Fantastic interpretation ! Even Debussy himself is playing the flute!
Frédéric Perreten debussy isn't in this
It was a joke, because the flutist resembled Debussy a bit.
OMG he does look like Debussy!!!
Frédéric Perreten The beard lol 😂
I wonder why he has so much time on screen 😂
The flautist's breath control is phenomenal
The flutist looks very similar to Debussy :)
Or Smetana
Debussy,Smetana and a little bit of Bizet ;)
Lol 😅
Although it's not the kind of music I listen to often, I've always appreciated the quality and creativity that went into classical music. I must say listening to this is like getting lost in the most beautiful dream. I just didn't want to wake up from it.
Yes, but its not classical, its classified as an early form of “modern”
@@jraymond_123 Nah this is stil commonly understood as classical music even if not being made in the classical era.
I agree that the term "classical music" doesn't really have a good and specific definition though
This music is exactly about the faun's dream of chasing after the nymphs! :)
@prependedprepended6606 the way i see it, what defines classical music is whether or not effort was put into it.
Listen more.....you'll never get over classical music❤
Passionate, sensitive interpretation by solo flautist Sebastian Wittiber. (And, yes, he does look a little like Debussy.)
“Flautist”
@@malinahuang2968 a flute player is called a flautist.
@@prithvithakur7950 eh, depends on where you are. A lot of flute players I know (including me) say flutist.
In this case one may argue he's a faunist.
We refer to him as Herr Bizet.
Debussy would have made a fantastic film composer that's for sure.
Yeah. And Ravel (danse guerriere is incredible)
Music is one of but a few arenas where the dreamer's dreams become tangible and true.
Oh Debussy, I love Debussy. Sometimes all I think about is Debussy.
Family guy reference
Never finish on Debussy
@@ievgend87 always finish on the bach
What a 'classic' joke 😮💨.. 😂
The beautiful story behind this was that the French poet Stephane Mallarme inspired Debussy. One of Mallarme's visions was to bring all art forms together, music, dance and poetry. This came to fruition when Vaslav Nijinsky choreographed a ballet to this piece of music.
Bingo
Mother died 8 years today, Debussy takes me straight back into her arms.
One of the most beautiful moving aspects of human existence in my humble opinion!
Totally agree. Like a musical orgasm !
It's a great orchestra. I like your sound and performance. Bravo
Excelente!!!
Thank you Frankfurt Radio Symphony for posting your videos with very beautiful audio recording! I only started listening to classical music in Dec 2023 thru the influence of TwoSet Violin and I’m loving it!❤😊
The beauty of this piece is from out of this world
Oh, the flute, oboe, harp, and horn. So, so unbelievably lovely. I'm floating.
If i was a guest on Desert Island Discs, this piece of music would be top of my list. Beautiful rendition
you sure? not stravinsky's rite?
Great rendition of this Supernatural Masterpiece. I do believe Debussy has received this song through somekind of interdimensional portal directly from the ancient world, Pre-flood...
Love your coment!
There was no flood. CD was just a brilliant composer.
And its not a "song." Sigh! Why do the illiterati continue to refer to every type of musical composition as a "song"?
Quelle magnifique interprétation, avec un flûtiste exceptionnel (qui ressemble à Claude Debussy!)! Merci 🙏
C'est vrai!
From my childhood, always fascinated by. Like something explain to me the reality of dreams.
How old are you when this was your childhood?!
After I took off my body,
my soul would wander over
the sea and the town.
And on the side of that
street lamp,
I will be reunited with
someone I met once
on a young day.
Greetings from Japan.
Which national person are you
seeing this video?
For me, a deep feeling of peace, satisfaction; completion. Beautifully realized in this performance. Bravo!
This is one reason why Humanity does not deserve to be wiped out of the Universe because of some creepy virus that might hit us in the near future.
ur comment was right
This is not enough reason
@@Chris-rr9ud I'm tryin' to be positive.
The opening to all of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony's videos on YT have become so iconic for classical musicians
Qui sont la pour les cours de musique 🎵
Yes mais ça n'empêche que c'est bien :)
I think I speak for everyone here: BEAUTIFUL. JUST BEAUTIFUL
Me transporta a otra realidad. Gracias a Dios por la musica clásica
3:22 - 3:26 that Whole Tone part on the flute: pure delight on the ears. Makes me feel like I am being whisked away to an unknown, dream-like plane unlike anywhere in the physical world...
A wonderful moment indeed.
Forgive me if you already noticed this, but although it gives the impression of whole tone, It’s not quite whole tone: the G# in the initial descending part … just before the lowest note G natural and then the C natural occurring in the penultimate place before the return to C sharp (at the top) makes this not quite whole tone. The apex and nadir “outline” whole tone but its chromatic alterations make it otherwise. The other fun thing is that this “whisking away” passage is actually 2 flutes: 1st flute plays quick notes (in groups of 4) going down-up-down, then seamlessly the 2nd flute plays up-down-up, then 1st flute up-up-up with the 2nd flute joining for the last four notes - but it all sounds like just 1 flute !
I wish you health and joy
and many more rapturous musical moments in 2024
- Dr D
@@dr.rolanddavis thank you for the insightful reply: I do enjoy reading these. After repeat listens I did ask myself was it a whole-tone part or chromatic part: or a blend of the two? Either way, one of my favourite moments of the entire piece and one that brings me closer to that hazy, dream-like place.
And many returns to you, hope your 2024 will be a healthy and prosperous one :)
@adrianok4266
Thank you. And, Yes! I agree.
Btw, I’ll be conducting this piece in Moldova next week, I recently conducted it in Romania, and I look forward to this piece whisking the audience and the orchestra away
to that dream-like place.
Btw, I think Brahms said that Debussy’s “Faun” was the only perfectly crafted piece ever written.
Thank you again for your kind words.
I wish you fun and rewarding adventures in 2024.

