Magazines operate under umbrella companies. Vogue and GQ are separate magazines owned by Conde Nast. Mode and Sophia's magazine are both owned by Mead, which is the company that Daniel's family owns. Also, fun fact that you might not know, "Ugly Betty" is the American version of a Columbian telenovela called "Yo soy Betty, la fea"

Fun fact: The girl with the glasses in the MYW scenes was played by Becki Newton, who also played Amanda (the receptionist at Mode).
And it wasn't the only time that Becki Newton played a dual role in Ugly Betty. She also played the younger version of Amanda's late birth mum in a flashback sequence in an episode further down the line.

Sofia (Selma Hyak) is also a producer for the whole series, and she plays a character in all the Telenovela's that Betty's family watches. Just a few seconds here and there in several episodes. I heard she had an essential role in getting the series brought to the USA. It's based on a Colombia series.
She doesn't usually get credit as a comedian but she's pretty funny.

Also, also Daniel didn't deserve that. He deserved to be slapped and kicked in the jewels once or twice, but he didn't deserve THAT.

      All right.

I wouldn't say he deserved any of that, he was a playboy but the girls who got with him always knew that, even Amanda admits that she knew he wouldn't commit to her and that it was her fault that she fell in love with him, Sophia presented herself as someone genuine and actively worked to make him fall in love with her.

The reason why Daniel's clothes look weird is because it's part of his character that he's bad with fashion, btw, so is Betty, it's kind of what they bond over, they're both outsiders at Mode, tough in different ways, Daniel was a playboy with no interest in the family business (He only gets the job at the magazine because his brother is gone and the former editor in chief died), Betty was just trying to land any job in publishing.
Throughout the show they get better at it and develop their own styles.

You should watch The Good Wife. Its one of if not the best lawyer show and not many people have reacted to it.
Best episode might be "Hitting the fan" but that might be a bit spoilery. "Je Ne Sais What?", Another Ham Sandwich and "Red Team, Blue Team" are other great episodes .
