I think this would have been a better video if you guys had emphasized a bit more on the differences between the 8 trim levels offered on this vehicle.

Slang94 - at 87K my 2014 JGC is having all kinds of issues, and they are almost impossible to work on yourself. All services were done on time, it’s been in and out of the service department for a month now - I’m looking at the 4RUNNER as a replacement.

I have a ‘18 Overland. Unfortunately, it came with Bridgestone Ecopia street tires which to me totally conflicts with and renders the quadralift system useless. Street tires are not going to get you very far off-road, so what’s the use of a system that allows you to raise the suspension to 10.8”?

@@joelgervasi1166 I hate Bridgestone Ecopias. I had those as OEM on my 16 Rav4. I recently replaced them with Cooper CS5 Ultras and the ride quality has a definite noticeable improvement. Unfortunately most cars come new with these stupid Ecopias.

got a 2017 limited sterling edition with the quadratrack 2 system, best SUV ive ever driven. super awesome for light off roading n daily driving.
I just purchased a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 a few weeks ago and love it. No other extra options than what is standard on the Overland trim and I still feel like it is very well equipped and luxurious. Drives real smooth and acceleration is pretty good even for having just the Pentastar engine.
My dad has a summit and I think it's one of the best SUV's out there! love the speakers, air suspension, 5.7 hemi, AWD, and just the overall looks. A lot different to drive than my 2006 wrangler, that's for sure lol
For me, I'll choose the Limited 4x4 with the base Pentastar 3.6 V6. The Limited is not to basic and not too extravagant because the Limited has enough features to satisfy many buyers(leather seats, power liftgate, upgraded sound system, etc). The Pentastar V6 as more than enough power and still capable off roading.
Love my 2017 TrailHawk 3.6. Good power and mileage and the features included for the price are great. Cooled/heated seats with leather are a plus.
I have the 2016 Diesel Grand Cherokee and absolutely love it. Overland, QD-II with ELSD, and QL, it is a fantastic overall rig. Interstate highway cruiser, daily driver, and overland expedition explorer, it does it all.
I have a 2018 Laredo 4*4. There were no options but it comes so well equipped. With rebate I paid under $30k. What a value. Evaporator went at 11k but fixed under warranty. I love this Jeep. Your videos are great. Keep them coming.

Gabriel Guzman I have seen the old 4.0 i6 and 4.7 L v8 jeeps completely embarrass the new 2014+ jeep line up. there is proof all over the internet. people spend you cash on a used older model safe big and out perform. I have 2 with simple long arm 3inch lifts and 33inch tires that dominate off road and mudding. those big displacements 5.7L - 6.1L do nothing for you off road when simple parts keep break off

I’ve had both. The 5.7 and the rear end gearing is a much better combination.
The 3.6 was always looking for a gear. With that 8 speed, it was always reving high. It took a lot more to get the Jeep moving.
The 5.7 is smoother ride.

First, Jeep doesn't make a 6.1L V8. Its a 6.2L V8 Hemi. Second, any vehicle with any powertrain will have parts break when seriously off-roading. BTW, did you own these vehicles brand new with 0 miles on them?
I was just thinking yesterday that your buyers guide videos are awesome... I have forwarded the wrangler one to many friends that come to me about buying one. Some vehicles just have so many variants and options that something like this really really helps. Wish this was more detailed tho (compared to your wrangler one). Need more videos like this!!!! I have a 75th Anniversary Laredo w All Weather Trai Rated Package. I love it. there are lifts available for coil sprung WK2's around 2". Jeep did make significant suspension changes in 2016 so as of today the aftermarket is a bit slow for 2016-17 models but stuff is in the works. this is my second WK2 and QuadraTrac II is very capable

I currently have the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited. I love it very much and have absolutely no issues with it. It's a fun daily driver and has some great features in the Limited.

