CORRECTION: The new EVGA shroud will feature a white LED (NOT RGB). This has been clarified by Jacob. Sorry about the mistake.
+Optimisation King90 I don't know if you're trolling or not, but the 390x is nowhere near the 980Ti, also, the 390x is sort of useless as it is as the 390 has 5% less performance yet it's 20-25% cheaper.
+HardwareCanucks Hey Dimitry, How does the MSI Seahawk compares to EVGA's in the reliability ?
'cause I've been reading around and they say that the MSI isn't that reliable and is prone to leaking issue after a couple of months.
+HardwareCanucks is it a 3pin or 4pin header for the fan?
+HardwareCanucks great video, dmitry! It was a smart move to put the 2K and 4K benchmarks right after one another, but how about reducing graph size and squeezing them into one frame?
+Chaos AssazZin iirc, its 3
Great review. I love the new camera shots you're trying. The box stop motion and the spinning from under and sideways was really interesting. I have to admit that sometimes I'm more interested in how you want to show and express an item than the item itself. Since I find all the items you review amazing, I mean this as a high compliment.
Thanks :)
+HardwareCanucks I gotta say that your reviews also give a good sense of the experience of using a product, not just its raw specs and performance. This is invaluable for someone who values acoustics and good building experiences. :)
love your videos, awesome reviews! very informative and to the point. no nonsense :)
+HardwareCanucks Nice build dude sweet camera angles too.
hmm is there any custom bios for this to get higher clocks?
Personally I like the look of EVGA's card better, up to their box even. But with these cards, it's simply going to just come down to design; your personal preference, and what your build looks like.
Damn, I really like this style of reviews. I also really like the channel name. Well done guys :)
Ooh that new EVGA shroud that you mentioned looks amazing!!
Thanks Dimitri, another nice review that answers the questions the consumer wants answered.
Thanks for the heads up about the free shroud from EVGA.
love your 4k content bro!
Wait did he say 40 degrees? 40 DEGREES! WAT!
*cries in corner with air-cooled MSI 970*
Celsius :)
+treewith ahat I got the hydro copper version, it idles at around 28-31 degrees, a nice change from my 90 degree 560 ti's
+HardwareCanucks is that fan speed at max?
+HardwareCanucks Well if it was Fahrenheit that would be an entirely different topic.
+Ghost's Graphics so you're saying you got 90C idle with a 560? that's... embarrassing...
Does the green colour on the right side of the box at 3:08 seem to flicker for everyone or is it just my monitor? Same for the following few shots after that. Other than that (and that's really a minor minor minor complaint) great video! The 90° rotating shots at 3:27 - 3:40 are so nice to look at!
Honestly, thanks Dmitri for bring that up that Shroud program up b/c other wise I would have never herd of it and I probably would have not got an awesome shroud in the future!
Love the review! HC I've got two questions about those cards. I tried the HG10 bracket on my 980Ti and it almost burned by VRAM. I am concerned about the cooling for VRAM and VRM, would you try to feel the card backplate when it is under full load for 5+minutes, is it warm, hot or burning? Also is the blower fan controllable via any method? is it loud?
Hey HardwareCanucks when are you guys going to do a full review of the Bequiet! SilentBase 600?
Excellent video
this looks amazing man.
EVGA in 2012: Hybrid coolers are dumb, it is a cop-out way of fixing a company's inability to make an adequate air cooler.
EVGA in 2014: The AIO on the R9 295x2 is just dumb. It's a cop out way of not being able to design an effective dual GPU air cooler.
EVGA in 2015: Introducing the new Titan X Hybrid Edition!
+speedevil22 sources?
+rx10 The first was just the way their marketing material was worded at CES back in 2012 when they were talking about their GTX 580 Hydro Copper, they were making fun of I think it was PNY Technologies for making a GTX 580 AIO. The comment in 2014 was made by their CEO, Andrew Han on Twitter to talk up how great the Titan Z was (triple slot, air cooled, dual Titan Blacks). The one in 2015 is... well... watch the damn video :P
+Trevor Williamson So.... no sources I see
+speedevil22 So... no sources I see
rx10 Nice try, troll. Sorry you're so new at this that basic fucking common knowledge is lost on you. Not everything has long lasting proof, especially if it was said in marketing materials and/or social media, especially if it didn't generate any backlash. Which it didn't at the time.
