I am as well. The original models are very expressive and well rigged, just all that potential wasted because it's mostly used in combat animations and emotes, barely used in cut scenes.
The Draw Distance is Great and I agree that they have a Higher Poly Count. The Face-Skin Textures look Low-res to me and remind me of a PS4 Game on the Xbox 360 (Although the other Textures like Outfits and such look great in the Higer Res). I think the issue mainly comes down to Model and proportions at the moment

While I agree the models need some more work, they weren't downgraded but simply made a bit more generic-anime because the weird faces were often criticized in the original. Textures and LOD are better: you can see more details, tree trunks, shadows, etc. in the distant town The Xenoblade 3 Elma would be way too anime for X
This is gonna be HUGE, Thanks to Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition we can make an idea of how big of a remaster this is going to be, Not talking on new information in the base game just imagine a new History Chapter located in the scrapped New Tokyo like the Bionis Shoulder
It's pretty evident we're getting X2 because of a certain scene in the trailer which seems questionable to even show in a trailer, OR the extra content will be available on release... because the game wasn't "finished," as far as I know. And if not X2 then a big dlc like they did with the xbc1-3. I doubt we're getting saga remakes for a while

I actually think the character models look better but they are more in line with XB1 - 3 on Switch. On the other hand I sorta liked the art style on the Wii U. But I still think the Switch ones look sharper and have better expressions. But the eyes look better on the Wii U.
I've heard people say this and I do agree but I don't know. This is the first Proper Xeno game with Nationalities tho so maybe thats part of the decision
I am beyond excited to play X definitive edition! As for the lore, I don’t think it deconfirms xenosaga as X is self contained and can easily stand as its own thing, but I think that the definitive edition will probably explain that the universe of X was created by the conduit when Klaus began the experiment, and that the aliens fighting against humanity are actually the humans from Klaus’ universe who were sucked into X’s universe and morphed into new forms. Also MAN THE MODELS GOT THE GLOW UP.

You said that this game is the final nail in the coffin for saga, but the references and direct call backs in from the FR radio, as well as them including kosmos in the lineup with all their xenoblade characters says to me they still view it as being in the story somehow For now i'm still of the mind that mira is another aionios way after xb3 when origin was used again to save species from all over a collapsing universe. As for the black knight, honestly i'm really hoping it is actually malos back for his redemption arc, that would make people go crazy. Plus if i'm honest, i feel like at this point it needs to be someone from the rest of the series, or directly connected to them cus if this is just some random new guy then this game will still feel like it doesnt really belong in the xenoblade series That's actually one of the biggest problems i had with X, xenoblades connecting story was the heart of why the series was so exciting, but this game was just not a part of it. They NEED to connect it more solidly to the rest of the series story otherwise i'm just not gonna be interested tbh

I do think this needs to be slightly more seamlessly connected BUT I don't think it has to be directly connected. What makes Xenoblade Good is its accessiblity but I don't want this turning into a Yakuza or Trails situation where you have to play10 Different Games just to understand this one. Have them connectedc sure but don't make this Xenoblade 4 in effect
@@JBspherefreakI don't think that the Xeno-series suffer as much as Yakuza or Trails from this effect, each game has its own cast and most of the connected stuff tends to be very self contained except for FR DLC, you don't need to know who Nia and Melia are to play XC3 or what is the overall context behind Aionios, the game explains everything you should know, so for me, the more connected each game is, the better.
I hope they implement the squads and co-op missions in full. I've seen way too many remasters with the multiplayer side completely cut. I just want to Overdrive on Yggralith Zero with my squad buddies again 😬

It's great news, indeed! The Switch is at least as or more capable than the Wii U so the game shouldn't need to be downgraded at all to run well on the former system.
Not true, the Hardware is actually much similar between the Switch and Wii U BUT the switch has a lot of more interesting and clever Tech like its upscaling thing. Hardware wise, the Switch is near identical and arguably weaker as it actually has a worse GPU but a better CPU (Your gonna want the GPU for X's world)

The Switch is a superior console and if they got this to run and look as well as it did on WiiU, it will be even better on Switch.

