      @@davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009 I was researching for a new build with a BCA upper, and *so* many people dismiss everything the second that you mention BCA. They're decent, you just have to check everything before you put it together.

      **** UPDATE: westhunter in fact did honor my warranty (finally) ..... the new scope, albeit, same name, magnification, and boxing is a completely different scope, its clear and the paralax adjustment gets me down to about 10 yards where as before my closest shot was clear at about 20 to 25 yards, not a huge issue for powder burners but for an air gunner like myself im happier with the closer range capabilities, the elevation issue is still bad but at this point i just shimmed the back scope ring with a few layers of painters tape, thank you westhunter, i apologize.

    Great job, I am one of those WVA/Southern OH guys. We have a similar saying it goes “I’m to poor to buy cheap quality products “ this is true in everything for me. It’s not always the expensive ones, it’s never the cheapest, but the gem in the middle of a turd pile. I had a 50 power Crimson Trace go bad with locked tourets, in my opinion the first sign of problems to come is locked tourets. But it did last a few years. I then purchased, an ADE 50 power after the salesman, sent me a picture that showed a hard parallax of 500 yards before infinity, when it showed up the max hard parallax was 200 yards. I sent them a message, thinking it was most likely just a mistake, turns out it was a picture of a different model that was the same size, but was illuminated, and had the reticle I was looking for, the Reticle in the one I received was also wrong. I could’ve had the right reticle , the right, hard parallax for a dollar more, their reply to my message was pretty insulting. The guy basically said “ Oops my bad that must be an old picture or a different model. Best of luck.” I then tried to contact their corporate offices via email and was told I would get a reply within eight weeks, PayPal only guarantees a return for 30 days. I sent four more emails and never got a reply sent two more messages on eBay never got a reply Made a phone call left a message never got a reply! Needless to say one of these is on its way today. Hopefully their customer service is better than oops my bad, clearly if you’re shooting three-quarter inch groups they should do the trick. Thank you for a good review! Giving you a follow as well, I prefer the word of a man who is horse, smart, over city, smart any day!

    You and me think alike... I used to have a $50 scope that I can consistently hit a 20"x 25" steel target at 1,000 yards using a 223 Savage BA rifle... Since you use a horse as an idiom, I would say, "Don't buy a $100 horse and expect to win a Kentucky Derby" They do have a place but not other people expect it to be... Good shooting and great review...

    Hey, I've got that exact same scope on my 223 (Savage 12 VLP)! It ain't half bad - I really got it so that I could try out that style of FFP Christmas tree reticle but I was surprised at how decent it is. I wouldn't stick it on a heavy-recoiling gun or a rifle I'm using on a once-in-a-lifetime hunt but it's been working well for me so far battling gophers.

    Good video as always Dave..
    Sometimes we get lucky on a low priced gun part.
    I bought a 6.5 Grendel stainless fluted Bear Creek Arms barrel on sale fir $73.00 that shoots .25 MOA.
    And it shoots that cheap Wolf 100gr ammo real good. Even at 600 yards.

    Don't you love it when your sweetheart gets you something you actually wanted? That means she pays attention. You got yourself a good one there... As far as being a chinese scope; that doesn't mean anything these days, since EVERYTHING is made in china. Including those big name brand scopes we pay big money for. Probably come from the exact same factory.

      Yes, see my Grendel playlist featuring the 120 grain gold dot. This rifle has taken 3 or 4 Bucks all at ranges under 200 yards. Chest shots expect a 20 -40 yard run off on whitetail deer. High shoulder shots, usually drop immediately. Congrats on your rifle choice.

    Rings come with scope? I'm always trying to mount the bell as low as possible above the bbl with minimal clearance (1/8" or less). Of course it's not as critical on a hunting configuration vs target.

    • @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009
      @davestrohmeyer-saddleupsho8009  2 года назад

      Agreed. My personal preference on a MSR is a higher set up. Most hunting here is spot and stock, so while shouldering a rifle for a standing off hand shot, my scope and eye alignment is in line with the rifle coming up instead of my head canting downward. MSR's don't have a dropped comb like my traditional hunting rifles with a Monte Carlo cheek piece and straighter palm swell. On those rifles I have medium rings.

    Yeah I get a kick out people talking down cheaper scopes when they have a eight or nine hundred dollar bushnell on their rifle. Hell twenty years ago you where to show up a deer camp with a bushnell you would have got laughed at. They where the cheapest junk you could find. It’s not what it cost it’s what it does.

      Times change. 40+ years ago the Bushnell/ Banner series of scopes had their glass made and scopes made by Bausch and Lomb and Konica Minolta (High end Camera makers) of Japan and indeed were very high quality and hand assembled and the first to introduced Nitrogen purged tubes, using brass air tight washers instead of plastic Even the Japanese made Tasco scopes were very good. I still own and have never replaced both the Japanese made Banner and Tasco scopes.

    Would I want to go to war with this scope…? Probably not…but as we saw in the first days of Ruzzias attack on Ukraine: in a pinch you have to make due with what you got. And fair dinkum, considering the price, what you get with this scope is good enough!

      The best Chinese made scope today for the money is probably the Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 for $500 to $600. Athlon has a no B.S. lifetime warranty.
