    The fact you can open any DankPods video without ever having watched any other, and understand what he is speaking about is insane. We always get an explanation of the terms, yet it only takes a few seconds to not annoy people who does know.
    My only confusion when first watching DankPods was the 1 grit - but never anything about the audio related topics, because he explains it so well (and yet so fast)

My fiance is an audio nut, and for years he's tried to get me to notice the subtleties in music, why some songs are great and why some are horrible because of some noise he (alone it seems) can hear. It all goes over as well as me trying to explain color theory and how gray has many subtle tones towards reds, blues and greens that can make or break stuff, but it's all just gray to anyone else. Dank here has really found a way to reach people like us and I'm starting to understand by some fraction. A little tip from an HD 58x owner: take out the foam on the outward-facing side of the drivers. This mod improves the cans by literal miles. To get the foam out, you take off the pads and the foam its resting against, take a long, thin implement like a screwdriver and put it through one of the holes on the cups, and then carefully push the metal mesh out from the earcup. Just take the foam out of the mesh, put the mesh back in, and re-install the pads. When I first got the 58x's, it sounded like I was listening to music with socks over my ears. Then I did this mod and the detail just picked right up, it's great.

      I would argue otherwise. While taking the foam out might improve the sound (subjective), it would be at the cost of exposing your headphone drivers to dust and what not. Worse case scenario, you accidentally knock off your drink and some of it enters the driver. The foam is there for a reason.
      Now, you could argue then why the HD600 doesn't have a foam as well? my answer is that the exposed driver is well protected by its inner plastic housing.

    • @doritos6548
      @doritos6548 3 года назад +55

      Nah, sound wise it doesn't do anything. Sennheiser confirmed this, in their massdrop forum they mentioned how the foam is acoustically invisible. The foam makes no difference to the sound, it is only there to protect against dust and other yucky stuff.

    I'm somewhat treble sensitive so I prefer a darker sound over something with a lot of top end. I don't mind missing the details if the harshness goes away.

    Just ordered the Superlux headphones for 25€, let's see how it goes!
    EDIT: Got the HD681Bs, from just a few minutes of listening I can already tell that these are the best cheap over ear headphones I've ever bought, there's not a lot of bass, but the sound is very crisp instead of muddy and I hear new details in songs that I've never heard before, especially in the treble region. They also let in a lot of the surroundings, so they're good if you want to be aware. They're also comfortable and seem fairly well made for such a low price.
