Ride the Southern Pacific High Rail with Run By's. Cab Views and Night time gleaming rails. Be sure and listen for the Dynamic Braking Whine during the "Night time" portion.
The SP killed it in its day. Innovators in intermodal, motive power, communications. Along with its history, terrain, and problems made for a great show of horsepower, tonnage and might that i fell in love with as a kid in the LA and high desserts of SoCal. A fan to this day, SP for life...
I was a SP engineer for years and then employed by the UP. Great video brings back great memories when the SPRR was one of the best companies to work for in the RR industry.
glad you liked it, I do miss the high rail,,,, I don't miss the heat, the away from home stays, the cold, the living in motels, bad greasey spoon eating places, ect., and I do miss the people I worked with,,,, and there were very few dull moments.....
@csxketh1 engines are equiped with a red warning devise which goes off when the train goes into emergency brake application, it stays on until the trainline is recovered and brake pressure is restored,,,, its a warning to any approaching trains on adjacent tracks that the track ahead could be obstructed,,,,,,it usually stays on continuously

For those that don't know, SPRINT literally came out of Southern Pacific origins...it was their internal networking group.
@@SIGINT007 Sprint microwave system had excess capacity so they leased to business customers who wanted to save on long distance phone charges.
DJ Russell is the one who started SP on it's downward spiral. Penny-pincher who couldn't see the big picture.
