When Rockstar realized the mess that the other company made by releasing the trilogy alot of bugs, they had to take ownership of the project to finally improve things.

Some big improvement for 3 and Vice City could be: -After falling into the water a "good samaritan" help you get out losing some health but not dying (5 to 10 Min cooldown to keep it somewhat original). -After beating the game unlocks cheats in the menu and a replay mission option; -Adding clothes\skin options in GTA 3. There are the models so why not? Like the standard model, jail outfit, the old PC alternative with the brown leather jacket, the one from San Andreas and maybe another one that gives you the ability to Explore liberty city without getting shot at. -Also to GTA 3 to make more in line with the others (this is a real Stretch) maybe adding a secret motorcycle and a secret (real) Flying Dodo. Like to access these vehicles you need to know where they are and use a certain vehicle to pass the gate (like the Cartel cruiser, Police, Triad). If some of these make their way in the definitive edition that would be awesome.

@@AfGG Not just lighting. Everything is not for just an overview, sometimes you have to look into it before talking about it. The poles falling down the floor is baked as in the OG games.
I mean i'm glad they improved it, but it should've been like this at release in the first place. Also, i wonder what happened behind the scenes, since they removed GSG logo from the game. I guess rockstar flipped them off and just took it in their own hands

Now it actually passes as an okay remaster, the classic lighting option is definitely the best thing in the update. Rain effects being fixed is huge too, that crap was hurting my eyes when i first gave DE version a try. Now if only CJ's arms didn't look so weird while crouching or on a bike/bmx, would've been even better. That said, original with mods is still superior, and it'll likely stay that way because original's modding community is just more active. 3 on the other hand is the game that actually benefitted from the remaster, considering how poorly it aged, not even silent patch fixes all problems in that one.
There are still major glitches and a big issue still present when you hit street poles they just fall through the solid floor they auto disappear. In originals that’s not the case.

The game is fantastic now. My only disappointment is that they haven't brought back CJ's resting animation where he looks around at things when you go AFK.

@@the3xit762 I don't know how well mods work now with the newest patch, but if they do work then using mods like ROSA Evolved helps to improve most textures on gta sa and there are other lightning, texture and bug fixes mods available for all 3 games
@@PinnuskaTV call me petty but my main gripe now with the fixed version is actually the lack of blood effects on the ground which to me is part of the gta classic identity… but luckily for me I didn’t buy it so I’ve not lost out on anything
The game is better than before but there are some small BUGS with the flying trees in the Deserts etc... I hope soon it will gets a new Patch to Fix GTA Sandreas 100%!☺️
@fgh-553 Is it wrong to expect working, bug-free games? We wouldn't complain if the the games launched in respectable states. Bugs like floating trees and objects are immersion breaking and something that should have been fixed long ago.
it's a surprise they came back trying to fix its major issues 3 years after its initial release, something like this would have been fixed in day one patch or a week after release, nevertheless i think it's an important step into making definitive edition worth getting into if they bother fixing the rest of the issues that still remain

Thanks for the recent comparison! I played it on day one, testing all 3 games & it looked good at first but the more of it you played, the more issues you would start to notice. Very happy with the final version!
I cannot express how happy this update made me. I genuinely gave up hope on this game, and the only reason I even bought it was cause someone was selling the Switch cartridge for $4; but now it looks like I might actually play them (and maybe 100% them for the 100th time lmao). They're a long way to go, but if Rockstar keeps this up it just might earn the "Definitive Edition" title.
Damn, Rockstar just completely made fools out of Grove Street Games with the quality of these fixes 😮 Please don't hire second rate devs again Rockstar. Although they have to take some blame here though too for not vetting them properly 😤
Most of these fixes are Grove Street Games. The rest are Video Games Deluxe (who helped on the mobile versions too). Some of the fixes shown in this video were already implemented long before the recent update.
I'm glad they fixed so many of the bugs. I'm much less enamoured with the classic lighting than most it seems though. I like the classic lighting in the desert and some of the older weather effects, but I was never overly fond of the orange tint to Los Santos. Still, giving people the option of either was a sensible move.
If you watch closely the rain in before patch the thunder appears at the ground after the patch with the classic lighting on the thunder appears at sky just like the original
It's cool. Almost as cool as the PS2 version. Remember the insanely HUGE manual /map that came w PS2 SA? I would like that in the game. I'm very happy for this patch. But let's give the games their actual due.

