Thank you, Richard, for sharing such indepth videos of your palette knife technique of painting from start to finish. I am a beginner artist. You inspire me. Some day, come to Canada west coast BC or Rockies.
You are really good Richard . No matter what you paint with that pallet knife. I really enjoy your videos. You are really good. That painting, smoke in the distance, plus all the little details-beautiful.. You always do a VERY good narrative at the end which is very informative…. I’ve learned a lot…… Thanks
He made such an embarrassing mess until the last ten minutes when he rescued the whole thing to make it become magnificent with fine details. My medium is water colour but, oil has tremendous properties I love to work with too and will again some day. Inspirational! . Genius work, genius.
Hello Richard The best part of your new masterpiece is the barn, which is simply gorgeous, where you can once again see what a magnificent genius you are Many kind regards, Andrea and Günter
Hi Richard! Great, great video! Love this painting and find your method here fascinating! Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Also, thank you so much for your kindness and showing my son and his friend a memorable time at your studio! They really love their paintings and have so enjoyed meeting you! Your paintings are a daily delight that we treasure! 🤗
I am exciting to see the fantastic painting you are doing. Love your technique. Each painting is my favorite, couldn't choose one from your collection..,!
Always pleasant watching you majestically move paint around and applying it to board or canvas. Nice study of light, capturing the myriad of its filters.
Watching you paint, Richard, truly remarkable to see you using something other than a paintbrush and getting wonderful results. I love the painting… Good work!!! The eye of an artist is a gift from God… My daughter is an artist and I hope one day she starts painting again… too busy working with fabric! Thank you for my Saturday night entertainment!
Hi Richard. Great sense of depth to this painting. With the lighter colour values in the forground. Realistic with your abstract feel to it. Wonderful.Jim from England. 😊
Can't agree more... it's a great demonstration of colour control to achieve such depth value and tone... Enjoy watching the whole way through...loving it...
Love your work Richard especially the way you start in the opposite foreground first and then work back to the sky! I have also used beeswax in the past and found that beeswax will shrink as it dries so you may end up with way more 'unwanted' curling and texture in painting if the ratio to paint is tipped more on the wax side. Still great piece and engaging commentary.
Love this one Richard, I really love the way you handled the smoke in the distance. It reminds me of Mt Macedon near home with the wood burning fire heater letting off smoke into the hills.
You've captured the feeling of the Aussie rolling hills in this! And enjoyed how quickly you achieved a complex and accurate portrayal of the different types of trees. And first 4K video!?🎥 👏 Wonderful shots too.
Nice!!! It's amazing how all these little marks up close just looks like little marks until you zoom out and oh my goodness- It's a masterpiece! You are amazing. Love the vest and hat too. Very debonair. That white little building/house with the yellow wildflowers in front of it is the focal point for me. I know you said the yellow was the sun reflecting but I see wildflowers and I love it! That's what makes Art so wonderful, it is interpreted differently by different eyes. Gorgeous work.
That’s just plain beautiful Richard. I paint with acrylics( have thought about trying h20 oils), but I’ve learned so much from watching you work. I’m not a youngster any more but you’re never too old to learn right !!!! Love that new studio, makes my little corner downstairs look a bit pedestrian. Rock on Richard.👨🎨🇦🇺🦘
Amazing colour mixing techniques.. It's a true joy to see you paint with unique colour schemes... Your work is excellent and different May Allah bless you Thank for sharing your colour palette .
👋Greetings, Richard, and thank you for another gorgeous landscape painting. I love the buildings in the foreground and the smaller ones scattered throughout the area. Wonderful colors, the yellows really lead the eye into the depths of this work of art without disturbing the eye, that is, they draw the eye in but don't hold it in place. The background looks beautiful too. I could wander through this painting for hours. You have an excellent eye for nice motifs, Richard. I wish you a wonderful weekend❤
BIG fan from the Netherlands , looking forward to every new painting... absorbing this way of painting with oil which gives such striking vivid landscapes. Chapeau!!
Incredible! I tried my first knife painting! Love this-I’m not that good……yet…….but love the knife! The textures are incredible! Thank you for this lesson!
Absolutely stunning ! Your painting is always so fantastic, I love it. It's incredible how you manage to transport us to your different landscapes, as if we were there. Well done Richard 👏👏😊
Wow! What a beautiful painting! I totally love this one, very well done Richard! The subject matter reminds me of places I have seen here in the California countryside. Seriously, this is so nice!
BEEEEZE. WAX !!! What what what ??? Oy my goodness. So I've got to go. Can't watch this yet. (Busy day and all). I'll save this one for later on. "For Sure." Wow ! See you back a little later on. Whooo Wee! ~~~ New Hampshire here. 🇺🇸. 💥. 🇦🇺.
G'day Richard, crikey this rural scene is probably my favourite of all your rural studies. You have created quite the 'buzz' with that bees wax too, puts a sting into the scene. Close up, the paint looks buttery, great smooth texture in the foreground field. Best of all though, what incredible depth the scene has, some great learning offered here for those that want to learn. Once again the Master Illusionist has created a masterclass of taking a board, adding some paint and delighting the eye. Really enjoyed this one mate, cheers Rich
Again, magic with a knife. Bees wax, makes sense, however, you seem to have product available in your neck of the woods that I’ve never seen in Canada. Love your work.
Richard you are so good with the luscious chunky paint! Can’t get enough. And now you’ve introduced bees wax! It seems even more chunky (and perhaps more matte?) How does the cured paint & wax compare with cured plain paint? Do you varnish?
Your knowledge of colors is excellent. Personally, I love pthalo blue because of its versatility. Ultramarine, I find to be too icey. Prussian is terrific with crimson to make a deep dark.
I love watching you work. What canvas are you painting on? It seems more solid than a stretched canvas. You also seem to have a different surface for your palette. I have been using glass for my palette but am wondering if there is a better option.
Your paint looks drier oh I see you premixed the wax into your paint. Love the painting and the overall size. I was wondering how the gallery/studio is doing for selling your artwork. I know you can't walk about all the time but I enjoy the sea and canoe ride to see what is around you for landscape inspiration.
How would one know how long the beeswax would last before cracklure? I have never liked palette knife painting. It looks too commercial. But you are really good at it and this painting looks great. Bravo!
I love your videos you take! Your knife paintings are beautiful and it’s enjoying to watch you paint. Would it be ok if I painted some of your video clips?
Beautiful !it's as much fun to watch you put these together as it is to just appreciate the works themselves!
Grandioso ! Me hace soñar. Muchísimas gracias!😊❤

QUESTION-What is the % of wax to paint in your mixture? It looks like you use more than 50% wax? Beautiful work!
It’s around 30% beeswax!