Tommy- for the trailhawk model, Jeep probably didn't feel the need to include rear lockers like the normal Cherokee has because the grand Cherokee has QDII (Quadra Drive 2) which, as u mentioned, has electronic limited slip diffs. Based on my research in forums and such it is one of the best 4wd options out there because it essentially has automatic lockers on the front AND the rear. But the only complaint abt QDII is that these are AUTOMATIC electronically activated limited slip locking differentials. (That was mouthful) So when the onboard computer system detects slippage or traction loss, it locks one of the differentials for about 90 seconds (not completely sure, the jeep forums were unclear on how long they remain locked) but this system is intended to replace the need to manually lock the diff via a button like a rubicon or a trailhawk Cherokee. Some of the best off-road performance has come from these QDII systems such as the 2006-2011 grand Cherokees and Commanders. I own a 2006 Jeep Commander with QDII and the system works wonderfully 👍🏻 personally I think it's a great addition to a grand Cherokee simply bc it's such a modern, sophisticated off-roader. If u want a more "rugged" and outdoorsy system with lockers that you can control via a button then obv the wrangler rubicon is meant for you. I'd agree though, a more rugged trailhawk with a controllable locker would be neat. Just throwing in my $0.02

Have a 2019 Summit with the 5.7 Hemi. Absolutely awesome vehicle.
We have a Limited 4X4 with the base 3.6L V6 engine... it's got the 20" wheels, 8.4N navigation radio, premium audio, and a single moonroof... those are the only options we really wanted, and we got a great deal! :)
I have a 2017 Summit with the 5.7 L, they have been clearing them in Canada very aggressively this year at major discounts and it was a great deal for me, I have been watching this car for a very long time. Its amazing how luxurious it and people are always come upto me and complimenting the car and asking questions. I used to have a 2015 Mercedes ML with the air suspension and I much rather the Grand Cherokee in every aspect. Perfect all around car!

I've recently acquired my 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 4x4 and I bought it with a 2 inch lift and oversize BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2'S. So far 4,000 miles and I've been super impressed with it both in its offroad capabilities, and on road comfort. As well as it's versatility, the thing has even been getting decent gas mileage with the lift and larger tires 17.5 average and 21 highway. Great vehicle, I'd buy another in a heartbeat!
I have owned my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4x4 V8 for 13 years. 250,000 miles on it, and it is still going strong. I also just purchased a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT V8 Hemi about 3 weeks ago! Dang this has a lot of power! I am loving all my jeeps!♡
I have a 2008 grand cherokee laredo with quadra track ( 4x4 ) all the time. It's definately not up on the high end like the one in your video, but I traded a 08 trailblazer for it from a dealer. This is my first jeep. I've had it nearly a year and am mostly happy with it. I rarely go off road with it but for the very little I have it hasn't gotten me stuck. I would like to maybe one day get a newer jeep but in my opinion it's a lot better than the trailblazer I had. Keep the videos coming.

I have a 2014 Overland with the 5.7 HEMI. I love that engine the car can get up to speed super fast and it just sounds good. The interior is amazing in this car, leather wrapped dash and everything is soft touch materials. The 10 speaker Alpine 5.1 surround sound system is amazing. Best I've ever heard in a car. Sometimes the Uconnect is annoying, I had to get my whole system replaced because of a communication error but other than that I love the car.
I just got a 2017 overland and I love it. Fully loaded and sexy as hell.
mines is a 2015 JGC Overland 3.6 v6, air suspension and i still love it after 9 years and 120k miles. just normal wear and tear, no major issues. its been good to me.

