, there’s really nothing worth having. Eric doesn’t have much respect cause that’s something an artist I’m thinking should earn from the people that watch an listen to their show. Interactions with the fans is a big deal. It really is the difference between a smile when looked back on ? Or a forgotten talent. I guess what I’m trying to say is for what it worth? Life isn’t much more than the marks u make along a path. If there not deep enough to make an impression ? the legacy of that life won’t live to far past it’s time.
How an artist treats the audience says everything. They are nothing but a lonely singer on a beach without the audience.
Never meet a liberal

Wow.. I never knew if any artist or opening act goes passed their time on stage, that they will be charged label fees. See there's a lot we don't know that goes on behind the scenes. It's not all perfect or glamorous in the entertainment world.
Same at festivals artist gets charged if they go over their time slot. All venues have to be done by the time it’s paid for they go over the venue charges them.
@@lophan9125 As well as some artists have to pay to play especially festival venues.
There are a ton of people behind the scenes making the show work, and they're all getting paid by the hour, union scale. And of course, venue rental is for a set amount of time. And then if it's an outdoor venue in any kind of populated area, there are ordinances regarding noise that absolutely require that the show be over by a certain time, or fines will be issued, so a show that starts late will have to be cut short.
@@rikosborne1212 Wow... I forgot all about the behind-the-scenes workers. One of my buddies was working in wardrobe, out here in Vegas, at a show, behind the scenes before. It's a lot that goes into a show.

Totally love both these acts. Saw Eric Church in concert and he was fantastic. I lost complete respect for him when he blamed the NRA for the lunatic who shot up the Jason Aldean concert in Las Vegas. It was at that moment he revealed himself as a lefty liberal.
Yup. That was really disappointing.
😂😂😂😂
I never have thought Eric Church was all that good myself. But many people disagree with me and that's okay.
This is not the first incidence about Eric Church being disrespectful of other artist. I had enough of him when the story came out about his hissy-fit over Garth Brooks being nominated (and winning) continuously for CMA awards. His attitude and ego is much better suited for a rock and roll stage instead of country music.
Garth shouldn't have won't that year. He just put out an album right before that award show and won. He shouldn't been nominated until the following year. It was rigged and Eric was pointing that out.
You call that a hissy fit ?🤣
@@johnray3927 Give me a break.🙄 EC has the maturity of a toddler. No respect for anyone's time and God forbid if he gets jealous or can't go to a basketball game. The only thing EC was 'pointing out' once again, is that he's a self centered a**hole. Name one EC show that didn't start around an hour and a half late. He doesn't give a crap if another band gets charged fees, if his fans are put out by his starting an hour and a half late because they have kids and have to work the next day, or even if people lose hundreds of dollars in lost wages, non-refundable hotel rooms, and gas. The so-called free show he's putting on is in a dinky little 5600 capacity venue. Not one that would hold the 19,000 people he canceled on. Whining about someone else winning an award or being chosen for the voice just cements what I've said.

Rascal Flatts you never hear negativity. Eric Church seems always to have a problem with other artists, Venues, & Record labels. Sounds like attitude issues !!!!
Eric Church is a modern-day Waylon Jennings. Giving the finger to the establishment. Rascal Flatts is more pop than country. He may have been disrespectful but he is true country music, which is good in the today’s country scene. There’s a room for everyone. Good luck to both
Couldn't agree more. I don't think Rascal Flatts country.
He's a liberal
I’m sorry but church is just as far away from true country music as Rascal Flatts is. They may fall under the country genre, have good story telling lyrics and have a slightly dated sound. But they are no true country music. One could say church is more pop rock than country, but that’s only if you listen to the radio songs. Same goes for rascal Flatts. Heck they even have a bluegrass song.
When RF started their music was more country/bluegrass. I seen them early in their success. Unfortunately young people today don't want traditional country, they want pop like Taylor Swift so bands have to adjust to stay relevant. Country is NOT country anymore.
Nah... He has some pop songs. Don't act like modern pop country is anywhere close to Waylon. He is closer to TSwift than Waylon. By FAR.

