@@patriciamargaret19565 In Matthew chapter 18, the entire college of Apostles receives the exact same power of binding of loosing given to Peter in Matthew chapter 16. They were all given the power of the keys, not just Peter.
Not to mention the circularity of the keys argument for universal jurisdiction of the Roman bishop:
Who ultimately has the authority to decide what is scripture and what is not? “The Pope.”
How do we know that the Pope has the authority to do this? “The scriptures.”
      This is a circle.
All of Roman Catholic apologetics hinge on the singular false conflation of papal ‘primacy’ (which did exist in the early Church) with papal ‘universal jurisdiction’ (as dogmatically defined by Vatican 1, which did not exist in the early Church).

He's right about the Pope's nonsense about blessing same sex couples but a Catholic cannot agree with him on thd doctrinal or other moral issues e.g. primacy of the papacy, obligation to obey papal error, the Immaculate conception. We must remember the Orthodox Church permits artificial contraception and remarriage in the Church.
All the African countries' bishops conferences plus Poland, Hungary and others and individual bishops throughout the world have refused to allow such blessings. Having lived in Africa and served as a layman with Catholic missionaries I can assure you no African priest would defer to an error by the Pope vbrather than their bishops.
Cardinals Mueller, Bourke, Zen and Sarah have officially challenged the Pope on this in accordance with Church law.
This priest intends well but appears to be on a recruitng drive as well. I have loved Orthodox spirituality for decades, reading the Philokalia and the writings of many of their Saints like Theophan the Recluse, John of Kronstadt, John Climacus etc etc. and practised hesychasm. St John Paul II said the Eastern and Western churches are the two lungs of the Church.
So this priest would have been better to confine his criticism to Pope Francis (who is not identical to the Church, nor is the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith). He is not well acquained with the facts described above nor with the teaching of the Catholic Churcb. Pope Francis errors here are noe ex-cathedra infallible statements requiring our assent. We believe in God's revelation in Sacred Tradition and Scripture.

Yes, we should not tolerate the sin of homosexuality because it is contrary to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Holy Scriptures but when the Holy Father, Pope Francis, asked priests to bless same-sex couples, he simply reiterated that the decision was simply a “BLESSING OF MERCY,” a blessing that is an invitation to live a less sinful life and draw closer to God. And this should not be confused with the teaching of the Catholic Church about the sanctity of the Sacrament of Marriage between one man and one woman.
The parents of a disobedient son, no matter what, still love him as their son. During the Catholic worship - the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the priest blesses the congregation, which consists of both GOOD and SINNER PEOPLE, or VERY VERY SINNER PEOPLE who have committed crime such as murder, adultery, etc. The priest does not bless the sins of the people but rather the individuals.
The source of the confusion comes from anti-Catholics and the media (not all) who distort and exaggerate the Holy Father's message that the Catholic Church now allows same-sex unions, and some even go so far as to say that it is now APPROVED. Is not !!! They need to read the documents !!!
God bless the Holy Father Pope Francis, God bless the Catholic Church, and God bless the Orthodox Church !!! 🙏

However, he is using the current situation to attack the Catholic Church on other issues if disagreement such as the procession of the Holy Spirit in the creed and the immaculate conception of Mary, which are long standing doctrinal issues having no relationship to faducia supplicans. He has also not correctly given the role of the pope and his relations to the other bishops. He's simply using an unfortunate situation in the Catholic Church to promote his church, thus letting people know that all the talks about ecumenism hopefully. leading to Christian unity is insincere and just a show.

11:50 The Council of Nicaea II in 787 seems also to have stated, dogmatically, that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father through the Son.
No one prior to Palamas in the Vlakhernae synod pretended this referred only to an economic sending in the life of the Church, after God created.
But Palamas did realise that if it referred to the eternal procession of the Holy Ghost, this is equivalent to filioque.
Filioque was also taught expressly in the I Council of Toledo, AD 400. Note, we both agree, in the III Council of Toledo, filioque was read in the Niceno-Constantinopolitan creed, in 589. BUT, well before the Visigothic invasion, filioque was taught by the I Council of Toledo, in 400. When Priscillianism was condemned.
This was 41 years after Hosius of Corduba had died, a man who had known St. Athanasius of Alexandria.

Because it never allows for the blessing of same-sex relationships...If you disagree with me, reference the document, which is available online, and find any reference to the blessing of same-sex relationships... Everything this irresponsible priest says is out of context. He is deeply reckless. He appears to have never read the declaration, never read any commentary and he is totally cut off from the process that led to the document. This is a lazy condemnation and not the work of a good pastor...I repeat: if you disagree, reference the declaration.

The most conservative College of Bishops, the Nigerian Bishops, approved the document as orthodox. The most traditionalist religious order, The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate, said in no uncertain terms that it was orthodox. The Eparch of Parm, a Byzantine rite Bishop, recently expressed his support of the document. As is consistent with the Pope's 2021 statement, "you cannot bless sin." There is absolutely no provision for the blessing of sin in the document. I challenge anyone to find one sentence in the 15,000 word declaration that permits this in any way. It is fully within the tradition of marriage being heterosexual, monogamous and life-long.

Catholic here. Thank you for your clear teaching on this matter; I wish our priests had more courage. However, may I point out that Catholic bishops are the authority in their dioceses, not the Pope. Catholics have made the mistake, especially since the 19th century, of treating the Pope like a dictator. It started because they wanted a sort of guarantee against secular 'Modernism'. It never seems to have occurred to them at the time, that this would be dangerous if you had a bad Pope. Catholics need to remember: the Pope is NOT normally infallible; this charism relates to very specific cases (definitions of faith and morals; the last such event was in 1950). Treat the Pope with respect, yes; like a dictator, no. He can and must be corrected by the bishops, and this attitude of obsequiousness in the Catholic Church needs to end.