I have a 14 and love it. It was sold to me as a Laredo, but based on what the video said it's a Laredo E. It has the 8" screen, 18" tires, 4wd, and cloth seats. Wish it had the adjustable suspension, but the stock suspension has plenty of clearance for the driving I do 99% of the time.
Hey guys, I have had 6 jeeps in my lifetime so far 1wrangler, 2 Cherokees, and the grand Cherokees, my latest grand Cherokee is a 2016 summit model with everything! I mean everything! I looked at the SRT but no suspension lift and way to fast for me! I have kids. My son ( age 13) and I love the Canadian mountains and we go rock crawling. Can't do that in an SRT, Love the air lift suspension ! Mine is a plantinum edition with a hemi and the blu-ray system and is bright white. I love it and would never change a thing about it, nice review and help for people wanting to get a grand Cherokee. Even the the summit to me is the top of the line model, the SRT has no off road capability which I want and have. Thanks again for the review and hope you do an in depth review on the summit.
Nice video. I have a 2017 trail hawk 5.7 hemi and love it it's a fantastic vehicle I have owned a lot of trucks and SUVs in my time and would have to say the Jeep grande Cherokee is probably the best one I have ever had. The 8 speed and hemi combo is in my opinion the best power train on the market right now and would highly recommend it I also tow my 32 foot holiday trailer with it and it pulls it better than my 2017 power wagon 6.4 hemi I can't say enough good about it just absolutely love this jeep

Calista Daniels My mom is on her third Jeep, all have been Cherokee, we haven't had really any issues, except for the computer at 90,000-100,000 miles, other then that, it is regular maintenance and the last Jeep had almost 300,000 miles.

I have the 17" TrailHawk with the 5.7L in it and I think it's awesome. Plenty of power when you need it and helps especially when you're out on the trails to have that extra boost in power when climbing. I had rented a 3.6L Overland to go out to Moab before my purchase and I noticed that even though the 3.6L is capable. It sometimes struggled climbing up the hill, but nonetheless it made it with almost no problems. Then I went again with my 5.7L and there was no struggle. Took it to the sand dunes and hearing that V8 at 5,000RPMs + is awesome.. overall great car. Only thing I would want is a brake controller for when I'm towing.. all that power and hookup options, but no trailer brake?
we deal alot with the ram promaster with the 3.6L and they do great! even loaded down with people and wheel chairs, and still get around 17ish mpg on the highway. so I think paired with the 6 or 8 speed it will plenty of power.
I have a 2013 Hemi V8 TrailHawk. It's amazingly flexible at a turn of a knob. Sport mode on asphalt makes it behave like a Charger with the way the transmission shift points change, the throttle gets very quick and responsive, and the suspension lowers itself to "Aerodynamic Mode", but turn it to Sand/Mud mode and your sitting tall with Off Road 1 right height and with QuadraDrive II if only one wheel has traction, you are good to go. The E-LSD is a hybrid differential that can operate anywhere between full open diff to full lock with unlimited variation in between. It makes sense why there is no switchable rear locker as it does not need one. Rock mode got me through some very deep holes without even touching the full steel rock rails with it lifted to max height in Off Road II ride height and 4Low and the throttle was so gentle to modulate at low speed. The most amazing thing about Quadra Drive II is the way it manages torque to all four wheels so well that you can pull yourself up and over darn near anything with hardly any wheel spin. Its great for situations where you don't want to dig yourself in. The 5.7 is the ideal power/torque/economy for use as my primary tow vehicle (I tow a 20' steel utility trailer with two side by side UTVs and a 29' camper with a weight distributing hitch) and my trail vehicle for Jeep club events, and my sport wagon. This one vehicle can fit my mood, whatever it may be at any given moment. It's my favorite vehicle I've owned thus far.
I have heard so many people in the comments section call Jeep products lemon but actual keep owners always seem happy with their vehicles .....

My mom has a '15 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4x2 with 30,000 miles no problem so far. If you are looking for the best trim as far as just a entry level luxury cruiser competitor look no further than the Limited model. So many features for the money.

Be careful of that decision. A vehicle is only as good as it is reliable. A friend of mine has one of these and is always at the dealership fixing his transmission.
checkout a Subaru Forester...I love mine and you can even put lifts on them to make them even more capable.

