I am a watercolor artist & have wanted to play with oils. The breakdown of values is very helpful.

It already reads as a landscape of trees foreground midground and background

Laurel, how do you make your simple landscapes look like they are more complete than busy, complicated works. I hope you understand what I’m saying.

There are plenty of brands of synthetic brushes that mimic hog birstle quite sufficiently.

I like my Rosemary & Co. Ivory synthetic bristles. Beautifully made. They come in specializes shapes, besides typical shapes. Long flat, and I just ordered Ivory Daggers. I get them (2021-22) from Wind River Arts, in Texas.

Colors that fade are “fugitive”. Effort had been made to fix that.