In my 25 years I have never heard a better interpretation of this magic piece of music. To see the musicians it´s an extra bonus- Debussy is my fav.
Excellent orchestra! Why is Germany so blessed with so many outstanding orcestras? Is the cultural heritsge of the thee B's. But for me, Debussy, Ravel, Sibelius and Vaughan Williams are the greatest composers.
Love this lush interpretation of the faun. And the ingenious cameraperson captured both a bejeweled string mute, and a violinist bored out of her mind playing a single pizzicato note!
That violinist! Hahahaha
4:11 for those searching for her
Yess I thought I was the only one who saw them😂
Sublime!!!
Obrigada guido toneli pela recomendação
i play this music so many times even my cats love it
Wunderbares Orchester, wunderbarer Dirigent, wunderbarer Konzertsaal !!!!!!!!!!!!! Schade dass ich nicht in Frankfurt lebe!!!!
Потрясающе! Бесподобно!
Best interpretation ever, period.
Yessss!
You’ve heard every interpretation? Hmmm...
I love this piece by Debussy. Too often, this piece, along with his beautiful "La Cathédrale Engloutie" are overlooked by classical-music radio stations. They usually play his more-well-known "Claire de Lune".
beautiful
@@kathyreiners6833 It certainly is!
Reverie as well
@@carlosm.devasconcelllos3939 Yes!
An example of a perfect piece of music!
Debussy really got so tired of all the other interpretations that he got up and played it himself
For anyone who wants to know the story behind this amazing piece, I recommend this fun animated video :D