That hooded figure sounds like they're voiced by Ray Chase, who also happens to be the voice of L in this game. By sheer coincidence, Ray Chase also happens to voice the Master of Masters from Kingdom Hearts. Lao is also voiced by Mathew Mercer, who just so happens to be the voice of Ira, one of the Master's apprentices. Now, I don't wanna make any bold claims here... but MonolithSoft IS staffed by former Square employees...
Nintendo games regularly lag in trailers which is fixed upon release, i expect it to run as smooth as the wii u version. Also the game has had a noticeable resolution bump, it doesn't have the vaseline smear effect that makes the entire game blurry :D. The faces are likely the final result we'll get in the game, with the game releasing extremely soon i can't imagine them being changed, I respect preferring the old models but the newer models are definitely higher quality. The faces aren't as animated probably because the old faces just used the X character template to make the characters, which meant less detailed but universally compatible animations between models. Elma's face got a redesign separate of that but they didn't bother redoing the animations because i assume that would require doing new rigging and voice takes, which would be expensive and getting this game out was already a cost issue. I'm just happy we got the game, I'll cry about somewhat missing the old models when i finally get my first skell whilst possibly sitting in an airplane (my wii u save data corrupted and i could never get myself to play through the game again)😂

I doubt they are giving X's world and story closure. I feel like Takahashi and monolithsoft are still wanting to set up a trilogy for X. Post XC2 in an interview they mentioned wanting to make and XC3 and XCX2 and we got XC3 and FR and now XCXDE and so there is now an actual possibility that X2 is in the works already for all we know and it would be amazing getting Takahashi's crazy light novel for X became a reality. Still excited to find out who the black knight finally is and revisit Mira in better visuals and likely with some QOL features like bigger ui text font.
Xenosaga problem's is that's still owned by Namco, and they time and time again said they don't plan to release remasters because of low sales expectations.

The last time they said it was 5 years ago when there was no demand for it and the Xenoblade games weren't as popular as they are now. I think that Xenosaga Remasters could happen if the plan is to include KOS MOS as one of the main characters in the next game(s)

I like Elma's new look, the original game had a mix of characters rigid detailed faces like Nagi and smooth simple faces you'd associate with jrpg but but they still had that weird XC1 look to them since monolith hasn't been very good with 3d models so I'm glad they're getting better. Still not happy they didn't remake the game around the cut content but I saw people making Kingdom Hearts jokes about the hooded figure so I'm chill.

My only problem with x definitive edition is that it will use the censored us/eu version which means some censored clothing for both male and female characters and no chest slider for female cross
I think its too early to say for certain. They have confirmed to use this version yes but those features, especialkly the bust slider still exist within the games but are simply hidden so it is possible they make those changes although nobody can say for certain

I mean, Square does not have the same working relationship with Nintendo and Monolith that Bandai seems to have. What happens to Gears(Which is hopefully a rerelease and remake like with FF7 at some point) is entirely out of the hands of Monolith.
Well texture resolution is slightly bumped up , some models also got improved , and having the grey / brown filter overlay removed makes all the colors pop a bit more. That said the removed color filter could just be a specific weather and day setting ... so i wouldnt expect much there. But thats basicly it , so the game was with slighly enhanced visuals in mind ported , so not with 4K res for Switch 2. Maybe if this game will be Cross Plattform , it might get another resolution bump later on for the Switch 2 , but i highly doubt that. That said i expect this game to be Cross Plattform because its litereally in the title ... Xenoblade X (Cross) ... and its 10th birthday is on 29.04.2025 ... so time will tell. I guess. 5:35 "Mish Mash of different equipment pieces" - I dont understand what you mean ... the original XCX already had Fashion Gear Slots ... the only issue i have with that is that you actually have to have those pieces in your inventory to use them for the Fashion , XCDE made it better by having the Fashion Gear as unlockable and freely usable mechanic without the need to have the items in your inventory. Uhh ... from what i can tell the Black Knight in the trailer has deffo the english VA for Malos , he just sounds slightly different , which makes sense considering the time difference of the releases. That said its also worth considering that the Black Knight in the concept art ingame model design has a purple glowing thing on his chest ... so i wouldnt discard this possibility until we get further infos , even tho the japanese VA is different. "Xenosaga" "Xenogears" "X" Imo , Future Redeemed made it very clear that all these are connected in some way shape or form to the same earth (how exactly this fits is probably up to whatever retcons get made down the line) ... that said , Remakes of Gears and Saga are very much up to Square Enix and Bandai Namco , what Takahashi can do tho , is add more references and plotpoints to X that link Saga and Gears even more together with wherever Xenoblade is headed.
What I meant was that the Original XCX Trailers had the Characters Wearing different Equipment because there was no Events Theatre or thing for the Devs to easily go back and get footage for. Ofc there is the Fashion Gear but if you don't have the piece you want, you can't equip it
I didn't played it either but from what I've seen is BOTW for Xenoblade but with a way better open world, quests, more stuff to do, a few online features and closer to a single-player MMO that originally had a terrible cliffhanger nothing of a ending but that now they confirmed that they are expanding on it.

