Put a smile to that face when you're talking and you'll host the interview much better.
    Great video BTW.

Wow...just found this series of Marketing/Branding videos and love the way that the basics of both are explained--and for that matter, explained so that anyone who owns a business would understand! Great work and Kudos to Albanese Branding! :-)

I am working with a group of tourism stakeholders in a rural community developing a common community brand for tourism marketing. However, I've struggled to explain the value of branding to them. Looking forward to sharing this video with them and letting Jim and Patrick do it for me! Thanks guys!

Blockbuster closing had nothing to do with its branding, did it? It had to do with new technologies taking over and not creating a need for home movie rental. Am I wrong?

Blockbuster wasn't monitoring and analyzing market trends, therefore they became outdated. They could have transitioned their brand and started a streaming service, similar to hulu or netflix. They could have tapped into the technology side that you reference and offered a streaming service to their customer base.

Branding is changing and following the market trend. So they are right in saying that

Brand Marketing will always be or should be the center of any business and any oversight including failure to keeping up with the technology is one of them. I was working with a manufacturing company before and the product planning and development team (the engineers of the company) is under the brand marketing team and that's why they dominated their market. The branding people must always be on the lookout with the 3C's of marketing.

you really did not explain branding. what i got out of this is that a brand is really the name

they did though. a brand is not just a logo or what colors they use, nor the age of who a business engages with. its the public perception, the vibe they give, the message they send, how they make you feel, how they identify themselves, and what they offer to the consumer. That's what a brand is. when he explained Walmart, that was a great example of the last few things I listed.
