I'm very impressed with Diane Francis' insight. Her perspective is, in my opinion, more broad and succinct than even some of the military strategist and generals that I have seen voice their viewpoints. Excellent podcast!

Too many western observers make the mistake of applying western values and common sense to Russian politics. They don't work like that in Moskow and never have.

India's Modi has been trying to play both sides for years now! However, over the past 2 years in particular Modi has made some grave errors in judgment and certainly in optics. I'm not so sure that Modi wants to keep on snubbing Western Nations, especially his biggest allies! If he's not more careful, he could very well find himself and his country isolated from many Western countries that India enjoys travel to, easy immigration options, and important imports and overall trade.

I'm very impressed with Diane Francis' insight. Her perspective is, in my opinion, more broad and succinct than even some of the military strategist and generals that I have seen voice their viewpoints. Excellent podcast!
She states that Putin's position is precarious, which goes against what almost every actual Russia experts says. Russia can't win this war, but Putin isn't going anywhere. Too many western observers make the mistake of applying western values and common sense to Russian politics. They don't work like that in Moskow and never have.

This analyst really gets it. Rather than taking a purely military view of the war action, she is taking a holistic view and explains how and why Putin is losing this war and his time is running out.
Couldn’t agree more. Wars are not won or lost exclusively by military actions. The situation on the home front is critical. This truth is reenforced repeatedly if one studies the great modern wars.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of military analysis by military figures, and it's great analysis of the *tactical* and strategic situation of the Ukrainians, but they all end up hitting the limits of their knowledge - which is understandable and OK! - when they try to figure out *why* Ukraine attacked Russia. And I think that's because the Kursk incursion is more political than military.
First time Russia's been invaded since WWII. Breaking the myth of Putin's security. Losing actual Russian territory, towns, and infrastructure. All on Putin's watch.

No efforts to show off hs own knowledge.

What once worked for Putin in Chechnya 20 years ago may in the end (hopefully) not work for him in Ukraine.
Chechens won the first war and the second war was also not a real defeat, as Russia bribed Kadirov, one of the Chechen warlords, who became a new leader of the region with authonomy other Russian oblasts dont have.

India's Modi has been trying to play both sides for years now! However, over the past 2 years in particular Modi has made some grave errors in judgment and certainly in optics. I'm not so sure that Modi wants to keep on snubbing Western Nations, especially his biggest allies! If he's not more careful, he could very well find himself and his country isolated from many Western countries that India enjoys travel to, easy immigration options, and important imports and overall trade.
India is 20% of the world population, its 5th economy and sees itself as an equal of China, the USA and Europe.
India is the largest democracy in the world but Modi is behaving like it’s an autocracy! India will never be a superpower carrying on as it’s doing on the world stage. I suggest the west withholds investment until India works out what side its bread is buttered on! 🇬🇧