im sitting here wondering if its just gonna be an extra story like the other 3 had, or if its gonna turn what was the final battle into a prison island first visit sort of thing and have like 6 more chapters after lifehold. if the xenosaga link you were referring to is to happen, itd probably need a lot more than just an extra story considering x also needs to conclude itself in that shared time.
Correct but at the same time, I don't think they need to completely establish an Ogdoad thing or concept but just begin implying it exists. If X is to now get a sequel or so, those are the games to more Thoroughly Flesh out that concept
I think that in order to connect the original Saga games to the main series it would probably take at least some sort of larger project like a Xenosaga Remake/Remaster or something like that at some point. My bet is that the next games will include Saga elements like the protagonist might be a Uzuki that has a sibling which builds a Gynoid called KOS KOS and the main threat is the heat death of the universe which the keys to stop it lie on Origin. With that said IF they decide to tie to the original Saga games i think that things will go like: The new protagonists find KOS MOS broken asleep somewhere and decides to take her to repair, the game starts with some sort of "wake up KOS MOS" moment and she seemingly has some sort of Memory loss or corrupted data but she remembers her name and is essentially back at zero (my issue with that is that this would hinder KOS MOS character development on Xenosaga 3), KOS MOS would grow to become a very important character thorought the games and the mystery around her would come up at the people who never played Saga, later Monolith could make a deal with Bandai to Remaster the original games or make a Two Parts Remake Xenosaga 1+2 Definitive Edition (like the DS version who was never released overseas which is closer to Takahashi's original idea for Xenosaga 1 which due to issues half of Xenosaga 1 became Saga 2 and wasn't written by him and his wife) and later Xenosaga 3 Definitive Edition. The main issues here are: 1- Is Bandai willing to do that? I think that only if they see it as profitable, back then they wanted to Remaster Saga but they didn't thought it would've been profitable but now Xenoblade is more popular than ever and if Tetsuya Takahashi is looking at the fandom talk THERE IS a demand for it to happen and KOS KOS is a highly profitable waifu(Bandai milked her a lot in the past) so it's possible 2- Does Tetsuya Takahashi wishes to do that? Or he wishes to just move on from the original Xenosaga games and he would rather just add elements of it to the new games? 3- This is a very ambitious and convoluted idea

I think the Charackter models look pretty good actually, its only Lin who looks a bit Derpy. I also dont think that the models are Final yet, because you the only charackters who recieved the glowup where really Elma Lin Lao and Cross.
@@IISuzakuII I understand your argument BUT because Xcx has more playbale party charackters who should also recieve major model updates and the fact that they will have to make a complete charackter creator with the new style in mind, I dont see why they couldnt fit the NPCs in with that artstyle aswell
I don't see why this announcement would be a nail in the coffin for Xenosaga hopes either. If anything, it's opposite to me. It shows that the people in charge care about their older games and want them to realize their full potential. We've now seen it with XBC and XBCX (as well as Baten Kaitos). It's just that the Xenosaga trilogy would require a more thorough overhaul than Chronicles X and may therefore take longer to do. Then we can also get into the announcement of new story elements in XBCXDE, reminisce about small changes that were made with XBC1DE to more neatly fit into a larger narrative and wonder if that radio message in Future Redeemed wasn't a hint of things to come, one of which was now revealed. I'm even more optimistic for a Xenosaga comeback now.

