I found Tia via Ryan and am finding you both SO helpful to keep me on track. I’m 10 weeks in on the Slim & Sustain Program and 12lbs down (halfway to my goal) but know that I will follow both your channels as I continue with this lifestyle. Thank you both!!
A fantastic interview with Ryan Adams Tia and it is great that Ryan has helped you and many others to lose weight on a vegan whole plant foods diet. Thanks for clearing up the misconception that you can't get enough protein on a vegan diet. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Ryan and love 💓 Tia.
Thank you David
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@fitwithryanadamsthank you Ryan how lose chocolate craving any thats hard for me. Are there any protein shakes and I'm trying to get in a little more protein is isopure okay unflavored
@@kellybotros8058 I've covered craving tips in a few videos here: www.youtube.com/@fitwithryanadams/search?query=cravings
@@kellybotros8058 sunwarrior have a good range of "clean" protein supplements
@@kellybotros8058 slowly but surely, with consistency, it's amazing how your taste buds adjust! I used to be a chocolate gremlin! Of course, you can use things like cocoa powder and cocoa nibs to give some chocolate flavor to healthy meals, which I have no problem with.
I think the 30g protein per meal thing comes from the fact that your body can't utilize more than that per meal so that's what is recommended so that u can have your protein intake utilized better instead of being stored in fat cells (I'm not a professional and don't know the particular science but i know it's something along those lines). So basically if u were to have 50-60g protein in one sitting it would probably be utilized in the same amount as 30g unless there was more fiber causing it to be slower digesting and have more time to utilize more of the protein if that makes sense. So if u want to have more than 30g, I'd suggest adding some kind of fiber (fruit, veg, etc) & that should help in that way. Even if your body stores excess protein in fat cells, that doesn't necessarily mean that you'll gain weight tho. An excess in any micronutrient gets stored in fat cells and converted into energy later and the overall intake and energy expenditure is what really dictates how much weight u lose or gain in the end.
This has largely been proven untrue, but that was the rumour for many years yes, you are right
@@fitwithryanadams oh I thought I remembered Andrew huberman talking about it, maybe I'm wrong
@@oliviavalentine7775 I have no idea what his take is, I don’t follow him, so you might well be right that he discussed this but that’s not the basis for my view on it.
The general consensus in much of the literature on protein synthesis is that 25g per meal looks pretty good and beyond this it’s futile for tissue repair and growth.
So this is WHY this belief is so popular. HOWEVER…
It’s totally relative to:
- Bodyweight
- How much you train
- Muscle mass, etc.
And that’s why, as I say in the interview, there’s no magic number. Shoenfeld and Aragon (2018) came up with quite a useful formula by factoring some of these variables in, which suggests an “ideal” protein intake per meal, spread over 4x per day to gain muscle. Their estimate is that 0.55g per kg of bodyweight per meal x4 throughout the day. But again, this is to gain muscle, not lose fat.
This is a much better formula than the arbitrary 30g per meal (as Tia mentioned) or 25g as much of the literature references.
Also, that point that any more protein than 25g is futile for tissue repair and growth, does NOT mean that any amount above 25g, in this instance, is futile all together.
This protein can still be converted and used as energy.
Also, the elephant in the room with all of this is: what’s happening to your fat and carb intake whilst deciding how much protein to eat. And as you rightly mentioned, add fiber in the mix and the whole timeline of digestion changes anyway!
So, all of this is why I say that any general rule around protein intake per meal has largely been proven untrue - and that’s for both muscle gain BUT especially fat loss!
So that’s my take.
I'm not losing weight getting frustrated. Please help any info I'm working this program... thank you should I eliminate cashews ranch dressing?? I'm 55 and 168 pds 5 11. Thank you for doing g this program 🙏 ❤️
Eliminate all nuts! And fats when in weight loss mode