Johnny Sokko lol knew that was coming! It's okay, I love my 2014 Forester XT turbo. Once I put my Primitive Racing lift on it with 16 inch Sparco Terra rims on some BFG ko2's...I'll love it even more. Don't knock it till you try it ;)
I have a 2015 limited. With all the bells and whistles! I believe.lol I have a leveling kit on it with larger all terrain tires. Wheels great! Snow/dirt/mud. I have the 3.6 in it but it tows very well. I tow roughly 5,000 pounds car and trailer. It does a great job no issues. I did add air bags in the rear so it doesn’t squat down. I would like to add metal skid plates on it and rock sliders
love mine 13 grand cherokee , over 100k miles , didnt think it will last long but i drive every day , took it offroad , drove to Colorado high mountains trails , long road trips , runs great , only been fixing/replacing small things, like : gas cap, wheel bearings , struts, sway bar links , tight rod end etc. wish it was more powerful than mini van 3.6 engine .

I bought My wife a Blue 2015 Limited 4x4, with 8.4 Uconnect, sunroof, tan leather with upgraded 20" Overland wheels. She Ab-So-Lutely loves it! We are now Jeep enthusiast! Love these videos! The day is coming when we will have 2 Grand Cherokees in the family.
I remember saying the same thing back in 2000 and now I have 4 in the driveway. On car wash day it looks like the assembly line all lined up nice and clean. No doubt you will have 2 and it will be a nice feeling.
I got a 2017 Trailhawk with the 5.7 in September and have over 35,000 miles on it now with about 300 off road miles in New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, California and Alberta, and British Columbia. The tires don't like the mud so much and will be replaced with Duratracs or KO2's around 40k miles. The mileage is great. On cross country trips where I'm doing 80mph, my Mitsubishi Outlander Sport that was replaced with the Trailhawk, was getting 23mpg. The 5.7 is getting 19mpg. Aerodynamics is aerodynamics. But being able to pass at 11,000 ft, that's the power of the 5.7. Off road, yeah I would like a switch for locking the rear diff - however switching to Mud or Rock mode on the Selec-Track electronically locks the transfer case and the rear so ehh big deal. GREAT vehicle. No vibrations, creaky noises, or problems.
When I used to work on Cell towers, I drove a black Limited with the V6 4x4 duel pipes out the back, Vented seats heated steering wheel Panoramic sun roof I loved that truck 1 tank of gas would yield about 560 miles. I dove the ford explorer and all the GMC SUV's the Jeep was the best by far or even the Dodge Durango all-wheel drive if you need more room.
I had a 2016 Grand Cherokee 75th anniversary limited with 30K trouble free miles. I upgraded to a 2018 SRT and I love it. Only getting about 3 MPG less but WAY more fun and prestige.
I love the amount of torque I can get out of my WK2 and how comfortable the ride is, yet still extremely capable off road. I agree completely that while the ELSD is nice but would love an actual rear locker.
I first drove a jeep back in 01. My dad got a new 01 jeep Cherokee sport 4x4, car was so powerful. Later my dad made a mistake of trading it for a 05 grand Cherokee Laredo, 3.7l. Nice car but got a new transmission at 10k miles. After that ran strong until 155k miles where it needed a head gasket. I got a 07 limited 3.0l CRD. Great truck but not economical. Has 133k miles and replace a turbo. I just got a new 17 grand Cherokee limited with 5.7l and love it. Total different vehicle compared to my 07. Oh, my brother has an 07 grand Cherokee limited with 5.7l and loves it. I might trade my 07 for the new compass in a year or two.
I might choose the trailhawk version. My parents chose the overland and have a v6. It's a nice looking SUV. Seems like a city Jeep with air suspension