Fair play to Rockstar they have done the right thing by these classics. I feel like there is only really the issue of some of the character models and faces. I think a more focused pass on that front can't refine or improve a number of them to make them lose that amateur look many of them have. Maybe add blinking. I'm sure there are still other smaller improvements they could do. I remember there being a bug with the stadium events crashing SA. But it was all playable the bridge. Some invisible wall issues and missing detection so you fell though the floor.. Some poor layering of the assets.. Floating grass.. Clashing grass colour.. The lack of greyness to 3.. The vibe of colours in VC not being there. I know they can't add the ability to go back and forth with the original games and the new versions visuals but I would have liked the option. Whoevers working on these games I do hope picks up the mantle of doing the other Rockstar games.. Both GTA Stories games, possibly Chinatown Wars in remade in 3D as another trilogy package? Maybe look to do something with GTA 1, London, 2 as another trilogy? Manhunt 1+2?.. Bully+Warriors?.. Why not. We already know Max Payne 1+2 are being remade from the ground up. I still believe GTA4 could be remastered bring over some of the newer features. RDR doesn't could be but I don't think there's a need really RDR2 does the map. The could remake it in RDR2 in theory and then sell it like they are RDR2 story mode.. Same with GTA4..Rockstar has a lot on the table to work with. In terms of releases. I know many of us would like to get achievements on GTA1 or Manhunt.. I know I do.
Thanks for making this video! It's been long enough since I looked at these games, that I needed a video like this to better observe what is different with the new patch, and the game looks great now! I'm honestly very surprised they kept patching it for this long, especially considering the odd choice to put The mobile port of San Andreas on PSN and then just leave it that way (maybe because it wasn't a major release compared to the Definitive Edition??), but in any case, "better late than never" is pretty much all I can say now.
I mean, don't blame GSGs entirely. Allegedly, this patch was DONE years ago. but Rockstar made them hold off on it, in light of it crashing their GTA 6 sales and attention. So it's the fault of Rockstar rushing their own product and not allowing the 3rd party developers, to issue the patch they long found fixes for these bugs. This game should have been fixed 3 years ago.
Classic lighting should be enabled by default because it looks so much better. I must admit that DE now can be called Definitive Edition instead Defective Edition as it combines best things from OG and best from DE.
Several things to say about this: 1) 00:47 The animation was not corrected and I don't think they will correct it either. They have simply "made up" a little of the mess it was before, but it is still bad. Take a look at CJ's waist and you'll know why I say that. 2) 05:00 The light, objectively speaking, was better before. The focus, in both versions, points exclusively downwards. In the launch version, the light goes in the right direction, diffusing well. In today's one, even though the spotlight faces the ground, the light points upwards as well, diffusing in a circular manner (which is clearly noticeable with the naked eye). Also, the saturation they have given is incorrect. It's simply too much. At best, they could have tried an intermediate color between the first and second versions. 3) 05:50 They have removed the pause menu for no apparent reason and, in my opinion, it looked better with it. Because? For simple utility. Maybe just at that moment it occurs to you to mark something on the map, or change the graphics, or exit the game... Many reasons that, whether more or less useful, have their meaning. What can be done later simply by skipping the cinematic? Also, but why haven't you guys complained about GTA V or RDR2? I mean, in those games, during a cutscene, you can press ESC and access the pause menu to do any of the other things mentioned above (and more). Either way, good video.
While it looks better there still some things that need some work like ambulances still not spawning in for injured npcs, but at least fire trucks still spawn for fires, Riot mode still not showing smoking buildings, the police scanner guy's dialogue for when you get a wanted level is more screwed up.
Bottom right green in the colour pallet at mod shops makes the car black. Some mansions with a swimming pool either have water that you sink into with no animation, or you walk on the water (Mainly around Vinewood hills)
All I ever wanted was the white wall tires to come bacc on the lowrider wheels, the hydraulics to be better like the ps2 version, and the savanna roof to go over the baccseats head

It certainly looks a whole lot more better and I can’t believe saying this let alone thinking it but I’m seriously considering buying the Definitive Edition for my PS4 and play some games I haven’t played in a long time.
It's worth playing now. It's definitely a smooth gameplay havent encountered any bugs or crashes. Rockstar significantly improved it, maybe a few more patches

I like the classic lighting in the desert and some of the older weather effects, but I was never overly fond of the orange tint to Los Santos. Still, giving people the option of either was a sensible move.