Why would Eric Church agree to be an opener in the first place? Isn’t he a big enough name on his own? Sounds like his ego is certainly big enough.
Well it was 2006, church’s first album came out that summer, so he wasn’t really a big name yet when the Flatts asked him to open. I can’t remember the details but I knew people that he lost as fans for his performance at jones county fair in Iowa around 2015 ish. I think it was similar that he was late , very in engaging , seemed like he didn’t want to be there and cut show short etc
I saw Alabama back in the 90’s. They had that same attitude like they had better places to be rather than putting on a concert.
Never bought another album of theirs after that. Very disappointing.
I could not tell you the name of one of Eric church's songs. And I live in Nashvegas.
I just think it's a total shame that the money and control game has to infiltrate everything, including music. Seems nothing is sacred from fighting about it anymore. And you better believe that the machine who owns them both just loves the fighting.
And that’s why a songwriter wrote, “If I Were the Devil.” Aaron Lewis, former lead vocalist of early 2000’s Alternative Metal band Staind, does a cover of it.
I have worked in the Entertainment Industry for several years and there are certain rules that are observed. Your word is your bond and People talk. If you are the Opening Act, you are not the Headliner. They are paying you to open for them and not the other way around. If you feel like it is too much, then swallow your pride, respect your contract and take your earnings and book a solo tour next season. If you continue to do something you were asked not to you WILL be sent home. It doesn't matter if you are the Opening Act, the Guitar Tech, Front of House Engineer or the Production Roadie that won't stop pooping on the Tour Bus...your going home and it WILL be talked about and you just may not be getting that phone call to Tour next season. It is a privilege and an honor to work on Tour in this profession and you need to act like it. Otherwise get a job rolling road cases or playing in the local dive bar. Don't be a punter.
RF was the start of country music demise.
Nah, that started in the 70s, then later got kicked into overdrive when songs like “fancy” by Reba and bands like Alabama started impacting radio, adding pop and rock with country.

As controversial as it may be... I have never been a fan of Eric Church, I like a handful of his songs but his stance on the Second Ammendment a few years ago and his demeanor have never impressed me. I wish him continued success but this isn't surprising at all.
Cracks me up when people call rule-followers "sheep." Usually, that type of person is all about breaking rules in the name of "freedom" until someone smashes up their chosen set of standards and rules. Every one needs to follow some rules in life for people to be able to live. To equate being rude, not following rules and not really caring how your choices impact anyone else with true freedom or a person's talent seems really kind of dumb. I agree with the other comments that say it doesn't really matter what one thinks about either group/person's talent. Talent was NOT the issue.
I would just like to see more artists like the guys in The Highwayman in country music today. Country music needs guys like Eric Church. Maybe someday guys like Eric Church, Luke combs and Chris Stapleton will form a super group….
Eric Church is a liberal not a rebel.
Being the opening act you have to follow rules and sound like Eric didn't believe he had to so they let him go
I have always thought Eric Church thinks he's all that. Really inflated ego.
All seems very reasonable.
While EC is very talented, he is also very full of himself and cocky, I hope he realizes that his fame is fleeting and can vanish overnight. His time in the spotlight is not forever.
Crazy to think about
Half the crowd left after Eric’s performance anyway!!!!!
can understand their point on "time limits" everything costs money .... even "time limits."
I don't know Church. But Rascal Flatts is the group I have been to see many times. I never pay to see a group multiple times. But with them I do........

his whole vibe is extreme arrogance and ego.
the funny thing is he and his fans think he is outlaw country but honestly a lot of his stuff is pretty mainstream, just because it's not bro country doesn't make it outlaw.

Eric is from the small town adjacent to mine.. so he’s a pretty big deal around here.. but I’ve just never been a fan. I love COUNTRY, but that’s not what I hear in his music. All the songs sound similar.. like AC/DC and Kenny Chesney 😂.