An amazing gift from God Claude Debussy was, what a beautiful genius mind.
The flautist is a reincarnation of Debussy himself
The perfect anthem for any individual's reverie...or dreamy day dreaming...
Omg I love the conductor. You can tell he loves being in the music and his gentle swaying and gestures is great.
i never get tired of this masterpiece, and what a lush performance this is. the first oboe is brilliant (not to mention gorgeous!)
This felt like watching one of those old animated Barbie movies. Just so nostalgic and beautiful
Beautifully performed to the very last disappearing nuance.
Mit das Schönste an Musik, vor allem, wenn man Mallarmes Gedicht kennt. Ich weinte, als ich es erstmals hörte. Hier exzellent interpretiert. Bravo!
incredible
Great, Excellent, awesome! Debussy takes you to a special world of inimaginable inimaginable sounds with wood winds and brass. All the musicians great!! Perfect conduction with Andrés.
Bingo
Felicitaciones Andrés Orozco. Hasta aquí, al otro lado del océano, llegó la potencia magistral de la música que emanaba de esa orquesta, y que usted domó y embelleció muy bien con su batuta.
¡Gracias totales!
having played this many times in concert, I can say that this is by far the best recording I have ever encountered. Bravo!
I agree!! Isao Tomita created a beautiful rendition of this. Check it out.
RIP Isao Tomita.
Nice to see Debussy himself playing the flute haha
Enorme regalo para los oídos 👋👋👋
Divinely delightful and exquisite interpretation!!! 💖💖🎺🎺🎷🎷🎻🎻🎻🎼🎼🎶🎵
Beautifully done. The first fully modern piece of classical music. And the flautist does look kinda like old Claude himself.
Oh wow I didn't know Debussy played the flute!!
Lindo!
¡Capristo mostró su naturaleza fáunica! ;)
music comes from the universe we receive it then bring it to life.
Made me cry 6:37
6:20 goosebumps

2:31 Sounds like when you forget to turn on legato patch at Native Instruments libraries 😁
Ennivrant!
What a terrific orchestra! The woodwinds are amazing!

Mein persönlicher Höhepunkt des Werkes. Wunderbare Darbietung, tolles Orchester! ❤
Ja!
One of the truly sublime pieces in the repertoire. Exquisite. Unique.
The flutist looks alot like Debussy! 😮
oh my goodness, that flutist dOeS look like Debussy
Can we all just take a second to appreciate the conductor. He a cutie!
This piece will always have a special place into my heart. It tells a whole story.
What a stunning Theater and group of great musicians ..
Una bella, delicada y sentida interpretación. ¡Bravo!

Habia olvidado mi faacinacion por esta pieza.
Hermoso escucharla nuevamente y gracias por recordarmela.!!!!
This might be, in my humble opinion the greatest piece of music ever written… and I have so much respect for all the Greats, from Bach to Ligeti, but Debussy was using God’s feather the day he wrote this… That moment at 6:20 is unequaled… It mades Ravel himself say this is the most perfect music he has ever heard…
Watching on the occasion of Debussy's birthday. Just floating away on the beauty. The poor flutist must endure endless comment about how he looks like Claude!
最後音響漸變弱,可能是正確的詮譯方式!太陽隱沒後,如何正確呈現晚霞及一點殘餘波光的印象是重點!
Le rêve lucide 👌
This is my favorite work by Debussy. A little polished gem.
Lush, lovely performance.
0:43 What an amazing performance, Debussy himself is playing his opening flute solo!
Reminds me of Star Trek, discovering a new planet. Like 1970s film music?
spellbinding. enchanting. nothing but pure magic 💛
Bravo, "Claudio di Francia" (G. D'Annunzio)
One of the few perfect compositions.
2:36 The beautiful passage for flute solo
Espectacular. Me encanta ver como los músicos tocan y sienten la música y crean algo así junto a su Director.(Ver, Escuchar, Sentir). Minutos 6:00. 7:10, los más potentes de ésta hermosa pieza. MUCHAS GRACIAS.🌹
This music is so universal. This is from a music lover in Vancouver, Canada.
I love it to. I also live in Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦
Meh 2
Many years ago hearing this piece opened up for me the wonderfully creative, evocative world of Claude Debussy.
8:44 I didn't know glockenspiels do vibrato too
Ya wtf is he doing? That cant be doing anything
@@itznoxy7193 Yeah it does, i'm a percussionist and it definitely produces a vibrato like effect. It's not very audible in the orchestra though.
I believe these are crotales. But yes.
@@rwlab1253 Yeah they're crotales
nice catch, beautiful. Don't know if it is the image placebo, but I do hear the vibrato
I always find Debussy beautiful.
Debussy himself playing the flute in glasses!!!
Hahalol
If that coughing were part of Debussy's composition...
The flautist looks like Debussy haha
So cosy! I dedicate this piece to my best friend who just lost his grandma this morning. She passed on to Glory.