I'm pointing out the relative hypocrisy of their roughly 4.5 year long refusal of every considering making an AIO, where they would say that it's a lazy man's way of cooling a GPU. This was predominantly performed on Twitter, back when Andrew Han had an account. AndrewHanGPU and TeamEVGA on Twitter are now lumped together, so the former tweets won't even exist.
I just bought the MSI 980Ti Sea Hawk and loving it! Quiet and amazingly quick!
Just ordered EVGA 980 Ti hybrid! CANT WAIT!!
thank you for this
@Raiyan Roslee good job. Impressive
the 1440p follow by 4k benchmarks for the same game is a small but very helpful touch. easier to follow thanks.
I'd like to see what the other shroud looks like on the Hybrid. It looks like it'd be the better fit in a black/red theme build I'm planning.
What case would you recommend for running two hybrid cards? The Define S is the first thing that comes to mind, but would they reach all the way to the front?
Love my hybrid Titan X's! Temps went from 76-80+ under full load to the absolute max I've now seen was only 50 degrees again under full load. Get these if you can afford them you won't regret it.
I have two 980 ti hybrids in sli, absolutely love them have been using them for ... has it really been 3 years? Wow. .. still running all games at 2-4k ultra 60fps.
Anyone already received their new led shroud for the EVGA hybrid? Can't wait to receive mine, the card looks pretty crappy right now to be honest. My application was confirmed almost two weeks ago but still haven't heard when the new shrouds are available and shipped.
Just got a used Hybrid on Amazon for $600 and a 1440p monitor to go with it. Should be a nice jump from my 290@1080p. Can't wait!
I'd go with EVGA. The way the fan is integrated into the gpu is a cool feature. Also the room to overclock to however you please is nice
How does a hybrid card like this compare to Asus' Poseidon cooling system?
$1029 NCIX vs $699 amazon. Your marketing now can compare with Apple.
$699 USD ...
+HardwareCanucks YOU MEAN NOW THAT AFTER 3 MONTHS THEY HAVE FINALLY MADE MORE OF THEM
HardwareCanucks In case of any misunderstanding, "your" means NCIX :) I love your channel btw.
+Lâm G4 $816.91 after shipping and import, then to Canadian $1071.
***** Because not everyone come from Canada. Why not just adjust the price instead of bring the tag from CA and change currency to USD? Ez money ez life.
Is the fan speed controlled by firmware on the card or software on the computer? Some cards run the fan at 100% when in BIOS because they need windows drivers to read the temperature of the GPU. (My current MSI card does that and I hate it.)
Since I have an almost full Corsair build, I'd go for the Sea Hawk, but the EVGA looks nice too, and the new shroud on it looks badass.
i love you :$
regards from mexico, dimitri
I just ordered 2- of the 980ti hybrids for my first pc build. going into a Corsair 780t case. question is on what to do about airflow?
My H100i will take up top of case. The hybrids will take fan spots for front of case. that leaves only one spot on back of case for fan. Is this enough? Any suggestions? appreciate any help can get thanks.
Charts are hard to catch both, as only the EVGA card is highlighted. In your next comparison videos, highlight both cards so they can be picked out of a graph easier!
Do a Titan X Hybrid Review & Comparison benchmarks.
The cooler re-design for EVGA looks much better, and the RBG is a major plus. Gotta hand it to EVGA on this one for giving us a card that can work in any build (I'm looking at you, yellow MSI logo).
i have the evga titan x SC and i put the 980ti hybrid kit on the card since the titan x kit is never available. i love the performance but i painted the shroud all black. looking forward to getting the new shroud
i bought the upgrade kit to the evga gtx 980 sc the second it was released and i couldn't be any less pleased
+arias1234 so... you don't like it?
i was half asleep, i mean more lol
EVGA one is better looking and better performing. With that overclock it's the fastest 980Ti on the charts!
+Something Random Inc. the zotac amp! extreme is the fastest 980 ti
zBruda Watch when they OC'd it though.
Something Random Inc. oh
+Something Random Inc. asus strix 980ti
EpicGuyJC - TheAcePikachu What about it?
What case are you using for that build?
So, if I don't plan to OC the card, which one of THESE (not any other) should I get??
Why does the chart at 2:46 say FPS on the y-axis and say temp at the top
been using my EVGA hybrid for 2 months now , and its FABULOUS ! sooo quiet , sooo cool ( max 47 Deg C ) , runs Crysis 3 maxed @ 2560 x 1440 75-85 fps . Only thing I have done is turn the fan round to draw cool air in .