Finally it felt xenoblade x was stuck on a distance planet never to come home. Alas the shackles has been release from wii u library. Nintendo shows us a thing or three.
I seen the direct comparison and I'm still proud owner of Xenoblade X. The Gamepad implementation is second to NONE. The new switch will have two screens on offer as the Wii U. That's a hot take but patent from Nintendo shows the architecture. So switch owners may be a lil let down. Duel screens are superior in many aspects. I'll continue playing Xenoblade X, Windwaker HD, Twilight princess HD, etc. Have a wonderful day y'all .
I do think the black knight is some kind of another version fo the protag, hell I wouldn't be shock the voice is one of two possible mcs. Maybe got a female voice for if you pick a female and a male for if you pick a male Also maybe new classes, hell I would love a protag only class like the drifter and a skell for only the protag and since you bring up Xenogear, Xenoblade story is officially over, so we could get a new Xenogears game or maybe a whole new series of Xeno games like a name they could go with, Xenobreak XenoZero
I'm 50/50 on the new designs there were issues with the old face models. I love kunihiko tanaka's style but it just wasn't translated well into the slightly more realistic style of X so some faces looked too doll like. I figured they'd lean more stylised to make his style work better in the game but this just feels too much like a different character designer. Just personally Elma was one of the better looking and most iconic characters in the OG game so drastically changing her feels odd especially when most of the game still looks the same.

They are more anime than before. Original Wii-U version was more of a realistic anime look attempt while the new one goes for cell shading anime style, it's more of a matter of preference.

I do agree with you that they aren't the end of the world. I may not be a fan of this direction but it isn't a deal breaker. Potentially we see some more characters from different angles, my opinion may change
im not a tech expert, but isnt the switch way stronger than the wii u? isnt the game supposed to run better now? why is the analysis based on whether or not the switch will be able to endure the game?
The Switch and the Wii U are very similar in terms of Specs and Capabilities actually. Its just that the Switch has many different tricks up its sleeve to produce a better quality image compared to the Wii U and so I've been hesitant to believe that it would even make its way on the Switch. I definitely do think Monolith has done a great job but if those Stutters are real and a regular thing, I fear for the games performance. I made a video on this a while back titled "Why a Xenoblade X Port is a BAD Idea!" so if you want more info, that'd be a good place to start

While I agree the models need some more work, they weren't downgraded but simply made a bit more generic-anime because the weird faces were often criticized in the original. Textures and LOD are better: you can see more details, tree trunks, shadows, etc. in the distant town

It's pretty evident we're getting X2 because of a certain scene in the trailer which seems questionable to even show in a trailer, OR the extra content will be available on release... because the game wasn't "finished," as far as I know. And if not X2 then a big dlc like they did with the xbc1-3. I doubt we're getting saga remakes for a while

I actually think the character models look better but they are more in line with XB1 - 3 on Switch.
On the other hand I sorta liked the art style on the Wii U.

I am beyond excited to play X definitive edition! As for the lore, I don’t think it deconfirms xenosaga as X is self contained and can easily stand as its own thing, but I think that the definitive edition will probably explain that the universe of X was created by the conduit when Klaus began the experiment, and that the aliens fighting against humanity are actually the humans from Klaus’ universe who were sucked into X’s universe and morphed into new forms.
Also MAN THE MODELS GOT THE GLOW UP.

