7:17 Gives meaning to this. This is what Jesus would do, bless them while calling out the sin and telling them to stay away from it. Hopefully priests follow the same example.

It is very doubtful that the priests will tell the ss couple to stop sinning. What if the priest is also gay? As to the general public looking from afar, or just hearing about the blessing of two ss couple, it will be construed as approval of the union.
Why is a special document required to bless ss people. There is pastoral blessing for all sinners, ss people were already included in this category of blessing.
Anyway Catholic Church is already a apostate church with all its idolatry and pagan practices of non biblical teachings.

Yes, the document is short sided, but it is also directly allowing for blessing irregular 'couples', which is a union of two, which ever way we look at it.
Blessing follows after repentance, the priest should lead them to confession and not blessing. May God change the heart of the Pope in this matter.
Thank you father, but don't you think the priest carrying out the blessing should call out the sin so that the couple can turn to a normal life from abnormalities?

I assume whoever comes to a priest comes for either a blessing or an absolution after sincere confession of sin. Why do people have to come as a couple not individuals received by a preist individually? There is no biblical reason of blessing (whatever type and time ) two people who persistently want to force their sin into looking like holiness. There is no love in condoning sin and just compromising with the prince of this world. Call sin by its name and don't preach only what people want to hear, it will save their lives.
What makes a couple a couple except for the relationship between them?
Accepting them as a couple means accepting the relationship.

There is no new thing in this explanation. It is simply a common rationalization of the declaration. The concept of "blessing of homosexual couples" is still the thorn whether it is liturgical blessing or pastoral blessing.

What is the difference between liturgical and pastoral blessings in terms of power and effectiveness?
With the blessing, ss couple will decide to end their abominable union? Or it will even legitimized their union because the act of blessing two ss holding hands can be seen as approval of the union?
Can we deny that this act is slowly normalizing ss union? We know people will twist things to align with their sentiments.
God did not create a man for a man or woman for woman. Only if they repent and turn from their sin, God will forgive them. Only if they repent and come out of this sin then only there is blessing from God otherwise no. As a Roman Catholic I feel. I saw gay kissing in the public and children watching them. Jesus didn't heal everyone. But He would himself bless everyone and His presence made them repent. He reached out to those shunned by society. Do you really think they would turn and repent without His blessings? Do you really think they didn't deserve His blessings?

Thank you Fr. The issue is that many of us do not see any need for this declaration or see what it takes care of. If indeed it intended to respond to one of the dubia from the cardinals who authored them, the Declaration surely was inadequate and falls short in standard of clarity required from such response. For the first time in my life, I read a church document with difficulty. I was not inspired or edified. I read it as an obligation in order to be able to speak about it. Clarity and distinction are signs of knowledge of the truth. The document was below the standard of clarity and distinction we've always received from official Church documents. No wonder many clerics are burdened and have been busy clarifying and clarifying what the document realy intends, including myself who had to clarify the document's message to a non catholic taxi driver who unknown to me had already listened to a viral broadcast of a catholic Bishop on the matter and confronted my clarificstions with the pronouncements of and questions raised by the same Bishop. The damage done by that document isn't little because it seems ill-timed and appears more like a much ado about nothing. The most grievous negative impact of the Declaration, FS, is the dent on and erosion of the reverence and presumption of authority and clarity on any document coming from the Holy See. May God help us.

Father, I see your effort to explain the declaration of Fernandez. But you know the declaration is ambiguous. Francis is a Jesuit and therefore very intelligent. They don't need such an ambiguous document before inviting to be more welcoming towards same sex couples.

Sorry, Fr. So far the Church had stood firm on a bedrock foundation of faith and morals, but unfortunately, undermined during recent years, coming to its nadir by the latest declaration from Cardinal. Fernandez and Pope Francis. Card. Fernandez’ earlier writings haven’t helped either. The thrust and meaning of the document is very clear. No wonder whole Bishops’ Conferences and individual bishops and priests have rejected it. We need to get back to Christ and call sin a sin.