Why do these cards make 38-39 db of noise? Is it the fan on the card or on the radiator?
Hey guys, i have a question do you know which camera slider Dimitri is using
greats from Germany
So which one would you prefer for gaming?
If I bought a EVGA 980ti hybrid now, would I get the new shroud? And how does it look since the rgb is no longer a thing as dmitri said
dimitri you beauty. You made a video I asked for
what's the difference between a fan that is connected to the motherboard and a fan that is connected to the video card itself, which one is better?
Should I get a reference style blower 1070 for 470 euros, or a gtx 980ti hybrid for 540?. (looking to play on 1440p), building in an define S case (so plenty of airflow). Oc'd 980ti seems to outperform the 1070 sligtly, but how about software (gpu boost 3.0 etc.). Thx guys
I have it and its Awesome! :D
The new shroud also features a different style of fan. The old has a centrifugal fan (as we all can see) and the new has a static pressure optimized fan with very deep and curved blades. I know this because I have one.
+The Dude I had also seen a few recent reviews that say the new shroud is completely silver and they no longer offer that the shroud with the copper/gold coloration which I was hoping for color synergy with my build. Could you please confirm if this is true with the newest shroud (the white LED one that is).
This is true, yes. The shroud has silver inlay in place of the bronze.
+Chris (Frylock) the new shrouds look much better, my hybrids came with the old bronze style and I ordered the new ones from EVGA. Looks much better now.
I got to the point where I don't care what product you're reviewing. Your cinematography is simply astonishing combined with the awesome music.
Leaning towards the EVGA version because it seems to go on sale more often than the MSI one. In the past few months, the EVGA card has gone on sale 2-3 times at Newegg, while the MSI has not. That will probably influence my decision.
I just got a Titan X hybrid. Its glorious........
I got mine for $689 on Amazon with the new shroud which looks amazing! EVGA FTW!
what model of computer case? thank you!
I wonder why does no one look at the Hydro Copper by EVGA is it just not worth it at the price vs a reference when you put a water block on it?
i put a NZXT Kraken GPU cooler on my 980ti with a Corsair H110 140mm cooler and it works awesome
evga baby !!!!!!!! ive got a titan x and my evga cooler is on its way should be here thurs.
Can you rebenchmark the furyx with the latest drivers?
I've only just retired my EVGA in late 2022... solely due to pump final failure (Has no fan, no shroud, pure AIO)
Easily the single best card i've ever owned and used for the best part of a decade.. Literally zero problems, like ever.
Best bang for buck by a longshot, coming from a loooong long history
I haven't seen a tech reviewer highlight the card they are benchmarking on the chart. I think it would be easier to look at and compare.
Nice. A hybrid cooled graphics card that costs more than my whole computer. Love it!
hey, can u try to take a look at ichill 980ti black edition hybrid s? ty very much :D
2nd comment! pheww...luv ya content dimtrii! keep it up
Who can understand tech youtuber, if we talk about the fury x, it sucks because you need to use a fan hole for the radiator, but if it is the 980 ti... men this is so cool!!!
+HeyDan1983 Well there's also the fact that the 980 Ti is better XD
+Subal Pant No comments....
Lol
+HeyDan1983 well, I haven't seen any tech youtuber say the fury X sucks, but the reason why the 980ti with radiator is cool is because there are other options and not just limit you to the water cooled one, while with the fury X there is only the one with the radiator.
+ThePolulos Well can you show me some review where they dont say that the radiator sucks? I think even demitri review said something about it...
Don't they sell a bracket from corsair's and you cab slap any corsair's water cooler ?
Which one runs more quiet at load?
How about giving the EVGA 980 Ti Classified a shot?
I would go with the EVGA because the fan is controlled by the GPU and doesn't have a yellow LED.
I got yesterday the EVGA GTX980ti Hybrid and I change the fan curve and I landed with 1505mhz and at 37c. :D
is it ok to put the water block on the top or does it need to be on the rear exaust? i already have a water block for my cpu so i need to know if both can be placed on top.
What ever you prefered. The position doens¿t make a difference.
Which one do i prefer? Both in SLI!
*****
It's possible, you just need the same GPU. The rest of the card is not important. Except if one of the card has more Vram than the other one, in this case the added Vram on the card that has more Vram can't be used.