In 2014 in Europe I bought an Overland and fitted three extras, a tow bar, an auxiliary heating and a winch. Absolutely love the thing. Great value for Money. It goes wherever you want it to go, it tows whatever you want it to tow and its warm when you get in. Yes, a Cayenne goes faster, but where goes the winch? Yes a Range Rover is more luxurious, but what is the price tag?
I have 2014 JGC Summit purchased in 2015 with the 5.7 hemi, love it. I new going in there might be recalls I've had 3 recalls to date with 1 major and that was the transmission recall. There wasn't any incident. I don't really go off road I have and it performed flawlessly. I purchased my Jeep for the purpose of towing my trailer and boat. Trailer comes in at 5830lbs, boat around 3500lbs. Maintenance costs have been so far have been below average. Dial just turned 59,000 kms. All in all my JGC Summit has performed very well hemi is fun to drive on and off road. I purchased it used it had 21,oookms. Personal preference some prefer import over domestic. There was a time when I preferred import, now that's not the case. Maintenance costs on import vehicles quite frankly are ridiculous. When you gotta pay $400+ for regular scheduled mntnce, I know that includes more than just an oil change is to much.
We just bought a 2017 Cherokee trail hawk. We love it and would love to see some off road videos on it. I wish we could afford a Grand Cherokee trail hawk, but with out the rear locking diff I think I would be disappointed.

One thing I still don't understand is why the heck does Jeep even make a 2 wheel drive vehicle at all, if you want Jeep but you want 2 wheel drive then I hate to be the one to say it but you might want to take a breath as that's probably something you have to remind yourself to do🤣
Picked up a 2017 JGC Laredo 4x4 just recently...this thing is NICE! Even though its a base model, it quieter, rides nicer, feels more solid than the Subaru Forester we traded in. The only thing this thing needs is a front leveling kit. other than that, all of the other fancy stuff you get in the higher trim levels, would be nice, but for me definitely not worth the money (unless I had a larger budget)
Wife just got a 2017 3.6 loaded Limited. It is fun to drive. Big step up from her CR-V. I've been told, "no rock crawling, off roading, or mudding allowed". Must use my own truck for that.
After seven (7) JEEPs with no manufacturer fault in any of them, I am of the opinion that they are underrated and probably badly handled. Perhaps people think a JEEP is bullet proof just because they are all terrain.Taken care of, cleaned up after mud runs and not stressed when cold, these jewels lasts.I have only had petrols 6 and V8 though, I cannot speak for diesels.
Depending on the year, diesels are either Mercedes Benz or Fiat. The first is fine, the second depends. Also the Fiat model is more modern, which causes issues reliability wise. Normal thing: diesel technology and ecology do not mix well.
Most of Gr Chr in Europe are diesels.
A family friend of mine bought a new grand Cherokee in 2018 and on the way home it broke down, she had to have it towed back to the dealership..... One of my close friends bought a 2017 new and two days later the passenger side headlight had 5mm off water in it. My mom had a 2011 grand Cherokee and at 20k Miles the check engine light came on, after taking it to multiple mechanics and spending thousands for the check engine light to only stay off for a few thousand miles she gave up on it and sold it. I had a 93 ZJ with 80k miles on it, the window motors broke on all 4 doors the door lock regulators had gone out on 3 of the doors, the driver side power seat went out.... I could go on...