No matter whatever the pope, the cardinals or priests may say on the subject of same sex marriage, but the Bible has clearly defined that same sex marriage is a sin. Listen to the Word of God and obey God rather than men who ever they may be.
Cardinal Fernandas will divide the church between the conservative and the liberal and as it shows that he's more with the world than with God.
His book clearly indicates what type of a person he is. The Catholic Church should pray for Devinne intervention because wolves in sheep's clothing are infiltrating the church and you'll see many heresy in the future

Please father don't try to suger coat the same sex union blessing it means purly akcnowledging. Plus when same sex couple come forwad togeher for blessing it doesn't mean they are trying to separate when they go back. They wanted this confirmation for such a long time now they have got it. I feel sorry for priests ho don't want to bless but might be forced to do it. If this blessing was a form of repenting none of all the bold bishops would have rejected it, they are not stupids. We will fight for this to stop by prayers! Jesus didn't bless a sin! Lord in your mercy have mercy on us!🙏

I'd like to see more on the conversion aspect from the Jesuits. One of my criticicisms of modern Jesuits, including those brothers from Argentina who are now in high office, is the tendency towards Sola Misricordia sans penetentiam- Mercy alone without repentance or justice.

Common people don't understand these two terms.... liturgical blessings n pastoral blessing.... therefore this document creates confusion where they think that the church accepts the same sex couples in the church by blessing them

The Holy Father could have suggested that the Church accepts everyone to repent and be blessed by the Church.

This priest is just beating around the bush. Sin is sin. No use in blessing sins.
Mathew 10:13 reads, if the household is worthy, your blessing of peace will come upon it, but if not, your blessing of peace return to you. Can anyone explain this?

Iether pastoral blessing or not, the Church must not giving a blesssing to the partners that goes against the teaching of the Church.
How can you bless a person that you know them that thier doing is not morals, do you think God Accepted this prayer of a certain priest who give the pastoral blesssing for a same sex union.

Thank you for clarification on the blessing of gay couple. It only means that the Catholic Church could not turn away anyone sinner or saint. But like the Pope said under certain condition. I'm a Catholic so whenever I ask for a blessing from priest I would say may matter to be blessed and the priest will blessed me on that matter while telling to accept Jesus Christ and pray to Him of may sins regarding may matters, like having conflict with my parents, and live life according to the teaching of Jesus Christ. So when a gay couple ask for a blessing the priest would not turned them away but could blessed them as a child of God who will be told to accept Jesus Christ and His teachings and turned away from their evil ways. Remember everyone, Jesus Christ went down from heaven for the sinner to saved and teaching the sinners of the word of God and giving them chance to repent. And this is exactly what the Pope is trying to achieve to give these gay couples to be blessed for example for their health, for their relationship, for their job under the condition they will accept Jesus Christ and His teachings in their life. That through them discovering the words of God these gay couples will see to themselves they are infact sinners. What if they won't repent. Well the Catholic Church will still bless them until such time they reach spiritual renewal. To all of you, we cannot deny these gay couples, sinners as they are, of the blessing of God because without God's word they will continue to live in their fleshly desire. Let's not be hypocrite that we don't have family members who are homosexual and many of us are praying that they would turn away in their sinful way. So here is now the highest leader of the Catholic Church leading the way for these gay couples to hear the word of God and eventually accept Jesus Christ in their lives. The lots of you are angry with Pope Francis please don't, he is just following the example of his Master Teacher, Lord God Jesus Christ for giving the sinners to feel the spiritual love of God. Instead, let us ALL pray for our Pope Francis to successfully bring back these sinners to loving arms of the Lord Jesus Christ.🙏

Never agree. Sin can never be blessed. How can something which God was so angry with, be blessed, is it not common sense. Only people can be blessed, not lgbt couple. The German priests started the tradition before the Vatican officially gave blessing on may 2021. With the fear of loosing people from church and also other things the German priests have forced the Vatican.

The pope already tried to be more merciful than God. What do you want to achieve by being rescuer defender and protector of the Church. Keep your intelligence for yourself. Blessing is a blessing, you don't try to give more explanation. You are trying to prove bthe word of God wrong with your liturgical theological philosophical explanation.
