I was at this pageant, and helped with the Sarah Coventry jewellery to accessorize all of the different outfits the girls had to wear. They also got gifts of jewellery and a grand prize of jewellery. I especially remember Donna and Jillian but I also remember 1974,75,76 infact all of the girls in the 1970's but I think I remember Donna and Jillian best because they visited our offices. Fun days.

The first runner up in this pageant was 10,847 times prettier than the winner. Typical Canada........wicked bad.

My mom was in the 1972 pageant, representing Burlington. She said that it was fixed. Donna had photos done with the judges beforehand, and the dresses that she wore following her win were all set apart with her name on them in an office room. My mom along with Miss Hamilton, Miss Oakville and Miss Mississauga, all were sponsored by their cities major newspapers, and all the newspapers were owned by the same person. My mom and all those women made it to the top 10 finalists. She’s sure it was because of who their sponsor was. Oktoberfest was Donna’s sponsor, and she told people that there was lots of money involved, and insisted on wearing her Miss Oktoberfest sash instead of her Miss Kitchener Waterloo one.

I think he looked better with the prematurely grey hair. The dark hair made him look like he was trying too hard to stay young.

I believe one of the ladies who did the co-hosting 4 this pageant was Julie Maloney. (Miss Canada 1970) But who's the other one? All I know is her name is Carol.

Her name could have been Carol or Caroline. There was a Carol McKinnon who was Miss Canada 1968, but there was also Miss Canada 1971 Caroline Commisso. I'm not sure.

How did Donna Sawicky ever win Miss Canada 1972? She was this simple Ukrainian girl who was never talented or pretty. Her talent was "twirling a baton or dancing". Some talent !

She looks like a typical Miss America contestant of that time period.
