Big thank you to stacy david, he's 100% correct this build started it all. Much love. I remember watching this build as a kid with a dream to restore my own rusty C10.
Turned on PlutoTV tonight and they were playing trucks. The whole copperhead build was on there. At the very beginning of the build I was like "Is that copperhead!?" Then I told my girl about how it was gonna get a 572 and she was like "how do you know about this truck?" lmao. I haven't seen or even thought of this truck in over 15 years, but I remembered it like when I was a kid watching it at my dad's. That's how important copperhead was for the car world. We'd always watch those Saturday car shows and yours was our favorite. So, here I am decided to look up and it's good to see the truck is still around. It was hilarious hearing you brag about the price of the truck how they are easy to find. IIRC, on the original episode you said you bought the (nearly perfect) cab and frame for $500. I laughed pretty hard. In the early 2000s though, that was correct though. There were a good number of them around and people were selling them cheap. Another thing that we always found funny was how you said everything was a "budget build". Coming from a poor family, nothing you did was a "budget build". lmao. At least not our budget. Last thing is I forgot how many simple useful tricks your shows would always have. In the original copperhead truck, you made brackets for the fuel pump and filter. Instead of measuring, you just took a piece of cardboard, laid it over the frame and hammered it to essentially stamp the cardboard. Simple, easy, and did the trick. This took me down memory lane. Thanks for the videos and uploads Stacey!
As a long-time viewer from season 1 of Trucks until today, I've seen many truck/Jeep builds you've done. And I can truly say, at least when it comes to a 2wd street cruiser, this is your signature build. It's timeless, still in style, and still looks as good as it did back when it was first done.
I remember watching this at my dad's house as a young lad.. I've always loved this truck. My dream truck!! One day. When your ready for me to bring my square body over let me know. Ready to do some work on it!!
Loved Trucks as a kid and Gearz now! Copperhead was one of my favorite projects of yours and the payoff was just as amazing! Love watching your shows Stac!
By the way, Stacey thanks for helping kickstart my love for cars and trucks, between Trucks tv and Hot Rod/Horsepower tv with Chuck and Joe back in the late 90’s through the 2000’s when I was just a teenager.
I tuned in every week hoping you would be doing something with copperhead and just found your new show looking for an update on this truck 20 years later. That’s how influential this truck was
This was a big part of why I'm a gearhead. I watched every second of the Copperhead build. Nothing against the guys who came after him but when Stacey left Trucks wasn't the same.
I was probably 5-6 years old when you started this project sitting in my undies on the couch with my dad watching ! It’s still talked about till this day around the house !
I remember this build back on Trucks, and loved it at the time. I also remember you saying it was supposed to be built on a budget the average gearhead could afford. What ended up being the budget for the original Copperhead build?
Stacey, we need more guys like you these days. Out here on RUclips and whatnot. It's really sad to see the direction the modern automobile industry is headed. One can only hope for a future of Ethanol or Hydrogen burning monsters and synthetic plant-based oils. We need to reawaken the gear head mentality.
I heard somewhere that the 572 you originally put in it was gone when you bought it back??? so that means that the engine you have in it isn't the 1st 572 right??
That is incorrect. The original 572 is still in the truck. Whoever built the replica that sold at auction last year likely made up that story to help pass off their truck as the original Copperhead.
@@OfficialStaceyDavid but somehow i remember that you did a video of when you found copperhead after many years that there was a 350 in the truck and the 572 had been removed and used in another vehicle and it was long gone
I thought Copperhead was running brakes from Aerospace Components? Edit: What happened to the footage from Nashville Superspeedway? That's where the crazy long black marks were laid down.
The rear brakes are from Aerospace Components. The footage from Nashville Superspeedway is owned by the company that produced Trucks, so we weren't able to reuse it here.
You lucked out when you got a 572 for the price because all of the big blocks are racing engines now Great scott I think you not being on trucks really lead to the decline of the power train line up on spike tv How many people can afford a big block crate motor these days You went with a straight 6 for that denim jeep upgrade No big block there
People may have wanted to go fast again.. but out future children are going to hate us when they have to stay indoors with air purifiers due to air pollution and unbearable hot weather due to our carelessness
So you think trucks like this are the major cause? It isnt ships, factories, airlines, etc? Let me guess, its the 2 cycle weed eaters and 50cc motor scooters, right??
This is a re-upload of Season 17 Episode 1.

The goal was always to do a top dollar build while also giving plenty of *options* on how to keep it cheap.

Thanks 👍
I first saw the Copperhead build up on Trucks in the early 2000s and loved it loved it. So glad it’s still around and what a legacy.
I remember watching that build back in the day. That’s a truck was born a legend.
Awesome to revisit Copperhead! That truck is timeless!

Glad to see your still at it Stacey, was my favorite truck when I was a kid, still is

I watched every bit of the Copperhead build back when I was a teen or preteen. I still think about this very truck every time I see a C10 now.
I remember weekends on TNN watching this beauty go from concept to reality...such a beautiful truck then, still one hell of a beauty today.
The truck that started it all for me as a kid. 😅
I was 14 watching this every weekend and I just had a blast but lm missing captain crunch now!
This was a big part of why I'm a gearhead. I watched every second of the Copperhead build. Nothing against the guys who came after him but when Stacey left Trucks wasn't the same.
Trucks is pretty much the show that got me into trucks.
I’ve been watching Stacey since 1998/1999 I love seeing old projects show up out of the blue, I hope project Wicked Willys is next.
I was probably 5-6 years old when you started this project sitting in my undies on the couch with my dad watching ! It’s still talked about till this day around the house !
I think a 4x4 copperhead Blazer would be popular. Now that we are older, we need more seats in the hot rods for kids and grandkids.
I'd love to have an old 4 door 40s/50s Plymouth or something like that to turn into a hot rod. The 4 doors are so underrated.
Great that you created an entire truck bed with new parts ordered online.
My childhood right there.
Stacey David Copperhead truck is 💯
I still haven’t seen the final of heavy metal yet wood really love to see it
I remember this build back on Trucks, and loved it at the time. I also remember you saying it was supposed to be built on a budget the average gearhead could afford. What ended up being the budget for the original Copperhead build?
Fantastic video.
It's time for a 632 build
My childhood!
Hi my first vehicle was a 69c-10 it was two tone white top green bottom

Thanks for watching! We're working on it!
I think I see the edit. The previous one had the 2022 Holley Fest lol.
I remember watching the copperhead build, I've been watching them builds for over 20 years. Whatever happened to crazy horse?
I'm not sure. I sold it but lost track of it after it changed hands again.
Still the best C-10 !
Thanks!
I remember watching this and the crazy horse build as a kid made me believe that I could build cool stuff not buy been a diy guy ever sense

The 572 has never been out of Copperhead. My Blazer build from Trucks was parted out after I sold it. Maybe you were thinking of that?
I love Copperhead. Always have. But how is it more influential than Sgt. Rock?
I Am Curious What Was The Title For, The Frame Or The Cab?
And the argument over who really got the first 572 ... Stacey or Jay.
how much would a paint job like that cost

why did you sell it ?

The average gearhead can afford a 572 big block 😂
Stacey, just an fyi some idiot is trying to scam people in the comment section.

I remember watching that build.
