Here's a look into the development processes that take place within many automotive design studios

I, too, since childhood, was engaged in Amateur design art drawing of hypercar bodies and various modifications of passenger cars, but then I left thinking that this idea is not unprofitable for me.
@@odvutjogot3220 automotive clay
@@aguzarov00 Sad to hear that. A lot of car designers earn a decent living. It's an extremely competitive to get into, but it can be profitable.
@@FormTrends hey man how do you make these videos...
Like these design interviews ,do you go to them and then interview them ...?
I like the hand touch for final finishing activities. Simply perfect!
As a retired designer this reminds me why I became one! Looking back it was really fun and rewarding work, especially while "on the board". The management side wasn't so much fun, to be honest, but that had a lot to do with where I worked. I've always admired the design work coming from the Audi Studio, and this concept doesn't disappoint. The consistent success of the Audi products reflects a culture within the company that values great design and engineering! Build an EV version of this concept and I'll buy it!
Hehe the "management side wasn´t so much fun", I hear you, I´ve worked with a few designers that became head of design in studios or created their own companies and all of them say one thing "when you are at the top you design less and less, there is a lot of more in the business side that you have to deal with so you end up giving the designing part to somebody else".
how much work was it? and what did you study in school?
Curious Cat Absolutely true! There is also the political aspect that becomes more important, and where you have people you will always have personnel issues that crop up. The subject matter, auto design, always remained fun and challenging.
Joshua Lofton Back when I was in high school, I took college prep courses, most of which I never used again, but it made me a good candidate. There are several college programs that specialize in auto design, but I didn’t know about them at the time. I studied industrial design which is the general field of study which includes auto design. It was a lot of work. There wasn’t much time for partying, and we were told not to play sports because that would take too much time away from your assignments. In truth most dropped out. You really should have some artistic ability to enter the field, and lots of the freshmen did not. The program was for 4-5 years depending on how many credits you wanted to take on per semester, and how anxious you are to start work! The auto companies are always looking for the next hot designer, but they don’t look at every school. Unlike my path, I would recommend going to one that teaches auto design and has several good students in the program. The competition is good and they can learn from each other. That’s actually what happens when a designer joins a team. They feed off each other and they all improve. Hopefully I’ve answered your questions!
cabforward OOO you definitely did thankyou
When I hear an accent, I automatically trust someone's work more
LOL 😂
🤨the hell
Hmm!.....strange but true!
The Germans are some of the greatest auto makers ever.
Even an African accent?
I am a mechanical engineer. I’m always amazed at the talent of the artists who create these designs. As a mechanical engineer it is my job to help turn their ideas into reality.
How do you feel about them drawing 26" wheels on what is basically an Audi TT?
Same here I am an mechanical engineer too and I have been doing that for years creating their dreams into reality
The Magic is actually the team work, combining all dimensions together to form a piece of art that no one can imagine how much complexity and hardwork are involved.
You really run the gamut of visual and physical creativity here. Conception of the idea can be inspired by anything natural or man-made. The sketch involves traditional 2D art skills combined with design techniques. The model is built in 3D space, then is labored into existence in traditional 3D modeling, which I'm sure uses modern techniques. Then it's produced by expensive machinery and filled I assumed filled with handmade components. A lot of melding of worlds going on throughout. Most fields have similar pipelines but I'm always grateful to see it in practice.
Man, I love that guy's "X-Ray Sitting Dog" shirt at 1:29
I find the designing process of how the internal body panels are designed interesting....I would like to see this too.
I remember seeing this concept at Frankfurt, nice to see how it was made.
It is really hard to watch this as a German.
Casa Xtreme Why?
@@Napstone mix of languages
well its hard for me too and im finnish🙉