Fair play to Rockstar they have done the right thing by these classics.
I feel like there is only really the issue of some of the character models and faces. I think a more focused pass on that front can't refine or improve a number of them to make them lose that amateur look many of them have. Maybe add blinking.
I'm sure there are still other smaller improvements they could do.
I remember there being a bug with the stadium events crashing SA. But it was all playable the bridge. Some invisible wall issues and missing detection so you fell though the floor.. Some poor layering of the assets.. Floating grass.. Clashing grass colour.. The lack of greyness to 3.. The vibe of colours in VC not being there.
I know they can't add the ability to go back and forth with the original games and the new versions visuals but I would have liked the option.
Whoevers working on these games I do hope picks up the mantle of doing the other Rockstar games.. Both GTA Stories games, possibly Chinatown Wars in remade in 3D as another trilogy package? Maybe look to do something with GTA 1, London, 2 as another trilogy?
Manhunt 1+2?.. Bully+Warriors?.. Why not. We already know Max Payne 1+2 are being remade from the ground up.
I still believe GTA4 could be remastered bring over some of the newer features. RDR doesn't could be but I don't think there's a need really RDR2 does the map. The could remake it in RDR2 in theory and then sell it like they are RDR2 story mode.. Same with GTA4..Rockstar has a lot on the table to work with. In terms of releases.
I know many of us would like to get achievements on GTA1 or Manhunt.. I know I do.

Thanks for making this video! It's been long enough since I looked at these games, that I needed a video like this to better observe what is different with the new patch, and the game looks great now! I'm honestly very surprised they kept patching it for this long, especially considering the odd choice to put The mobile port of San Andreas on PSN and then just leave it that way (maybe because it wasn't a major release compared to the Definitive Edition??), but in any case, "better late than never" is pretty much all I can say now.

I mean, don't blame GSGs entirely. Allegedly, this patch was DONE years ago. but Rockstar made them hold off on it, in light of it crashing their GTA 6 sales and attention.
So it's the fault of Rockstar rushing their own product and not allowing the 3rd party developers, to issue the patch they long found fixes for these bugs.

Classic lighting should be enabled by default because it looks so much better. I must admit that DE now can be called Definitive Edition instead Defective Edition as it combines best things from OG and best from DE.

Several things to say about this:
1) 00:47
The animation was not corrected and I don't think they will correct it either. They have simply "made up" a little of the mess it was before, but it is still bad. Take a look at CJ's waist and you'll know why I say that.
2) 05:00
The light, objectively speaking, was better before. The focus, in both versions, points exclusively downwards. In the launch version, the light goes in the right direction, diffusing well. In today's one, even though the spotlight faces the ground, the light points upwards as well, diffusing in a circular manner (which is clearly noticeable with the naked eye). Also, the saturation they have given is incorrect. It's simply too much. At best, they could have tried an intermediate color between the first and second versions.
3) 05:50
They have removed the pause menu for no apparent reason and, in my opinion, it looked better with it. Because? For simple utility. Maybe just at that moment it occurs to you to mark something on the map, or change the graphics, or exit the game... Many reasons that, whether more or less useful, have their meaning. What can be done later simply by skipping the cinematic? Also, but why haven't you guys complained about GTA V or RDR2? I mean, in those games, during a cutscene, you can press ESC and access the pause menu to do any of the other things mentioned above (and more).

While it looks better there still some things that need some work like ambulances still not spawning in for injured npcs, but at least fire trucks still spawn for fires, Riot mode still not showing smoking buildings, the police scanner guy's dialogue for when you get a wanted level is more screwed up.

Some mansions with a swimming pool either have water that you sink into with no animation, or you walk on the water (Mainly around Vinewood hills)

Rockstar changed the team who made first versions of the game and used more experienced team
All I ever wanted was the white wall tires to come bacc on the lowrider wheels, the hydraulics to be better like the ps2 version, and the savanna roof to go over the baccseats head

It certainly looks a whole lot more better and I can’t believe saying this let alone thinking it but I’m seriously considering buying the Definitive Edition for my PS4 and play some games I haven’t played in a long time.
It's worth playing now. It's definitely a smooth gameplay havent encountered any bugs or crashes. Rockstar significantly improved it, maybe a few more patches