I'm a Catholic too. The problem for us is spoken by this good orthodox priest at 14:08. If we go to mass (where the priest says "together with Francis our pope") and then we take communion, we're professing obedience to him and his teachings. That's why I have stopped receiving communion at the Novus Ordo Mass. I only receive communion when I can make it to a Traditional Latin Mass, because at that mass, the priest does not say those words out loud. If we receive communion, we are not professing obedience to the pope and his teachings; because we never heard his name mentioned.

Oh but Catholics who are educated in the Faith DO know how to respond. There is no such thing as "official" Church teaching, there is only authentic Church teaching and the Fathers teach us that we know that because we can check that every authentic teaching is traditional - whether a teaching is clarified or pronounced after due study of Scripture etc. (such as the dogma of Our Lady's Assumption into Heaven) it will always be what was believed by all Christians always, and everywhere (to cite St Vincent de Lerins). Papal infallibility is limited to just that - no pope can change dogma or the moral law. This pontiff is a very bad pope, the worst ever, and in time he will be denounced by the legitimate authority in the Church; for now, he is a cross for us to bear but no Catholic should be in any doubt - we must not conform to his errors and heresies but resist them. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!

A false Pope can show he is false, by preaching heresy, which gives everyone in the Church immediate right to conclude he is not the Pope.
For this, we have St. Robert Bellarmine, we have Pope Paul IV, we have Torquemada (not sure if it was the Inquisitor or his uncle the Cardinal), we have St. Francis of Sales and we have a debate protocol from the Council in the Vatican 1869--70.
A "Pope" that teaches heresy is not a Pope. Precisely like a Nestorios who denies Theotokos is not a patriarch of Constantinople.

When St. Paul gave St. Timothy oral instructions, were these not infallible?
When the council of Nicaea in 325 condemned Arius, was it not infallible, like the council of Jerusalem in Acts 15?
Are Apostles not Theopneust? Are their successors not Theopneust? John 20, verse 22, was it not God who breathed on them?
Matthew 28 verse 20, is God not ordering His Church to be infallible and promising His assistance to be unfailing?
Collective acts begin with individual acts, both the election of St. Matthias in Acts 1, and after the Holy Spirit started an unusually well timed collective act, did it not end in an individual one, Acts 2, with the sermon of St. Peter, the same who spoke out for electing a successor for Judas the Traitor?
Was there not an infallibility in the Old Covenant, even before the New Covenant, in Caiaphas before there was one in Cephas? Was John the Beloved fallible in chapter 11 and verse 51?

Avvakum was burned on the stake among other reasons for staying faithful about the Immaculate Conception.

Any Catholic or orthodox, who rightly proclaims and defends that which is always been believed, and practice By everyone everywhere,, based on his or her state and life.

the document says priests can bless these couples, that they can turn away from sins. In fact the document upholds traditional orthodox teaching on sex and relationship and sin. It re-affirms that sin cannot be blessed, these unions cannot be blessed, the relationships themselves cannot be blessed. What can be blessed are the two individual sinners within the relationship. It is very clear if you read the document. Its odd that you would praise St John the Baptist as an exemplar of honesty and truth, while you are spreading falsehood. I know this narrative benefits your EO worldview, but it is simply untrue.

The intent is quite clearly not to pull people out of sin but to validate it. The church could already bless individuals. If that's all that was happening, there would have been no need for the document. Look who's praising it the most to understand its intent.

Do you seriously think James Martin called up a gay couple and set up a photo op for the New York Times, so the world could see a Catholic priest blessing two men holding hands -- all so he could "call them out of their sin"? No, he was literally blessing their sinful relationship. Wake up!

@@mancunianmartin558 this current document upholds that their unions cannot be blessed. Jesus called on us to be humanitarians to a degree. @@mancunianmartin558 thank you for your charitable dialogue. There is a difference between humanitarianism and humanism. Charity, almsgiving, caring for the destitute are essential for Christians.
I agree there is a pernicious influence of humanism, liberalism, progressivism and marxism on our culture, and there are some who want the church to bend to those ideologies. I just don’t think the church Jesus founded ever has or ever will bend to heresy. And this anxiety around the document reminds me of how people were anxious that the church would change her doctrine on contraception at the time of Humanae vitae. I just pray that during this time good Catholics wont join schismatic sects.

I have read comments defending the heretical pope. How could you defend herasy when the same sex couple came to the priest and ask for blessings for both as a couple., and if a priest bless them as couple ? That is called sinful act blessings. Yes, we are all sinners, and when we get to a priest, we confess our sin and do repentance and then we get blessing not to do sin again. That is called pure blessings. No need to spin or twist things. This pope is heretical. Period!

the document very clearly stated that the union/relationship of the couple is not blessed. Simply the two people are being blessed to help them turn away from sin.

5:55 If two homosexual men in a couple told you, they wanted to make peace with God, they wanted to find a lesbian couple for partner exchange, for real marriage, would you bless them?
In that case, I'd agree to bless them expressly for that purpose, not the contrary one.
The problem with the document is, § 31 seems to presume they should be staying faithful to each other.
Of the contraceptive perversions, homosexuality is worse than normal contraception (well, contraception isn't normal) insofar as a man and a woman may stay faithful and decide to be fertile next time, but the only way for such two men to be fertile next time is for next time for each to be with a woman, that is _with another person._
So, I'll have to disagree with Fr. Mark Goring on that one. Btw, he also would definitely refuse to bless sin, and would not bless the couple as couple.

Antipope Francis I is a manifest heretic, so it's not a matter of corrupt priests. And yes, Francis did give permission to give ecclesiastical "blessings" of the union of sodomite "couples", not just the persons, which would be a deviation from the Church's teachings per se.
