Excellent improvement. The only aspect I must point out is that sometimes it looks too flat. But, it's a good fix in a very classic style.12:27 I hope they adjust some ambient atmospheres to make it more subtle.
@@Xiter2024 I know and, I like it. However, I wish the visual stylization was a bit more subtle. Since, as I said, it does look a bit flat at times. But I really like the new approach appealing to the classic look.
The one that some of the most radical fanbase members were always trying to remove for "cleaner and realistic" looks, so they started whining and crying that filters aren't there where remaster was released and asking to bring it back 🤣
The old lighting looks washed out, sterile and anaemic. The new tones are deeper, richer, warmer and far more authentic. Signs and posters are much clearer. Beats me how Grove Street Games didn’t understand that things far in the distance are not as sharp as those in the foreground. Basic stuff.
If anything this proves the importance of color grading which more than the lighting engine itself is what is making the HUGE difference here , GTA SA and GTA VC had a very specific palette and without it the games had lost a huge part of their charm glad to see they fixed it ! PS Also adding back in the distance fog to make the maps look much bigger than they actually are !
I just played the new update I got say: it's better but still bad! The distant fog is overly saturated green, the shadows looks weird as hell in classic lighting. Conclusion? If you wanna play the True definitive edition of GTA SA crack this on your PC with vanilla friendly mods like Rosa textures and sky gfx
I hope the modern trend of neutral, ungraded and unfiltered lighting can finally go die. Games used to look unique with its own cinematic look. Bring that back.
Gracias ROCKSTAR

It’s definitely better, but it doesn’t improve ugly AI made plastic models, thousands of bugs that didn’t exist in original games and more and more and more.
They did not use "AI" on the models, that technology wasnt even available back then. 2021 is when AI still made weird stuff that could barely be identified and there was texture upscaling. There was no AI generated 3D modeling in 2021. Please get educated.
@@killcount6534 Look at Mr I Know Better. They did used AI. Quite from The Gamer "To make the new assets, Rockstar used machine learning to upscale certain textures, but also reworked some by hand. " You can even see when they used it. Like, for example, inscriptions on stores textures, writing on the walls, cars, billboards. Instead of "meat" there will be "meet" and etc. There are tons of that in the this remaster. It can't be human being that writes that badly and buggy and even with poorly english. They just used AI and didn't have time to fix all poorly generated things. Devs used machine learning and AI upscaling for new textures. AI didn't appear in 2022-2024, if you didn't know. And yeah, textures, inscriptions and a lot of things in the game looks so bad and AI upscalng is exactly the reason why it looked that way. Glitchy inscriptions, bad texturing, animation bugs.

To also add, on pc the performance has drastically improved. Mine would stutter insanely.. seen the hype and a few of these videos, so I downloaded them again. Everything is default (max) and it runs very very very very well in comparison to the initial release and "fixes" over the 3 years.
What the hell is this crap 😂? 3 years after it released, they suddenly decided to give the games a yellow color tone and bring back the fog from the PS2 games? The games barely even look remastered now, what a weird studio lmao 😂.
Lighting doesnt equate to graphics. For one its simply an option, and secondly this is the way the games were intended to look. Each game's lighting design had it's own identity and added to their respective atmosphere and time period.
Imagine being upset that they are improving the game. They improved more than just this also. They've done a lot. It's the L.A. Noire VR devs who have been improving these games. They did the mobile port for these remasters.

But it can look really good. Works for all non HDR PS4/PS5 games. And it only works with Dynamic Tone Mapping. Doesn't work with HGIG.
So much better and also faithful to the original ❤🎉
Each city in San Andreas is supposed to have a different shader (LS being orange, SF being blue and LV being yellow). Did they actually do that with the update or does every city share the same orange shader?
As far as I know, they've made an exclusive shader for each city, to accurately match the PS2 version.
Rockstar stole my heart yet again
I still like the old lighting it looks more realistic, when have you gone outside and everything looks orange
Much closer to the originals now🙏