I can imagine. I abandoned watching TV in Germany after 6 months as I couldn’t watch another second of voice over or dubbing, people I knew there were huge, long term fans of Hollywood stars and yet had never been curious to hear their real voices.
This is beautiful 😍 hard work pays off
I hear German and English at the same time, that is a German confusing as a German
this comment is the most confusing thing I've ever read 😂 I assume you mean "That is confusing as a German, who speaks German" but maybe I'm wrong. I read it like 13 times to try and figure out what I was missing.
NEON Think he means hearing both languages at the same time is confusing (as a German).
I hate it, it is so annoying.
Oh men , it’s a Overvoiced Video , like many 1000 documentation on TV or News. It’s a standart about more then 60 years 🙋🏼♂️😅
NEON Your comment is more confusing.
WoW, so much God given talent.
That ride is flipping beautiful!
Superb work done by Tram of Audi.
One of the best designed Auto mobiles in the world.
What a great and inspiring video!
I m so impressed nd hav a dream to be an auto designing student of reknowned automaker group.👍
I wish me best of luck.🎁
The legend that never dies. Audi i love it
I like the job, today I have lots of car models that I designed myself but there is no car designer school in our country so my talent cannot be exploited.
amazing work👌
An Audi TT and Ford Mustang love child
I love that they use the original Quattro as inspiration but I wish they used more... Keep it a coupe/hatch look... Not just nods but almost like a modern interpretation on a classic design..
Kindalike what Nissan is doing with the idx
But then they couldnt use the tt's chassis...
I love this job i do it all the time for my self
I have never seen a video showing the process that takes this clay model and creates the whatever-ton presses which actually create the steel panels. Any ideas?
Appreciate the video!!
SO COOLLLL! hope that I can work like this in the future!
Oh that's my dream job
Mine too 🙂
How old are you
When I was about 15 years old, I used to draw sketches and send them to VW via hand delivered post... including a 4x4 bakkie/pick-up trying to get into the automotive design industry. However, due to lack of guidance, it never happened.😒.

This was so interesting
It's really interesting 😍
In an ever increasing battle for each manufacturer to make their cars look more agressive than their competitors, the front grill and brake cooling ducts will soon take over the whole car. This is a good demonstration on how to lose any individuality you once had as a manufacturer.
The original Quattro is way better looking (and totally unique) in my opinion than this which is nothing more than a generic sports coupe aimed directly at the American muscle car market.
Yes!

COVID really fucked me up, but I managed to fix my life thanks to Forwago.
I would like to go to their workshops to see the whole process
Absolute dream job. If everything goes well, I can start as an external Designer for bumpers and other exterior parts for VW Group next year. Wish me good luck 🤞
Good luck Johannes!
woow i love it
I love cars too much! And with that i also design some 3d model of cars (original concept). I only use autocad, 3ds max, and photoshop. Hopefully i could apply in some of your companies someday bcause right now im currently a college student.
the song in 5:00 ?
very nice video...p.s. concept has an aston martin"s back;)
This brings me memories I used to make Chavant hardstyling clay in Slough near the airport of Heathrow. It was smelly affair firstly melting parafin wax and jap wax then filling it with redoil boiling to correct temperature cooking the mixture for 6 and half hours so just before adding zinc oxide the Portuguese resin is added once the zinc oxide reaction finishes it was poured into 25kg metal moulds to cool over night . The following mourning 72kg of dry grease resin mixture is tossed into a industrial dough making machine and mixed for an hour , 120kg of yellow sulphur powder seived is tossed into the dough machine and mixed thoroughly for another half hour and the very last 15 minutes a brown clay of 0.3kg is added so nearly 200kg of clay is transferred to a barrow to a bread extrusion and extruded cut to length and packed in cardboard boxes into 25kg net weight of clay all done by hand . Those were the days smelly, sweaty job and the eggy smell coming of sulphur powder it was a crappy job to do .
Bravo 👍👍👍
When I was in secondary technical school I was drawing by pencil and ruler, then came CAD designing. 😀

