ce ballet est un miracle, la musique, la chorégraphie, les costumes et les décors, tout est parfait et voyage à travers les époques pour notre enchantement. Un scandale à sa sortie, mais depuis un plaisir dont je ne me lasse pas !
This is a really bizarre, ancient work of art dancing. Very strange. Highly stylized. Very beautiful. I’m glad it survived to this day. Debussy’s piece is fantastic.
nikinski one of the most powerful dancer his generation......paris was shocked when he performed this piece..........jumped from 7 m from stand still.......big respect rest in power universally light and love
very beautiful version of this ballet, still "scandalous" and wild ! the music, the dancers but also edition and filming, thank you for posting, I love Nijinsky (and Fokine) for leaving us those two ballets, l'Après-midi d'un Faune and le Spectre de la Rose ! Thanks to Debussy also ! The creator of costumes and stage settings (décor en français), Léon Bakst is also a big contributor for all this beauty, still fresh today.
There are no versions of this choreography, this ballet is in it's original Nijinsky form, you must be talking about some modern takes on it to the same music but they have nothing to do with Nijinsky
@@BytomGirl you are probably right, I have seen some little variations between Russian and French versions, mainly in the nymphs attitudes, arms, etc ...Before video, the transmission of the ballets and choreography were oral and not very precise, that's the reason why there are some slight differences maybe ?
@@tarantellalarouge7632 If they are small differences it's either changes by the person who staged it since dancers have to stick to the original choreography. Nijinsky's ballets as well as Fokine's are in their original forms and this dancer danced them all including a rare Blue God which was the only reconstruction after Nijinsky. He also danced Spirit of the Rose, Scherezade and Chopiniana
@@tarantellalarouge7632 French is Nureyev's and he always was adding changes, not always the best, as much as he was a good dancer, he was a terrible choreographer.
@@BytomGirl Nijinsky also danced The Rite of Spring. There's even a interview on youtube of Stravinsky talking about Nijinsky and how the audience literally rioted!
Who do you think did the choreography? Vaslav Nijinsky in 1912 for Serge Diaghelov and the Ballet Russes. It was a scandal when it opened. But Nijinsky’s genius created it.
Wonderful. Fantastic. Amazing performance of the Beautiful. Stare at the bottom corner of the screen with your right eye, go crossed-eyed, for a marvelous double vision effect. Or the opposite corner with your left eyed for a dazing optic.
See this amazing dancer in many other ballets, he was a Bolshoi premier dancer for 21 years and danced at Mariinsky at the same time for 17 years. His name is Nikolai Tsiskaridze. He performed many Nijinsky's ballets for Ballet Russes but he was mainly a classical Prince. Now he is a rector of renown Vaganova Ballet Academy

After watching the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, I was inspired to watch Queen's video for I Want to Break Free. Check it out if you don't remember it or aren't familiar-- in rewatching it for the first time in 25 years or something, I just gawped at its homage to Afternoon of a Faun!

I adore this. Brilliant choregraphy, dance , musis and interpretation.

And Nikolai Tsiskaridze performs it brilliantly as he did other ballets of Nijinsky
@@nancyforbes6887 Well the choreography was never notated--so this is the best reconstruction possible, but is certainly controversial.
exuisite! whhhhhy did I wait 8 decades to view this!!!!!!!!?
Listening to the musical interpretation, this is perfect. The ballet performance is excellent as well.
I cannot cry any more.
Le style de ce ballet est ce qu'il y a de plus envoûtant.❤
An incredible and brilliant work of dance art left by the fabulous Nijinki! This interpretation is beautiful! 💐👏🏾❤️
what a performance! All the sexuality and I wondered from only knowing the music, how was this going to be done! well it was well done!
That's because Nikolai Tsiskaridze was an amazing dancer, star of Bolshoi and Mariinsky
Truth is beauty and beauty is truth.
OMG that's so beautiful!
More Modern than modern today, stronger conceptually.

The French hated it back when it was initially performed. A close friend of our family was Nijinsky's daughter, and she had great respect for him.
I love Nikolai Tsiskaridze, such amazing performer of many Nijinsky ballets. He is perfect.

Nureyev is perhaps untouchable when it came to bringing the master's work to life...
Did you mean Nijinsky?
Cette musique exprime la splendeur et la violence sous-jacente du monde
Absolutely beautiful

As divisive today as it was 100 years ago I suppose!
Beautiful, love it!
❤🎉❤simply wonderful
The faun’s jump... it seemed like he was floating...
He was amazing dancer, in everything he danced, light like a feather, musical, elegant and perfect technique+
Fabuleux!!!

The harpist doesnt need an oscar, they need a harp in tune

8:50 did everyone else hear that sound?
maybe the string of a cello ? not worse than people coughing all along !
The same sound you’ll hear when the faun climaxed in the end. Thought it was part of the music.
A butch Faun?
who is performing
Faun is danced by former Bolshoi premier dancer Nikolai Tsiskaridze who is now a rector of Vaganova Academy
Vive Debussy! Vive ma belle France!
Fauns are one night stands 🤣
Walk like the Egyptians.
Boy, sumptuous is as sumptuous does
Falta informação.
Wait this isn’t a Freddie Mercury video
Yes, he took inspiration here for the "I want to break free" video.
Online class bro!!
i prefer clair de lune but this isnt bad
No me ha gustado nada esta interpretación.Muy vulgarizada cuando la real es de una exquisitez soberbia.