it's funny because from what i remember the original PC version of these games always had more or less a lighting similar to the old one in the DE version, but people still prefer the classic lighting that are basically just the ones from the PS2 versions, i guess way more people played these games in the PS2 than on a PC lol
PC version was horrible and a massive downgrade from PS2
@@breakingglass7496mods
Excellent improvement. The only aspect I must point out is that sometimes it looks too flat. But, it's a good fix in a very classic style.12:27 I hope they adjust some ambient atmospheres to make it more subtle.
Hell no. 12:27 is faithful to the original one
@@Xiter2024 I know and, I like it. However, I wish the visual stylization was a bit more subtle. Since, as I said, it does look a bit flat at times. But I really like the new approach appealing to the classic look.
The new lighting looks amazing but I must admit that VC at night looks better with the old lighting
I agree especially at Vice Beach
Good that you can always turn it on an off whenever you want
@@LNCRFT yeah, it's cool that they let us choose
They brought back the classic filter i see!
The one that some of the most radical fanbase members were always trying to remove for "cleaner and realistic" looks, so they started whining and crying that filters aren't there where remaster was released and asking to bring it back 🤣
The game is constantly on sale but of course it isn't now 😭
The indoor lighting seems barely unchanged. Hopefully, they can touch that up as well, but overall, this is a welcome change
Old lighting: 😍😍
New lighting: “the exaggerated swagger of a black teen”
What does this even mean young man 😂
If anything this proves the importance of color grading which more than the lighting engine itself is what is making the HUGE difference here , GTA SA and GTA VC had a very specific palette and without it the games had lost a huge part of their charm glad to see they fixed it ! PS Also adding back in the distance fog to make the maps look much bigger than they actually are !
Way more dramatic, I love it! A little too orange sometimes but that's ok I guess .. it took 2 years tho 😢
Do you think they will patch these games again?
Now all they have to do to call this "definitive" is bring back all the missing songs.
Not gonna happen until VI comes out
@anshraina73 It feels more like a deliberate decision than financial, since Rockstar (Take-Two) is a billion Dollar company.
This guy musics always a pleasure to listen to.
Downloading gta SA right now can’t wait. Hopefully the performance is better
Finally. I’m getting closer to buying this now. I want to see them remove targeting outlines.
They were made optional a few years ago but note that they're still enabled by default.
u can disable them in settings my man
Adds more clouds and smog to hide that draw distance its a great update
Bro what? 9:30 💀
The new lighting looks much better! It really captures the atmosphere of the OG games
I hope the modern trend of neutral, ungraded and unfiltered lighting can finally go die. Games used to look unique with its own cinematic look. Bring that back.
Oh yeah, now we're talking! The unique tone each city has really makes a difference.
You can even see when they used it.
@ that’s what i said though, they used AI for the textures, not the models
9:32 in the meantime CJ is getting beaten by the cop. 😂🤣
I can finally buy the trilogy? Lol
Oh wait…. some songs were removed due to copyrights. Nope, gonna stick to my PS2 discs…
Wait what? Songs removed? Wow... clearly garbage.
@ yeah, that sucks.
That's the greatest L maybe, I loved OG VC's Radio, it got me into all the 80's music that Even My Mom ans other Uncles of mine recognize, we're latinos Even so that's just how far they gotten!
What about mods?

Casuals dont even know that sky gfx was the most popular san andreas mod that replicated ps2 graphics, glad they replicated the original lighting here the way the game was intended to look on ps2 not its pc version graphics.
I think choice is always good. I gotta say though I like new lighting on Vice City and although I played San Andreas a lot growing up I kinda like the old lighting for that one. 13:01 that's just too big of a difference for me to want to use new lighting just for nostalgia sake.
yes the epic lighting/atmosphere of the ps2 verisons that went so well with the setting/eras the games were set in are finally reinstated

To also add, on pc the performance has drastically improved. Mine would stutter insanely.. seen the hype and a few of these videos, so I downloaded them again. Everything is default (max) and it runs very very very very well in comparison to the initial release and "fixes" over the 3 years.

12:54 hole in textures of the road
This is like beta vs 1.0 😂
i love how they started to make it like og gta better late than nothing