You said that this game is the final nail in the coffin for saga, but the references and direct call backs in from the FR radio, as well as them including kosmos in the lineup with all their xenoblade characters says to me they still view it as being in the story somehow
For now i'm still of the mind that mira is another aionios way after xb3 when origin was used again to save species from all over a collapsing universe. As for the black knight, honestly i'm really hoping it is actually malos back for his redemption arc, that would make people go crazy. Plus if i'm honest, i feel like at this point it needs to be someone from the rest of the series, or directly connected to them cus if this is just some random new guy then this game will still feel like it doesnt really belong in the xenoblade series
That's actually one of the biggest problems i had with X, xenoblades connecting story was the heart of why the series was so exciting, but this game was just not a part of it. They NEED to connect it more solidly to the rest of the series story otherwise i'm just not gonna be interested tbh

As for your other points, I do and don't agree. I do think this needs to be slightly more seamlessly connected BUT I don't think it has to be directly connected. What makes Xenoblade Good is its accessiblity but I don't want this turning into a Yakuza or Trails situation where you have to play10 Different Games just to understand this one. Have them connectedc sure but don't make this Xenoblade 4 in effect
@@JBspherefreakI don't think that the Xeno-series suffer as much as Yakuza or Trails from this effect, each game has its own cast and most of the connected stuff tends to be very self contained except for FR DLC, you don't need to know who Nia and Melia are to play XC3 or what is the overall context behind Aionios, the game explains everything you should know, so for me, the more connected each game is, the better.

It's great news, indeed! The Switch is at least as or more capable than the Wii U so the game shouldn't need to be downgraded at all to run well on the former system.
Not true, the Hardware is actually much similar between the Switch and Wii U BUT the switch has a lot of more interesting and clever Tech like its upscaling thing. Hardware wise, the Switch is near identical and arguably weaker as it actually has a worse GPU but a better CPU (Your gonna want the GPU for X's world)

The Switch is a superior console and if they got this to run and look as well as it did on WiiU, it will be even better on Switch.

Nintendo games regularly lag in trailers which is fixed upon release, i expect it to run as smooth as the wii u version. Also the game has had a noticeable resolution bump, it doesn't have the vaseline smear effect that makes the entire game blurry :D.
The faces are likely the final result we'll get in the game, with the game releasing extremely soon i can't imagine them being changed, I respect preferring the old models but the newer models are definitely higher quality. The faces aren't as animated probably because the old faces just used the X character template to make the characters, which meant less detailed but universally compatible animations between models. Elma's face got a redesign separate of that but they didn't bother redoing the animations because i assume that would require doing new rigging and voice takes, which would be expensive and getting this game out was already a cost issue.
I'm just happy we got the game, I'll cry about somewhat missing the old models when i finally get my first skell whilst possibly sitting in an airplane (my wii u save data corrupted and i could never get myself to play through the game again)😂

I doubt they are giving X's world and story closure. I feel like Takahashi and monolithsoft are still wanting to set up a trilogy for X. Post XC2 in an interview they mentioned wanting to make and XC3 and XCX2 and we got XC3 and FR and now XCXDE and so there is now an actual possibility that X2 is in the works already for all we know and it would be amazing getting Takahashi's crazy light novel for X became a reality. Still excited to find out who the black knight finally is and revisit Mira in better visuals and likely with some QOL features like bigger ui text font.

Xenosaga problem's is that's still owned by Namco, and they time and time again said they don't plan to release remasters because of low sales expectations.

I like Elma's new look, the original game had a mix of characters rigid detailed faces like Nagi and smooth simple faces you'd associate with jrpg but but they still had that weird XC1 look to them since monolith hasn't been very good with 3d models so I'm glad they're getting better.
Still not happy they didn't remake the game around the cut content but I saw people making Kingdom Hearts jokes about the hooded figure so I'm chill.
They should have kept the doll-like look, as it fit the fact that they are robots theme!

