First of all, thankyou to the young man who is doing these interviews and thankyou to all others that may be involved. You are doing amazing work by spreading this kind of awareness and it is so important for people to see. This kind of raw and real insight into their lives is what we all need to see, to better our understanding of what is ACTUALLY going on and how some people need to wake the hell up and HELP these people. Keep up the incredible work, its people like you that actually save the world. I look forward to hearing more stories and getting to know these individuals.

I'd like to hear from the people you interview where they think the system is broken and what areas need the most attention. Specifics. Their road blocks when trying to get help and change. Also, what small things would help them if people like you and me want to help. I worry about how they feel after sharing their stories.. is it re-traumatising for them? 💔 Sending you a hug Michael, long time no see x
(Edit )I had to edit my message, because I have to convey what I'm doing in video format ,I am making a video telling my story in the near future about addiction and mental health. I really hope you and your family have been well also ,I have dyslexia, forgive me for Grammer and spelling . This is going to be a big eye opener for everyone and for me , These topics do not discriminate. I really hope people understand.
Good on this channel for highlighting the systemic homelessness issues which are significant in Melbourne. Its so very important to show the human side of our vulnerable people who are living rough o the streets and with the housing crisis this will get even worse. Everyone has a story and everyone is important and deserves a voice. No one should be living like this in Melbourne- shame on our system.
Aged care and disability organisations have Support Worker positions but they also ask for a police check. Maybe once she is off methadone its worth calling every one of these organisations to ask whether they would consider her with her police record. Unlikely, but not impossible especially if some time has passed since last conviction and has turned life around. Could also enrol in a certificate in aged care or disability that would help with getting a job.
Yes definitely need to have certifications in those fields, her priors would have hit the time threshold if it's been long enough, and could possibly be okay if she hasn't been convicted of any crimes since, being involved in a support network in the community and courses involving addiction and recovery. Being on methadone shouldn't disqualify her from getting a job unless she is operating heavy machinery or doing brain surgery.😊 Sharon has since got temporary accommodation and is waiting for a permanent placement, it's a good possibility she could get a job in that line of work for sure, with a little support from the right people she could get there, I believe in her! She would be very grateful for your comment & for believing in her too! Thank you, Regards U.V.M

Everyone have bad stories. I worked since l was nine. Jobs including farmhand, dishwasher, housekeeping ( cleaning toilets) now I’m professional driver/operator earning $2000+ per week after tax. I had times, collecting food of the rubbish and living in the car of my bad choices. I saw people making money illegally and I could have gone that way. But I choose to keep fighting and working. And now I’m ok. Long story short; I don’t feel sorry for people who was lazy and partying when I was working my ass off. Sorry
Hi, Han have you read the description of this interview, Sharon was far from partying, Sharon grew up without her parents, being ward of the state, and in out of foster care as a child.
@@UnheardVoicesMelbourne like I sad not everyone born lucky. We all had our challenges. I believe, people born with they character already printed in their genes. If you really want to achieve good in life, there’s always way out. If your genes is not a fighter , you’ll fail even if you had everything. There’s always excuses. I worked in farming in Australia and they always short of hand. Must be easier to sit and complain I guess. Don’t get me wrong, when I see someone in need I help. I just don’t like the idea feeling sorry for everyone who doesn’t fight.
Her ways of coping and dealing with the trauma she had experienced, will not be the same way, as of how you would deal with your experiences. Every human deals with stress, anxiety and trauma, in their own unique, different ways, not everyone can see the light at the end of the tunnel with out some one telling them it exists, and or even believe in themselves to even try and improve their circumstances in the first place. They need people that care, that can support them, tell them they matter and worthy to be happy, to live a better quality of life and help them rehabilitate, to become proactive healthy individuals that have purpose & something to offer in life, help the ones who want to be helped. We can't help people who don't want to. U.V.M has experienced this. Sincerely U.V.M

@@RE-pn5yq It's not as simple as that. You need to tick a lot of boxes, and you need a steady address for a start, and it's not actually $300 p/w for everyone. I am immensely thankful that I have a roof over my head at the moment, and access to the internet. Even having that, I still found it extremely difficult to get gov't assistance- they basically make it as hard as possible, and once you get it, they can kick you off it if you don't go through all the bullshit they demand of you. So it's best not to judge people, especially if you don't really know how hard it is to survive after going through so much trauma and instability.

Homeless and on opioid replacement therapy, Sharon a woman on the Streets, in the City of Melbourne Australia, speaks of the loss of her parents, in and out of foster care & being ward of the State as a child. Not having anywhere stable like having the security of a family home, family and or permanent living as a child made Sharon turn to drugs to cope in her life growing up, resulting to dealing drugs to support her habit and being in prison as a result of it. Sharon has lost her brother to drug overdose & the other brother to Motor Neurone Disease (MND), her father was never there, her mother was always sick, she has lost her siblings, she has no family. Her relatives are distant and they do not speak with her, she does not keep in contact with them, and she doesn't know where they are. Growing up without a father and a mother that is always ill would be hard for anyone, child or adult. I asked Sharon if she was granted three wishes what would she wish for? One of her wishes was to have her mother back in her life.