beutiful design audi) the best)
How do you just draw like that? WOW😉
Different softwares are used......I am 3d car modeller......I am using blender......similarly companies use 3d softwares like that.
@The Cornucopia .....my brother......lerning computer graphics and coding is my passion....I learned blender at my home by myself.....in 2 years...and still working and learning.....if you want more information from leave your email....I can guide you if you are passionate about car designing.....😘😘😘(with lots of love
Very very good....
Sir make similar video but add who they make clay models to presentation or (prototype)model ,like how they made body panels, chassis ???.
I didn't even think of using the left and right halves of the clay models as two separate renditions. During the clay portion I was like "how can they achieve symmetry on the clay model when they make adjustments?" and then I realized you just ignore it entirely, treat two halves as separate projects and use a computer to mirror both of them.
which 3D software do they use to design cars model
nice
Is it weard that i kind of prefer the brown clay colour more than any of the other?
Yes.
I'm pretty sure with modern wrap technology you can easily get that look
They wake up and they can't wait to go to work...car designers.
What software do they use to make a 3d model of the sketched exterior on the computer...
Sumith suresh Nearly all OEM design studios use Alias to get the project from 2D to 3D
Legendary....car... designers..
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
gives me a heart attack to see how sure you have to be to make it click.. I've been sketching cars since I was 6 and now I am 47.. the guts required to take from sketch to concept process still seems like crossing an ocean on a kayak, which held me back from considering a career in automotive styling and design
francis joe Sorry to hear you didn’t choose to pursue your passion. Automotive design is a highly competitive industry. But it’s important to try to achieve your goals
Gotta get to the other side somehow, right? If all you have a is a kayak, better get to rowin’.
I hope someday i owned one of that car
I prefer the older one
what softwear he was using for the design
That's why I love audi
What is the beat called in 4:58?
What 3D soft they use to design a car concept?
NSS PROD That’s a compound question. Most designers use Photoshop. But there are many other programs that also see their way into their workflow. For modeling, Alias is the default program while ICEM is used for for class A.
Cool
if only it was that simple... and the actual final 2d blueprints are just an approximation of the concept drawing 😵💫
This job is cool what's the name of it
Its my dream job😍😍
Can someone tell me the song name at @5:02 ? please thanks
Use beat shazam
I'm surprised they still use clay modeling instead of switching to VR. I've seen people do incredible design work inside of virtual reality.
Thats because they need to feel the car soul
never ever change from something that isnt broken
Thanks in a million. Great content. Awesome. Grade: A++💥

5:15 can someone tell the song name?
best design car
How much cost it would take to create a new model until ARAI approval
What's the song at 10:45
looks a bit like the r8
How much time does this process take?
amin dehghan It depends. Some programs go faster than others. For a show car it’s usually around 4 months
@@FormTrends Also depends how deep the pipeline is. Really top secrete cars/products can be worked on at least 3-4 years in advance. Products for example, apple has iphones on the table that are 3 years ahead, and they're currently working on the phones that will be released in 2023. Same thing applies to cars, sometimes.
thnx
That is nice bro keep it up
My dream job: about to design the concept like this vw group. #Das Auto...
looks like the German Version of a Mustang...
Schorschstein ! That's not what he was talking about though
The German version of a Mustang is the C63S AMG Coupe, V8 biturbo with an amazing sound.
I can express designs of the next Gen cars but not perfectly because it’s about the course, it was visioned since childhood
wow
And what happend to the Dynamic analisis of the car?, the vibration analisis on the suspencion, the impact analisys and safety, the FEA analisis, the metal sheet proces desing, the automation desing of the assembly line, pumping desing and more?...
Stunning concept.Still hoping Audi makes it for real.Maybe the EV Dakar rally car will look like this..

@@rogerharsh all that knowledge can be found on internet. Read books and practice. That's essentially what they will force you to do in design school. You can force yourself to do it and save yourself a lot of money and stress. Once you get good at it, nobody is going to ask which school you went to. The design speaks for itself. Some people out of design schools are still bad at designing so attending a design school is not a guarantee of success.
See what u can do is learn photoshop get ur self a graphic tablet to draw on and make videos of u modifying cars . Some have started doing it now . Make a video where u take a car discuss what u feel is wrong with its design and how would u fix it . Also have a consistent design philosophy while doing so . Then modify those cars using photoshop .
There’s a RUclips channel sketch monkey he does this . This is a great way to get exposure as well as improve ur self . If ur lucky u can use this to show ur experience because people want quantity in terms of proof that you’ve done something instead of stories of ur passion and few shoddy sketches . Do this and worst case scenario you will have an audience who will help build a decent RUclips channel which u can in few years from earn some money .
@@jakovd That's absolutely true. A design school's reputation used to open doors and get you a job. There are no guarantees anymore. That said, you do learn a lot about the practices and how to correctly use the tools in design school.
So the big clay models are scanned by a computer and then made into metal? How the heck does a thought and design become reality? The wheels and tech within?
RvssianTv Designers work from 2D sketches, which are then quickly transferred to digital and 3D. A clay model is then milled from the 3D data, which is then scanned back into digital. From there, tooling is made, panels are stamped and the vehicle is assembled on the production line.