My only problem with x definitive edition is that it will use the censored us/eu version which means some censored clothing for both male and female characters and no chest slider for female cross
I think its too early to say for certain. They have confirmed to use this version yes but those features, especialkly the bust slider still exist within the games but are simply hidden so it is possible they make those changes although nobody can say for certain

Well texture resolution is slightly bumped up , some models also got improved , and having the grey / brown filter overlay removed makes all the colors pop a bit more. That said the removed color filter could just be a specific weather and day setting ... so i wouldnt expect much there. But thats basicly it , so the game was with slighly enhanced visuals in mind ported , so not with 4K res for Switch 2. Maybe if this game will be Cross Plattform , it might get another resolution bump later on for the Switch 2 , but i highly doubt that. That said i expect this game to be Cross Plattform because its litereally in the title ... Xenoblade X (Cross) ... and its 10th birthday is on 29.04.2025 ... so time will tell. I guess.

- I dont understand what you mean ... the original XCX already had Fashion Gear Slots ... the only issue i have with that is that you actually have to have those pieces in your inventory to use them for the Fashion , XCDE made it better by having the Fashion Gear as unlockable and freely usable mechanic without the need to have the items in your inventory.
Uhh ... from what i can tell the Black Knight in the trailer has deffo the english VA for Malos , he just sounds slightly different , which makes sense considering the time difference of the releases. That said its also worth considering that the Black Knight in the concept art ingame model design has a purple glowing thing on his chest ... so i wouldnt discard this possibility until we get further infos , even tho the japanese VA is different.

Imo , Future Redeemed made it very clear that all these are connected in some way shape or form to the same earth (how exactly this fits is probably up to whatever retcons get made down the line) ... that said , Remakes of Gears and Saga are very much up to Square Enix and Bandai Namco , what Takahashi can do tho , is add more references and plotpoints to X that link Saga and Gears even more together with wherever Xenoblade is headed.
What I meant was that the Original XCX Trailers had the Characters Wearing different Equipment because there was no Events Theatre or thing for the Devs to easily go back and get footage for. Ofc there is the Fashion Gear but if you don't have the piece you want, you can't equip it

I didn't played it either but from what I've seen is BOTW for Xenoblade but with a way better open world, quests, more stuff to do, a few online features and closer to a single-player MMO that originally had a terrible cliffhanger nothing of a ending but that now they confirmed that they are expanding on it.

im sitting here wondering if its just gonna be an extra story like the other 3 had, or if its gonna turn what was the final battle into a prison island first visit sort of thing and have like 6 more chapters after lifehold. if the xenosaga link you were referring to is to happen, itd probably need a lot more than just an extra story considering x also needs to conclude itself in that shared time.
Correct but at the same time, I don't think they need to completely establish an Ogdoad thing or concept but just begin implying it exists. If X is to now get a sequel or so, those are the games to more Thoroughly Flesh out that concept
I think that in order to connect the original Saga games to the main series it would probably take at least some sort of larger project like a Xenosaga Remake/Remaster or something like that at some point.
My bet is that the next games will include Saga elements like the protagonist might be a Uzuki that has a sibling which builds a Gynoid called KOS KOS and the main threat is the heat death of the universe which the keys to stop it lie on Origin.
With that said IF they decide to tie to the original Saga games i think that things will go like:
The new protagonists find KOS MOS broken asleep somewhere and decides to take her to repair, the game starts with some sort of "wake up KOS MOS" moment and she seemingly has some sort of Memory loss or corrupted data but she remembers her name and is essentially back at zero (my issue with that is that this would hinder KOS MOS character development on Xenosaga 3), KOS MOS would grow to become a very important character thorought the games and the mystery around her would come up at the people who never played Saga, later Monolith could make a deal with Bandai to Remaster the original games or make a Two Parts Remake
Xenosaga 1+2 Definitive Edition (like the DS version who was never released overseas which is closer to Takahashi's original idea for Xenosaga 1 which due to issues half of Xenosaga 1 became Saga 2 and wasn't written by him and his wife) and later Xenosaga 3 Definitive Edition.
The main issues here are:
1- Is Bandai willing to do that? I think that only if they see it as profitable, back then they wanted to Remaster Saga but they didn't thought it would've been profitable but now Xenoblade is more popular than ever and if Tetsuya Takahashi is looking at the fandom talk THERE IS a demand for it to happen and KOS KOS is a highly profitable waifu(Bandai milked her a lot in the past) so it's possible
2- Does Tetsuya Takahashi wishes to do that? Or he wishes to just move on from the original Xenosaga games and he would rather just add elements of it to the new games?
3- This is a very ambitious and convoluted idea