*****
That's not what i'm talking about.
If you do an SLI or crossfire with exact same quantity of Vram, for example if you take two 390 8 GB, the crossfire will have 8 GB of Vram.
If you do a crossfire with 2 differents card (need to be the same architecture), for example a 380 and a 390, if the 380 has 2 GB of Vram the crossfire will have 2 GB of Vram. If the 380 has 4 GB then the crossfire will have 4 GB. That's why crossfire between different GPU is not necessarily a good plan (it's possible with crossfire, not with SLI)
lol, that's right, I do think like that too :D
+dinopgm82 Its used, but its a duplicate, so there is no more effective Vram. Keep in mind the bus width is still effectively doubled as well.
+UniCrafter I prefer Asus Strik.
it would be awesome if you threw in some 3440x1440 benchmarks as well!
Getting a Hybrid EVGA for my 1080p gaming... ALL THE TEXTURES.
The EVGA one looks mega cool, but the MSI does have a unique look to it. I may go with the MSI option.
2:45
Tempeture over time but the Y axis is frames per seconds ?
The Sea Hawk takes this one on performance but on looks the Hybrid looks way better with solid build quality. The shroud on the Sea Hawk looks cheap and not worth on a $750 dollar card. I would go with the Hybrid for sure
I would go with the EVGA because the fan is controlled by the GPU and doesn't have a yellow LED!
So I'm doing a build with the Evga hybrid, a 6700k, a gigabyte z170 gaming 7, two solid states, 16gb of 3000 MHz ddr4. One, is a fully modular 80plus gold 650w enough? Second, is this an overkill gpu for this setup?
gpu is good. would recomend a 750w psu so youve got room for upgrading where a 600 is kinda bare minimun for that settup really.
really like the hybrid product, I don't have to buy a bracket to mount my own aio
Do a review of Steam controller and steam box.
A shame that this card doesn't outperform air-cooled alternatives despite the massive reduction in temperature. I'm guessing that it's because a fair amount of the power is drawn away from the card to run the pump? Hopefully nVidia provides more headroom for overclocking with Pascal.
Why no 300 series? 390X?
I have the EVGA Hybrid 980 Ti and my PC always starts just after hitting the power button, somrtimes 1 time, some times even not and sometimes even 10 times... After that my Mainboard asks me to run the Setup of my Mainboard again and again.
Might be my PSU though, LC Power Ozeanos 650W. Will get a new one for christmas :)
(According to PC Partpicker) The Hybrid can be purchased for $699.99 (USD), and the Seahawk for a little more than $750 (USD). Pretty easy decision. I will go with the Hybrid all-day everyday as the kids say.
What case is that at 0:09 I want my case to be like that :(
Both in SLI?
Late is better than non I guess, I have it already been using it for a while now, it looks much better and OC crazy!
I have mine OC to 1510 very stable, I'm looking to push it further, at the moment didn't even reach 105% power target.
There's a cable management Velcro came on the loop, where did you put it?
Do a evga gtx 980 ti ftw review please
This is only £400 now. GPU depreciation is crazy.
were ? 300 seem a touch to low
Shit sorry, I meant £400. Will edit.
no problem, just got exited if you had some mad dealer, 300£ for a 98ti hybrid? Ill take 2 please (same price as a new 1080 for two watercooled GPUs)
I've never really liked the look of EVGA's hybrid cards. I really like the blocky and rectangular looks of the reference cooler, so I feel the curve or at least the accented curve at the front of the EVGA card ruins it for me. If I had the money to buy a hybrid card (i cri evrytim) then i would go for the MSI's upcoming seahawk. I think that looks much better :)
how do you make your graphs?
Excel
I want a card that looks like a pure matte black rectangle
They should maybe make a bigger block to cover up the rest of the components, remove the fan, and shrunk down the graphics card a bit.
You need the fan in those type of cards for the other internals like memory, vram and so on.
+That Guy When I said bigger block I meant full fledged all PCB surface block, like the usual GPU block that you buy from EK for example.
+TekTick Did you edit or did I misread O.o
A full block is obviously better but much more expensive.
Would also look a bit strange imo.
Either way, good night.
+That Guy Noap, I didn't edit, you can see that that first comment is untouched! It's OK, simple misunderstanding! :)
i am staying with my 980, till pascal comes in, no need for an upgrade, for what just few more fps? :)