Summit with the EcoDiesel would be my choice - hope they bring it back. Although I have driven several Limiteds with the 3.6L V6 and they are very nice.
I’m having a hard time choosing between a Trailhawk or getting a full size truck and putting a leveling kit in it. I don’t need anything crazy but I’d like to be able to go on unplowed country roads without fear. It’s such a nice looking rig!
I just leased a 17 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk with the 5.7 Hemi! Best vehicle I've ever had and I've been through several. I have the Luxury Group and the Active Safety group equipped on mine and those are must check options when buying or leasing, in my opinion. The air suspension is smooth riding and makes for a better ride on road than my previous SUV, 15 Lincoln MKC. The technology worked a little more smoothly in my Ford and Lincoln vehicles, such as active lane keep assist and the blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. No complaints otherwise! More powerful, great for towing our 4 wheeler, very very comfortable, overall very reliable so far.
I own a 2012 GC Overland with the 5.7. The thing blows my mind. I love it. Coming up on 100k and have only had the average maintenance issues, nothing unheard of.
Matt Sieber what kind of gas mileage are you getting? It also recommends midrange gas for the 5.7....are you always getting this?
Stephen Dinning not sure what she is getting for mpg. My wife is the main driver of this Jeep. She always puts the cheap stuff in for gas too. It's a blast to drive.
I'd like to see the panorama exterior view camera. Thought I saw that as an option on one of the prototypes TFL drove.
I bought a 2016 Laredo E with the trail rated package. The V6 is AWSOME. And I bought it NEW for $27,500. I get 21mpg in town and usually beat 29mpg on the highway. And it goes anywhere I need to go off-road.
Not just for these vehicles but all vehicles. I think people should just shut up about how good or bad they think a car is unless they have actually owned one. Gets pretty annoying when people complain about a brand when they haven't even driven one.
You don't have to own a vehicle to know whether it is complete shit or not. It's called doing your research. Something one should do before buying a vehicle so they don't get stuck on the side of the road and with a money pit. Reviews from owners, reviews from trusted rating companies, talking with owners, and talking with mechanics, gives one all the information they need to talk about a vehicle highly or poorly. :)
Actually, that person will have a better idea than someone who has owned maybe one or two possible good ones. Plus the biased fanboys/girls of certain vehicles that claim a vehicle is reliable despite multiple repairs and the people who say they have a 2016 or 2017 or a one with 30-40k miles on it and haven't had any issues. Like, no shit. That's not a good measure of reliability. Or those who have an older model with 200k+ miles when reliability was better.
Read the consumer reports. I almost bought one until I read of the transmission nightmares.
Transmission nightmares did exist, but only for a couple of years and have been fixed.
Transmission problems went away after 2014.
I have a summit. I do wish it had front and rear lockers with a sway link disconnect like the Rubicon. I had to search high and low to get the package I wanted on this vehicle. I did not want the Hemi. I had the Hemi in a 2007 Commander Limited I had previously. I loved that Commander and wish they would of never stopped making it. I pulled an F150 pretty much verticle up a cliff and it didn't even spin a wheel. It was a monster.

What value did you add to the question asked? Find me 5 cars at the price of this car that have more HP stock. After you fail to do so maybe you’ll understand the legitimacy of the question. What car do they drive that leads them to believe 470 hp is decent when talking about an SUV.

You should compare the 2003 Grand Cherokee Overland with the 4.7 HO. We have 3 WJs with one over 250,000 miles and they all run great. I'd love to see how it compares with the new Grand Cherokee.
Love my Grand Cherokee Overland. The air suspension works wonders. If you have to diagnose or repair that system it's difficult and very expensive. 😢
Just amazing how the US options you guys get compared to the Canadian Versions. I got 2014 Overland with all the bells and whistles but.I don't go offroad since I consider Montreal roads are like driving off road lol. 20 Inch wheels rock. :-)

Yea hey Nathan I'm with you. Either the TrailHawk or SRT! Depends if the diesel came available again in the TrailHawk! If I were to get an SRT though, I'd need to raise it just because. Not a lot but at least 2" would be nice. Or maybe just a Hemi powered TrailHawk! That would be the best of both worlds!
The 3.6 is actually a good towing engine I pull a 31ft camper with a 2016 ram 1500 v6 and have never had a problem.
@thefastlanecar how and what would you say about the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel? Buy? Lease? Or Forget it? Been researching for a month and a half now and I’m really really liking it... any opinions or worries about that Jeep?
I couldn't agree more on the rear locker for a wk2. I own a 04 overland.. With 130,000 miles and it's been solid. Runs great... I love qudradrive... Now Im hesitant on the wk2 as they took away the front lsd... I know traction control and everything but idk... I kinda like the old qudradrive cuz no electronics. And wj is last of the grands with front and rear axles...
Wasn't there a High Altitude and Summit California Edition that year too? I have had many of these and love them all . Currently have a Summit with a 5.7 hemi and Qudra-Drive, Love it.
