Finally, a comparison using the same daytime and same character models! Thank you! I also appreciate the switching back and forth between certain parts to highlight the updated texture, resolution, draw distance and model update (which I’m really glad they updated the uncanny valley faces to be closer to the mainline’s anime-like!)
Thank you so much for this comparison video. I never played the original Xenoblade Chronicles X, but i love Chronicles 1-3 on Switch. Looking forward to this remastered definitive edition on Switch next year. :)
I know the Switch version is prettier, but gosh, this game is really beautiful on the Wii U, they really took great care of the hardware here, I would even say it's prettier than Xenoblade 2 and 3 and even prettier than some early PS4/XONE games.
nah, its not prettier than XB3. I think what draws you more in is the art direction, because X is cleary hard Scifi. the trilogy, especially 3, felt at times like a mix of scifi and fantasy.
XC2 and 3 definitely looks WAY better than the Wii U XCX. I think you just have a preference for the “graphical style” of XCX over 2 and 3’s “anime” style.
I never hated the old character models, but I think the new ones look way better and actually much more in line with the series artstyle now. I think the complaints about the old models being "more expressive" or how "the hair doesnt move as much now" is kind of silly given how little we've seen. I'd even argue that those aspects were overdone in the original and this is a more grounded approach to animation, especially within the context of the scene. I love this game to death and I'm really happy about it being given new life and really hope we get a sequel game given the tease at the end.
Lin's touch-up is definitely the most significant character design update, imo! She doesn't have uncanny 'baby face syndrome' anymore, and her face and eyes are alot more expressive now!
Thank you, someone else who's willing to say this. I feel like the original models fit the aesthetic established by the other switch titles. Another thing, the original models are way more expressive than the main story cut scenes showed, it's a shame their range is hidden in combat animations and emotes.

So I have a good feeling that the draw distance and pop up in the over world will be greatly improved. Honestly, though, I don’t mind the pop up too much, I’d rather have stable frame rate. XD
yeah. Wiiu cannot handle 900p as a framebuffer, since you have to store all that in the tiny fast bandwidth eDRAM cache. And you only have 32 Mbytes. If you use 1080p resolution you cannot have any AA then. And if you use 720p only you can have up to 4x AA as well. This is a hardware limitation, since the architecture of WiiU is complex.
The lighting and colors look wayy better on wii u. More realistic and natural. Something about the lighting and colors makes the switch version seem artificial.
WiiU uses realtime lighting engine (RT). Same as used for rendering "Fatal Frame V Maiden of Black Water". WiiU uses cpu driven lighting engine. All other platforms today use GPU driven lighting engines (modern).
Switch is also a portable console. Having a portable being a pro model of a previous home console is pretty damn good. That’s like the PS6 being a handheld while also still be more powerful than the PS5.
@@Jiggly_WigglyPuff Making a PS6 handheld more powerful of then the PS5 would be nothing like the Wii U to the Switch. The Wii U was very underpowered for it's time and some games even ran better on the previous gen Xbox 360. Making a handheld more powerful that a console drastically behind the times is a lot easier.
Tbf Xenoblade X was pushing the Wii U to its limits. We’ll likely see better rendering times and distances on the Switch version. You can actually see the render distance improvement in the trailer when it shows the residential district: the fences are visible on the Switch version but on the Wii U they don’t render in

This is a hardware limitation, since the architecture of WiiU is complex.
a lot of motion blur on switch, might be bad for screenshots x)
3:59 it actually has less motion blur on Switcb. The details are sharper
i really hope that motion blur isnt in the final game... it looks really bad
I wonder how long until this video gets a copyright strike.
never got to play this game
kinda mixed on the new character model. aside from that im liking what i see.
I just simply want xenogears remake with complete disc 2 expansion as it should be. What's so hard about that?
I prefer the original
Let's hope they will fix audio mix as levels in the original ware horrible.
In this Video you see that the Switch was the Wii U Pro Update 😊
You can actually see the render distance improvement in the trailer when it shows the residential district: the fences are visible on the Switch version but on the Wii U they don’t render in
@@thew.o.b.3661 No. Silver Falls looks much better on WiiU. Runs better. And well: You know: Way more complex game than just running, and gunning down some monsters and collecting something on the way..
@codezero7981 Me ilusiono entonces!
I Hope this game is on Switch 2 too, It would have better graphics
3:19 it's so weird she looks more like Alvis than the OG Elma.
I think it was actually deliberate action by them..
I think they are trying to connect them to main numbered series.. Like what they did to XC Definitive Edition back then..
When future conected was anunced i thought A was elma
fr
Makes me wonder what her (spoiler) appearance will look like
great vid.
I prefer the old facial model. This anime style makes the game look more generic.
so seemingly upscaled textures, Color correction, Actual Ambient Occusion since the Wii U couldnt handle that before and better shadows generally. Seemingly Draw distance is the same?. I also am assuming it will finally be 60fps? would suck if not considering this isn't a remake and just an hd polished port the switch should be able to handle it.
60fps seems to be quite ambitious. Also the Switch isn’t really that much stronger than the WiiU other than more RAM, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much
@@robsch21 looks like it's yuzu for me then
why doesn't nintendo use cell shade like in xenoblade 3. 😔
oh no, they changed the skin color and face too. certain company might get triggered 😂😂
Some parts don't look that much different, the city barely had any change. I'll wait for the Switch 2 version to see any major changes.
This it's a port, Not a Remake.
If a Switch 2 version exists it would only RUN better, not look that BETTER like if it was a PS4 Pro game.
like people above me said, its remaster, not remake..
Post content after the end Game.
@@WERV2003 Its a remaster, so you would expect to see improvements, which there are, just not many or too big because there's so much the Switch can do. Also, by Switch 2 version I was referring as it being playable for backwards compatible (assuming the Switch 2 will do that), and how do you even know that it would run better and not look better than the PS4 Pro dude? We still don't know anything about this console, so we should wait to see what it can do before we make those assumptions.
@@jorgea8518 some remaster dont have any improvement.. literally just a game port or HD remastered.. same with XenoX.. they just update character design and UI.. WiiU to Switch not have big gap in power to warrant a big improvement and overhaul.. i dont say it wont but its barely noticeable from what I see here.. unless they had Switch 2 version too
I´m not a fan of Elma´s new eye color :(
I love the Xenoblade games ability to look incredible and terrible at the same time lol. Truly one of my favourite franchises in gaming
