of course not Nureyev but Jude. Even the costume is not exactly the same as Nureyev's (which was much more sexually enhanced). But very good dance nonetheless. That choreography of Nijnisky (Niżynski, as it was spelled originaly) is just out of this world, truly. Every time I have a chance to see it, is just stuns you.
this pas de deux is outrageous. Charles Jude is perfect with Pietra. You can see in the nymphs a sort of preview of the "Rival Tribes" in the Le Sacre du Printemps. I can not speak to the correct spelling of Nijinsky's name. I can only say I have never seen it before,
@@RSylveste The masturbation scene is shown right at the end of this very video. The faun lies on the discarded veil and ejaculates onto it. No manipulation is required.
As per the previous comments, why on earth is this captioned "performed by Rudolf Nureyev" when the opening credits of the video clearly state "The Faun - Charles Jude"? ... Can't the video's uploader read? ... That caption is very misleading as well as being just plain wrong.
Also , his harlequin and the colored harlequin Freddie wore in his early years are Nijinsky inspired , Freddie loved the ballet and may have read about him in boarding school ,
My experience with dance is extremely limited, but I must say that the combination of the very lyrical, free music (of which I am very familiar) with the jerking angularity of the dance is quite incongruous. Set and costume design is very fetching, however, if not perfectly germane to the setting of the Mallarme poem.
Apparently a faun does a lot of faun mating dance dancing around a princess. Not being a faun, she gets bored and leaves, so he masturbates on her scarf.
Rather than continue to berate the poster who gave us a very good quality video to watch I might add I'm going to agree with you that this is possibly the closest we will ever get to Nijinsky. . I don't believe no hurry I was even close to this and I have 10 to think it was later in his career I'll have to look it up. This is far superior to Nery Ave you got to watch them both just watch the scene where he controls the nip and brings her down to her knees just compare those two and you'll see what I'm talking about
Most definitely. I’ve read (not sure if it’s absolutely true) that on the night of the premier, Nijinsky laid down on the scarf and did a sexual act. It was scandalous at the time. I don’t think he did it in subsequent performances. I don’t think anyone was anticipating him doing that. I know it was portrayed that way in the Nijinsky movie with George de la Penna.

Эталон! Нет слов- восторг! 💝
No it's not Nureyev but the performance but still the magic is there.
Perche ingannare con i titoli e fare passare un ballerino per un, altro ?!... Tanto non ci si puo sbagliare.. perche Rudolf Noureev non ha uguali ! 💋

In what way was Nureyev's "much more sexually enhanced"?
And do you know where the notorious 'masturbation' part is or is supposed to be?

I think I now know where Freddie Mercury got his inspiration for his iconic pose in "I want to break free"

Que lindo
One can tell from the style that it's NOT Nureyev. OH, and then there's the on-screen cast list.

Amazing, truly magical, but that is not Nureyev

Claude Pietragalla of POB.

So if it's performed by Charles Jude, why did you advertise this as Nureyev?

awesome...mythical...unreachable dance creativity since 1909 !
He performed with Maya Plisetskaya when she was 70 y o, he was 50 y o .
Genial
Inoubliable
ドビッシ-の名曲ステキですね。牧神の動きが面白い、(手に特徴があって)神秘的、セクシ-な雰囲気が芸術的に表現されてて、音楽ともに美しい。
Charles Jude is very good, but NO ONE can do this like Nureyev. Watch his performance with the Joffrey Ballet - it is spellbinding!
Why does it say Nureyev?
NOT Nureyev. Please pay atention to the credits.
there's no need to be ugly about it. We have this video because of this person
Charles Jude is the dancer.
What is the story about?
It is not Nuriev. In subtitles in the beginning another artist Jude.
It's not "d'une" faune, it's "d'un" faune.
calm down
Grow up.
une imples a female faun, so op is just, right.
Performing Claude Jude non Nureyev

Can someone explain to me what's happening?
Apparently a faun does a lot of faun mating dance dancing around a princess. Not being a faun, she gets bored and leaves, so he masturbates on her scarf.
Do anyone know precedent where the notorious 'masturbation' part is?
Il s'agit probablement de Charles Jude.
I can “see” him thinking the faune. Nureyev IS the faune.
You mean - "Charles Jude is the faun." He doesn't even look like Nureyev.
