Gangwon Seok's work is excellent. Regarding learning important things from his work, it depends. What he is doing and what I am doing are the same thing at two opposite ends of the spectrum. I am at the beginning of the process and he is at the other end. His work reflects a deep understanding and mastery of all aspects of automotive design drawing. If you also have this deep understanding and mastery, much of what he is doing will help. Only you can answer the question about where you along this spectrum.

The contest was very time consuming and at this point I need to spend the time on making some new videos as it has been a long time since I have posted a new one. I spent the summer designing 2 liveries for Audi race cars. Time to get back to posting some nee content.
Slightly off topic - I am planning to buy a new laptop and I plan to apply for bachelors in transportation design , should I buy one that supports Photoshop and 3D software or just Photoshop is needed
You can call the school and ask them what you'll need but typically I try to by more tech than I need. I'd rather have it and not use it than need it and not have it.
I would say no because every professional designer that I know holds the pencil in a way that is comfortable for them, yet we can all generate the same line quality. Line quality comes from drawing from your shoulder and how much pressure you're putting on the pencil. If you practice those skills, your quality will improve.
Hi ,im having trouble having inspiration from wierd pictures, which i see in other portfolios, not animals or fishes but some wierd pics, im not able to understand how do i understand the essence of these pictures and help me build my own vehicls
Here are some tips..... Stop looking at weird pictures and look at pictures that inspire YOU. Secondly, stop looking at other portfolios and focus on your own work. Don't concern yourself with what others are doing. Focus on what you value and what is important to you.
I do not know, but that would be a good project for your to embark upon for yourself. See if you can design something that's never been done before based on that point of departure and inspiration. Let me know how it works out.
The goal of the speed form videos is to demonstrate a technique and to share a new way of thinking about where form comes from. It's not necessarily about demonstrating any particular individual inspiration. If you're into velociraptors, take the techniques shown in the videos and apply them accordingly and see what you come up with. Doing this will be much more beneficial to your creative growth and skills development than just watching another video. You can't do it incorrectly. There is no right and wrong with this. There is only where you start and how much better you'll be when you done if you really apply your talent and passion for drawing and design.
Any colored pencil with a very soft lead will work. You want the lead to be very "creamy" when you're drawing. This will teach you to control your line weight. In the hierarchy of importance, drawing big is more important than having the right pencils. You can still learn to draw correctly if you're using a crayon as long as you'e drawing in a way that let's you use your whole upper body. You will not get any better having the right pencils but still creating very small sketches. Car design is not for the faint of heart.
I already have, several times. Your dream car is the one that makes it to production and goes from being an idea in your head to a real thing in the world. Designers turn dreams into reality.
It just shows you how out of touch we are in the modern world. I'm sure my grandfather's grandfather running across the plains knew the difference. Plus, I'm a car guy, every large cat looks like a Jaguar. :-)