I think the Charackter models look pretty good actually, its only Lin who looks a bit Derpy.
I also dont think that the models are Final yet, because you the only charackters who recieved the glowup where really Elma Lin Lao and Cross.
They did the same thing with XC1 DE where the main cast had more substantial upgrades than others

I don't see why this announcement would be a nail in the coffin for Xenosaga hopes either. If anything, it's opposite to me. It shows that the people in charge care about their older games and want them to realize their full potential. We've now seen it with XBC and XBCX (as well as Baten Kaitos). It's just that the Xenosaga trilogy would require a more thorough overhaul than Chronicles X and may therefore take longer to do. Then we can also get into the announcement of new story elements in XBCXDE, reminisce about small changes that were made with XBC1DE to more neatly fit into a larger narrative and wonder if that radio message in Future Redeemed wasn't a hint of things to come, one of which was now revealed. I'm even more optimistic for a Xenosaga comeback now.

I seen the direct comparison and I'm still proud owner of Xenoblade X. The Gamepad implementation is second to NONE. The new switch will have two screens on offer as the Wii U. That's a hot take but patent from Nintendo shows the architecture. So switch owners may be a lil let down. Duel screens are superior in many aspects. I'll continue playing Xenoblade X, Windwaker HD, Twilight princess HD, etc. Have a wonderful day y'all .

Yeah you're the only person I've seen who doesn't think the character models are MUCH better, myself included haha
I'm 50/50 on the new designs there were issues with the old face models. I love kunihiko tanaka's style but it just wasn't translated well into the slightly more realistic style of X so some faces looked too doll like. I figured they'd lean more stylised to make his style work better in the game but this just feels too much like a different character designer. Just personally Elma was one of the better looking and most iconic characters in the OG game so drastically changing her feels odd especially when most of the game still looks the same.

wow first person I hear saying the character models looked better before. Hardly disagree on this one, they look way more expressive and alive than ever. Hope you get used to it and get to love them eventually
They are more anime than before.
Original Wii-U version was more of a realistic anime look attempt while the new one goes for cell shading anime style, it's more of a matter of preference.
Elma has honestly grown on me over these past 24 Hours or so but I still think Lin looks like a gremlin. She's lacking emotion and detail compared to her old model

I'm not hard bothered by Lin and Elma's look. I think the issue is XB3 style models with XBX shaders / lighting. I don't care though, I am excited for this on switch. ❤ Monolith

I do agree with you that they aren't the end of the world. I may not be a fan of this direction but it isn't a deal breaker. Potentially we see some more characters from different angles, my opinion may change

im not a tech expert, but isnt the switch way stronger than the wii u? isnt the game supposed to run better now? why is the analysis based on whether or not the switch will be able to endure the game?
The Switch and the Wii U are very similar in terms of Specs and Capabilities actually. Its just that the Switch has many different tricks up its sleeve to produce a better quality image compared to the Wii U and so I've been hesitant to believe that it would even make its way on the Switch. I definitely do think Monolith has done a great job but if those Stutters are real and a regular thing, I fear for the games performance. I made a video on this a while back titled "Why a Xenoblade X Port is a BAD Idea!" so if you want more info, that'd be a good place to start
@@JBspherefreak oh yeah i watched it! im always there with every new video you post! And yeah, that part of the trailer you pointed out had a severe frame drop and it is worrysome indeed. Hopefully this game will be similar to BOTW on wiiu/switch and it also gets a release version for the new console. With better performance and maybe even graphical update (i know, im dreaming too much)

I mean, the Hairstyles look nice admittedly but its like the Textures and Skin Colours. It reminds me of Low Res Graphics with just the lack of Detail. It aint the worst thing ever but...yea