Not to mention at the time of Eric's firing, he had released "Two Pink Lines" as the second single from "Sinners Like Me". That song stirred up controversy with radio listeners, because of its subject matter of teenage pregnancy.

Garth Brooks nerds disrespected. He is the biggest hypocrite in country music!#! Can't stand him...
Never heard of him! Don't care for anyone with that kind of attitude.
Eric Church reaps what he sows….he’s combative, doesn’t approach things with humility and understanding. Needs an attitude adjustment. Sorry, Eric😢
He's doing better than rascal flatts.
Mainstream bullspit didn't slow Eric down
I’m not a RF fan. I absolutely love Eric Church.
I can't listen to them. They have never had a song that I felt while hearing it. They just got this cheesy vibe to them and boring to me. Now Eric Church does have a personality that comes off as douchey and don't care for him as a person but he has music that you feel deep down in your soul and I listen to a person's music and don't pretend he's my best friend and his personality affects me personally. He puts on a great show and started 20 minutes late but I have been to probably over 50 concerts in my life and never had one start early or on-time. I have been stuck in concert traffic for hours at a time so I appreciate when the show gets delayed a little. If I know I can't be out passed a certain time or have to work early the next morning I just don't go and ppl who make plans knowing they have to be home at a certain time should know not to go to a concert. Amateurs I guess! Lol
@@19holly19 I listen to Rascal Flatts, since a time, I don't enjoy every song though. I didn't see Erich as disrespectful.
Rascal Flatts has always been the Nancy boys of country music
What part of respect don’t you understand? Church acting like a punk is not acceptable
Singer is horrible
Eric Church is obviously a great musician/entertainer/singer, but seems angry a lot about something or maybe just oppositional defiant about something/issue??? One thing I find very interesting about Church is when is he part of a tribute set, to another great artist being recognized, is how he does his tribute song, only like Eric Church will sing it, with not as much similarity to the Original???
I was at one of the shows and the whole crowd was chanting for church to keep playing.... so maybe rascal really wasnt happy with being showed up🤷♂️. Because the crowd was definitely louder and more involved woth church on the stage
I used to like EC, but when he started advocating to delete my and every other US citizen’s 2nd Amendment rights, I deleted him, and all his music from my library. If you don’t want to exercise your right, cool, but stay off mine.
Just from listening to church in other conversations and watching his actions he seems to be an entitled little punk who thinks like most his age and his success.
After listening to Country music for 65 years I left completely. Havent turned on a country channel or bought any music because of Eric Church. He may be talented but his personal views are un-American and will eventually destroy what country music stands for,
I went to school with Rascal Flatts front man Gary. Olentangy HS. Delaware, Ohio.
ERIC CHURCH NEVER NEEDED TO OPEN FOR ANYBODY! THIS INFORMATION DOES NOT CHANGE OR MAKES ERIC CHURCH LOOK BAD OR LESS THAN. HE IS A GREAT ARTIST. PERIOD.
Maybe he is his own show, BUT when u agree to open for a group it only common courtesy to follow poetical. If you feel u are past being an opening act, then dont sign up for it.
This ain't new. Eric's been saying this for years.
🤘🏻Gang Gang 🤘🏻
Eric Church is country music and Rascal Flatts is pop music. Eric Church being Rascal Flatts opening act is like Tom Brady being Drew Bledsoe’s back up.
If rascal Flatts isn’t country neither is church. They are BOTH pop country/country rock/modern contemporary country. I’ve honestly heard more convincing country/bluegrass stuff from the Flatts than church.
The fans got a huge boost if they got to see Swift instead of Church. Talk about an opener that could steal the show.
I love Eric church ge never disappoints. Coming from a granite falls native thank you Eric!
He a freakin Wussie and a wanna be. He has no balls.
Sooooo they fired Eric Church because he was stealing the show, makes sense. Mr. Misunderstood, I Understand!!!
If that was the case they wouldn’t have given the opportunity to go on early so he could still have more time….
If he was doing that he would be the main event not the opening act.
